Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

What was under the water?!

Evan looked down at the calm surface of the lake, and his gaze was soon lost in the milky white water. He could not see anything clearly. It was as if a thick white mist beneath the surface was obscuring his view, blocking his line of sight. But his awareness and perception could feel it; there was definitely something down there.

That something seemed to sense Evan’s gaze as well, and it was floating up quickly.

Getting closer and closer, it was about to reach the lake’s surface…

To Evan’s left, Harry was also looking at the lake, completely unaware that something was approaching.

In fact, except for the white color, he couldn’t see anything clearly.

Harry didn’t feel anything unusual, but since Dumbledore said there was something under the water, then there was something.

He stared at the lake, and his thoughts were all of water monsters, of giant serpents, of demons, kelpies, and sprites. …

Of course, it could be worse, maybe it was that tentacled evil god-like creature…

To be honest, Harry was a little confused.

What exactly was this strange creature they had entered?

He had thought it was the brain of the evil god; after all Evan and Hermione had told him that Salazar Slytherin had dissected an evil god transformed by the Dark wizard, Herpo the Foul, into three parts. In their past adventures, they had destroyed the eyes and body parts respectively, and the remaining part was the brain.

But no matter how Harry looked at it, this strange creature of theirs didn’t look like a brain.

The simplest logic was that they couldn’t just walk around inside an evil god’s brain, right?!

No creature’s brain had this function, not even the evil god’s.

And then there was the lake water. Dumbledore had said it was the purest form of energy, transformed from positive emotions. But in the end, it still looked and behaved like water.

If this really was the brain of an evil god, and it was filled with this much water… Then it would be a waterlogged evil god!

Whether it was an evil god or Herpo the Foul, Harry didn’t claim to understand either — but he just couldn’t imagine a brain of a Dark magical creature transformed by a Dark wizard being filled with water. He turned his head to look at Dumbledore again, hoping for an explanation.

But Dumbledore didn’t seem to be in a hurry to explain, he was waiting for Evan.

As for Evan, something definitely seemed off about him…

In fact, just as Harry thought, Evan had entered a strange state.

Everything around him had vanished, and there was only the white lake in front of him.

While he was staring at the lake, a pair of eyes from within were staring back at him.

It was the creature that was approaching — was it the evil god?!

The feeling of being watched became stronger and stronger, and he seemed to see something…

Evan took a step forward, wanting to see more clearly.

That thing was getting closer and closer. It was watching Evan, staring fixedly at him as he stood by the water.

The next second, something beneath the lake began calling out to Evan, speaking to him again.

Swish, swish — was it the voice of the evil god?

No, it wasn’t!

Swish, swish — was it the song of a Merperson?

No, not that either!

The rhythm was a bit too monotonous, more like the sound of tentacles gliding across the water’s surface.

Evan couldn’t tell anymore, he took another step forward, and the sound abruptly stopped.

Blub-blub, blub-blub, the water surface bubbled, and a shadowy figure flashed by.

The thing under the water was moving so fast that Evan couldn’t see it clearly. He thought he saw a lot of tentacles, but he wasn’t sure…

Just as he was wondering, the shadow passed quickly under the lake again.

This time, in the shadow that passed quickly, Evan saw a hint of dark red.

At once, a chill ran down his spine.

It felt like he had fallen into the water — struggling within a vortex. Every hair on his body stood on end, and from head to toe, he turned ice-cold in an instant.

It was that creature’s eye!

It was staring at Evan!

Right beneath the surface, less than a foot away from him.

Locked in its gaze, Evan couldn’t move. He was gripped by an overwhelming fear.

This was not the kind of fear brought to him by the evil god, but another kind of primal terror rooted in his very body.

As his body froze, the shadow emerged again.

Gudu, Gudu, the water surface bubbled once more.

The shadow grew clearer, and Evan could now make out crimson tentacles, the same kind that had attacked them earlier when they came down, but thicker and more terrifying!

No, this was not the evil god, but a terrifying creature he had never seen before.

In a flash, countless tentacles shot up from beneath the water, lashing toward Evan.

Evan didn’t have time to raise his wand, he was about to be torn to pieces!

Hiss, hiss!

The expected pain did not come. Just as the tentacles touched Evan, two sharp hissing sounds rang out.

All of the tentacles stiffened at once, letting go of Evan and turning downwards rapidly.

In the blink of an eye, they disappeared, and the lake returned to its misty, white stillness.

A burst of silver light appeared on the lake, and the waves sparkled. Evan suddenly woke up. He regained control of his body, staggered back two steps, and was covered in cold sweat. He looked at the white lake with lingering fear, and then raised his head to look at the distant Twin-Serpent Staff.

The hissing sound just now was from the snakes. It was the Twin-Serpent Staff that saved him.

This powerful staff still floated calmly on the surface of the lake, unchanged. The two green giant pythons on it were still quietly entangled together, their eyes closed, as if nothing had happened. It seemed only Evan had experienced it all.

No, he was not the only one!

At this time, Dumbledore asked softly, “Evan, did you see it?”

“I did, professor, Wh-what was that?” said Evan, panting.

“A very powerful magical creature, once thought to be a monster in myths and legends,” said Dumbledore. “Now, it has been enslaved by the brain of Herpo the Foul and has become the biggest difficulty we need to solve.”

“A monster in myths?!” Evan muttered, and suddenly it came to him.

It was the information he had looked up when he was looking for giants three years ago. The book described a similar monster.

No wonder the shadow had seemed so familiar — he had seen it before.

The creature hiding beneath the lake, the one that had just tried to attack him, was a Kraken of the North Sea!

A North Sea Kraken!!!

This was a magical species unique to the North Sea, as well-known as the Cyclops and the sirens of the Strait of Messina, and a magical creature that existed in the mythological era.

The so-called Kraken was a terrifying, giant sea monster.

According to legend, it usually lay at the bottom of the deep sea, occasionally floating to the surface and attacking passing ships. It symbolized a “twisted and entangled” creature and was synonymous with disaster. When it surfaced, some sailors would mistake its massive body for a small island, even going so far as to land on it and set up camp … only to be dragged to the bottom of the sea when it submerged again. …
