Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 769: Chapter 635: Pulled Into His Arms

Shen Tang Teleported with Xiao Jin directly to a border shelter. This place was tens of thousands of miles away from the Purification Zone, the environment harsh, with only some remote small outposts; the permanent population probably didn’t even reach a hundred. But for Jin right now, this was actually relatively safe. After all, the Beastman troops hunting him now were far more dangerous than any Mutant Species.

In such a remote place, no one knew them. Everyone was busy earning points; nobody cared about these two sudden, badly injured, and unknown Beastmen.

Shen Tang paid points and temporarily rented a room. The room was very simple, pretty much like an unfinished apartment, with only the most basic living functions, and only one bedroom. The previous tenant had left things behind; half-smoked cigarette butts piled in the corner, uncleaned trash scattered everywhere, and a foul smell hanging in the air.

Pinching her nose, Shen Tang first laid Xiao Jin on the only bed, then roughly tidied up the room and pushed open the window. The smell in the room finally improved a little.

She looked at the man’s injuries. It seemed that whether in the past or now, every time Xiao Jin left her side, he never took proper care of himself. Every time they met again, he was always covered in wounds; more than once, he had narrowly escaped death, and every time it was her who dragged him back from the gates of hell.

This scene was so very familiar.

Shen Tang’s heart was full of blame, yet she couldn’t stop the ache. She bent over and gently stroked the man’s face. It was still the handsome face in her memory, not a bit different. Even with injuries on his face and blood seeping at the corner of his lips, it couldn’t cover up the depth of his features.

Despite all the questions in her heart, facing this face she knew better than any, Shen Tang had no mind to think about anything else. She only wanted him to wake up, wanted him to be all right.

To live well, and never be hurt again.

Shen Tang took a deep breath, shook off the messy thoughts. Right now, healing him was what mattered most.

Xiao Jin was covered in wounds, blood and dust mixed together. Shen Tang took stored clean water out of her Space, first helping him roughly clean his body, disinfect his wounds, and then used her Healing Ability to treat him. At last, he didn’t look quite so wretched.

Those superficial wounds weren’t the real problem. Though they looked bloody and mangled, they weren’t fatal for a Primordial Beast Tier Beastman. Even without her treatment, they would heal on their own after some time.

The worst injury on Jin was that Ice Blade piercing his right chest. Yue Lin, as a Primordial Beast Tier Beastman, had struck with full force; the power of it was obvious. Fortunately, it hit the right chest and didn’t injure a vital organ. Anyone else would likely have died on the spot.

Xiao Jin’s right chest had been opened up with a large gash, packed with fragments of ice crystals that hindered the wound from healing. Shen Tang’s Healing Ability had only recovered to about twenty or thirty percent; she couldn’t heal it in one go and would probably need to keep treating him for a few more days and see how it went.

Thankfully, the shelter was remote enough that those people wouldn’t catch up anytime soon.

Over the next few days, Shen Tang devoted herself to taking care of Jin.

But strangely, he never woke up. His consciousness seemed trapped in chaos, with no sign of improvement. Shen Tang asked the System, ”What’s going on? I’ve already used spiritual power to soothe him. Why isn’t he waking up?”

After the System finished scanning Jin’s body, it answered gravely, [Host, his situation is very complicated, different from the mentally manic Beastmen you treated before. His mental mania is caused by a superpower rampage; the mental problem is just a ’symptom,’ not the ’root.’ So even if you perform spiritual soothing, his condition won’t improve.]

”How did this illness start?”

[That, I’m not sure. It might be congenital—his superpower is too strong, but his body can’t withstand it. Once his power goes out of control, his body goes out of control. When his body can no longer bear that power, his life will likely come to an end as well.]

Shen Tang’s heart clenched. ”The way you’re saying it, he sounds a bit like Jia Lan back then?”

[Somewhat similar, but essentially different. Jia Lan’s power going out of control, even developing a second personality, was fundamentally caused by Curse Power. A curse is an external energy. As long as the source is cut off, he can recover.] The System explained, [But Jin’s energy is self-generated, it belongs to him; it can’t be cut off. So... this is an incurable terminal illness.]

Shen Tang felt a painful tightness in her chest as she listened.

With no other way for now, she could only keep using her Healing Ability on him, hoping he would wake up soon.

Jin woke up once or twice in between, but that couldn’t be considered truly awake; it was more like his consciousness drifting between half-dream and half-float. His physical and mental state were both too poor. Before long, his awareness would give out and sink into darkness once more.

This time, the coma felt especially long, so long it was like he’d had an endlessly drawn-out dream.

He dreamt of that silly little female again. She didn’t just suddenly barge into his life; she had the nerve to barge into his dreams too. Truly outrageous...

He desperately wanted to toss this noisy, stupid little thing out, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t. She stayed by his side all along.

In the dream, she single-handedly led him out through the encirclement, then carefully cleaned his body for him. That kind of intimate care with no privacy at all was like... something only partners would do.

She kept her clothes on and never left his side, treating him with her superpower every day. At night when she slept, she squeezed in beside him on that small bed, gently held him, nestled against his chest, and murmured all kinds of words.

He couldn’t make out what she said, but he could hear that soft voice lingering at his ear, laden with longing, attachment, and her hope that he would get better soon...

Jin couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.

In this world, would there really be someone who wished for him to get better?

Shouldn’t everyone be rejoicing for this Demon to die as soon as possible?

He really must have lost his mind to be having such dreams, to think of that dumb little female as something so good.

He didn’t need this... hypocritical love.

All he had ever possessed was real, solid hate.

So when would this absurd, laughable dream finally end?

Unfortunately, Jin never waited for the dream to end. Instead, he gradually began to sense the outside world through the haze. His consciousness peeled away from the darkness bit by bit; his senses grew clearer and clearer, and he even felt a warm touch, as if someone were gently stroking his face.

Jin jolted awake. His heavy eyelids parted slightly. What entered his sight wasn’t ruins and a battlefield, but a simple yet clean room with a faint hint of incense in the air.

Then he saw Shen Tang, who was tending to him—the very same little female from his dream.

No.

It wasn’t a dream.

He hadn’t been dreaming.

Was it really her?

Had she been the one taking care of him all these days he was unconscious?

The female finished wiping his face and moved on to his upper body and arms, not noticing that the man was already awake. Jin held his breath and didn’t move at all, as if... he was afraid of shattering this moment’s peace.

He saw in her gaze toward him pain and worry, and beneath that, infinite love and tenderness.

Jin suddenly wondered if he was still dreaming.

But the sensations from his body were so real. This wasn’t a dream.

In that instant, Jin felt a calm he had never known before in his life.

Thinking carefully, every time he met this little female, he seemed to be in this kind of sorry state.

He had lost control three times in front of her.

The first time he lost control was when they first met, and she performed spiritual soothing for him.

The second time he lost control, she didn’t run; instead, she risked her life trying to wake him, almost dying at his hands.

The third time was just like this as well.

Why did she do that? Wasn’t she afraid of dying?

She was... utterly stupid.

How could there be someone this foolish in the world.

Shen Tang was used to following the routine of caring for him step by step and hadn’t noticed that the man was already awake. After wiping his upper body, she was just about to continue when a sudden force seized her wrist and yanked her straight into his arms.
