From American Internet Celebrity to God Among Men

155: Chapter 155 Challenging the StormThe ”Echo Puzzle” project entered its sixth week, and the community’s vitality was off the charts. However, Alex felt it was time to add a bigger ”fire” that would make everyone want to get involved. He had carefully studied the viral interaction models of the future, particularly the essence of MrBeast’s imaginative creativity—the core being ”unexpected participation” and ”low-barrier, high-reward surprises.”

A few days later, the homepages of the ”Flashpoint” and ”Voice of Truth” platforms simultaneously posted a teaser for a brand-new segment: [Alex’s ”Echo Blind Box” Weekly Challenge].

The rules were completely upgraded and perfectly tailored for the web:

1. Every Wednesday, Alex would release a completely unexpected creative challenge, not limited to music:

· Week 1 ”Waste Resonance”: Use anything you consider ”trash” or waste to create an interesting sound or rhythm, and record it.

· Week 2 ”Emotion Color”: Use a mobile phone to film a 15-second video where the screen must be a specific color (e.g., ”Anxious Grey-Blue”), and accompany it with ambient sounds or self-made sound effects that you think best match the ”emotion” of that color.

· Week 3 ”Imitation Master”: Imitate the most iconic voice or speaking rhythm of someone around you (family, friends, colleagues) to create an interesting piece of audio.

· (Future challenges could expand to ”Compose with food,” ”redesign the sound for a classic silent movie clip,” ”create a theme song for your pet,” etc.)

2. Users submit to an exclusive channel, from which Alex’s team will initially screen the 100 most creative, fun, and resonant submissions (”selected” quality fan content).

3. Every Sunday, Alex will personally showcase and critique these 100 works during a livestream. The process will be full of joy and surprise, and he will select the top three on the spot.

4. The rewards are enticing and linked to the challenge: The first-place winner will receive ”An afternoon of creativity in the private Malibu studio with Alex and Taylor” (not limited to music, it could involve cooking a creative meal and recording the sounds, playing with sound installation art, etc.), plus an ”Echo Vision” ”Creative Gift Pack” (containing the latest shooting equipment, recording gear, and a series of quirky and fun creative tools); second and third place will also receive special gift packs and a limited-edition vinyl of ”phantom singer” with a hand-signed autograph.

5. The ultimate ”critical hit”: Alex announced that every week, he would select the one creative idea or sound from all submissions (not limited to the top 100) that caught his eye the most and develop it into a more complete ”Micro-Project.” For example, if he selected a peculiar rhythm recorded with a rusty spring bed in the first week, he might base a short industrial-aesthetic music video on it, invite the submitter to co-sign it, and share the project’s revenue.

Once the teaser was released, the entire internet exploded! This was no longer just for music lovers; it was a carnival for every ordinary person with ideas who loved to play and wanted to showcase their creativity! The barrier to entry was extremely low (all you needed was a phone), the potential upside was extremely high (the chance to collaborate with an idol on a project), and the fun factor was off the charts. Instantly, the ”Echo Blind Box” challenge and related topics swept across social networks, with submissions growing exponentially as countless people rolled up their sleeves, ready to show off their quirky talents.

”phantom singer” also embedded new interactive gameplay. During ad breaks, a ”30-second audience-prompted short film” segment was inserted: The livestream would pop up three quirky keywords derived from the current episode’s elements (such as ”Velvet · Lightning · Typewriter”), and the audience would vote for the one they most wanted to see. Alex or the judges would then have to shoot a fun short video on their phones during the next ad break that matched the keyword, followed by a live draw for signed gifts after it aired. This kind of instant, grounded, and surprise-filled interaction turned ad time into a peak viewership period.

After a series of ”innovation” combos, the user structure of the platforms under ”Echo Vision” became more diverse, and their activity and topicality reached unprecedented heights. Marcus looked at the diverse yet high-quality submissions in the background and sighed, ”Boss, our platform... is becoming the world’s largest online ’Quirky Creative Expo’.”

Alex was satisfied. Borrow the essence, don’t just copy the form. What he wanted was this kind of all-encompassing creative ecosystem that went beyond pure music. It not only discovered more diverse ”folk masters” but also reserved an endless supply of talent and inspiration for potential future content crossovers (such as short dramas, creative ads, and art projects).

The sound design report for the Zack Snyder film project was a huge success (as mentioned before), and his industry status was solidified. High-end invitations followed, which he screened cautiously, keeping his focus unchanged.

Auction information and hints about the ”Spirit of the Wasteland” arrived. Alex’s response was clean and decisive: anonymous bidding with a clear goal. He intuited that the value of those tapes might exceed his imagination.

On the weekend at the beach, Alex described a grander blueprint to Taylor: ” ’Echo Blind Box’ is just a start. I want to slowly turn it into a ’creative currency’ and a ’talent radar.’ An ordinary person’s brilliant idea can be amplified through our platform, turning into real works and revenue. And we will become the biggest ’creative connector’ and ’value amplifier’.”

Taylor’s eyes lit up: ”From discovering good voices to discovering interesting souls and brains? That sounds... more like building a utopia for creators.”

”You could say that,” Alex looked at the starry sky, ”Under the spotlight, there shouldn’t be only one kind of star.”

Under the night sky, [Energy Perception] was filled with the active and colorful glimmer of creative energy from countless ordinary people inspired by the platform. This road was becoming wider and more interesting with every step.
