Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Evan hoped that things could get a little simpler, but on the other hand, Harry began to miss Felix Felicis.

This potion was addictive — not in the sense of needing frequent use, but just once was enough to make you crave that feeling. After all, who could resist the sensation of being favored by the god of luck, where everything you did felt right and good things happened one after another?

Perhaps it was the effect of the residual power of the Felix Felicis, but after talking with Dumbledore, things began to develop in a good direction.

For example, Katie Bell finally returned to school. And then, Ginny and Dean finally broke up.

But Harry still felt like he was missing just a bit of luck. It was good that Ginny and Dean had broken up, but he still didn’t know how to express his feelings for Ginny. A fierce battle was raging inside his brain, more intense than ever before.

She’s Ron’s sister.

But she’s ditched Dean!

She’s still Ron’s sister.

I’m his best mate!

That’ll make it worse.

If I talked to him first —

He’d hit you.

What if I don’t care?

He’s your best mate!

Harry was thinking about Ron’s reaction after he knew about this, and then thinking about Ginny again. Would Ginny be willing to accept him?

Torn, conflicted, and then torn again.

In the end, he felt like he really did need a little Felix Felicis.

In this way, all problems would be solved, just like the night when he and Evan got the memory from Slughorn.

Without the help of Felix Felicis, they never could have been able to accomplish this impossible task.

And without the help of Felix Felicis, Harry felt there was no way he could express his feelings to Ginny either.

Besides, he wanted another swig of it so he could go check out the Room of Requirement.

Compared to the terrifying idea of confessing to Ginny, that was a reason he could say out loud.

They hadn’t gotten much information from the returned Katie Bell — if anything, they were more confused.

Katie hadn’t seen who had given her the necklace that day. The last thing she remembered was walking into the ladies’ bathroom in the Three Broomsticks. She was sure it was the ladies’. She remembered she pushed the door open, and then her memory went blank.

From that, it seemed that the person who’d cast the Imperius Curse on her had been hiding behind the door of the ladies’ bathroom.

It wasn’t Malfoy, he had been given detention that day and remained at school, but he was definitely the one behind the scenes.

This was something that could be confirmed. Malfoy was carrying out a task assigned to him by Voldemort in the school.

Judging from the incident with Katie, he had an accomplice.

Because Katie had been attacked in the ladies’ bathroom that day, this accomplice was likely to be a girl. Unless Goyle or Crabbe had started using Polyjuice Potion to turn into a girl at that time, and chose to hide in the ladies’ bathroom in the Three Broomsticks, randomly targeting any girl who walked in. If this was true, it was really terrible.

Otherwise, aside from Goyle and Crabbe, there was likely a girl assisting Malfoy.

That was the only conclusion they could draw, but even that didn’t help much.

Harry didn’t intend to wait any longer. On the night Katie came back, he revealed his plan to use the Felix Felicis.

But this plan was immediately rejected by Hermione.

“That would be a complete waste of potion,” said Hermione flatly, putting down the copy of Spellman’s Syllabary she had just taken out of her bag. “Luck can only get you so far, Harry. The situation with Slughorn was different; you and Evan always had the ability to persuade him, you just needed to tweak the circumstances a bit. Luck isn’t enough to get you through a powerful enchantment, though. Don’t go wasting the rest of that potion! You’ll need all the luck you can get if Dumbledore takes you along with him to Azkaban to destroy the brain of that monster…”

She dropped her voice to a whisper. After learning from Evan what Dumbledore talked about with them that night, she had been deeply worried. So much so that she hadn’t even had the energy to scold Evan for getting Elaine drunk and causing a whole scene that evening.

“Since Felix Felicis is so useful, why don’t we make some more?” said Ron. He had recently been involved in an emotional dispute with Lavender, and it seemed that it was not so easy to break up. He also needed the help of Felix Felicis. “It’d be great to have a stock of it so that we can use it at will. Evan, do you know the formula?”

“I do, but this is the most complicated potion, and it takes at least six months!” said Evan.

“That’s too long. There must be another way. Have a look in the book, Harry…”

“Yeah!” Harry pulled his copy of Advanced Potion-Making out of his bag and looked up Felix Felicis.

“Blimey,” he said, “it’s seriously complicated. And like Evan said, it takes six months … You’ve got to let it stew. …”

“Great. I figured as much,” Ron muttered. “Typical.”

Harry was about to put his book away again when he noticed the corner of a page folded down; turning to it, he saw the Sectumsempra spell, captioned “For Enemies,” that he had marked a few weeks previously. He had still not found out what it did, mainly because he did not want to test it around Hermione, but he was considering trying it out on McLaggen next time he came up behind him unawares.

Evan’s attention drifted from the magic book in front of him and noticed Harry staring at the Sectumsempra page, lost in thought.

“If I were you, I wouldn’t use this spell on other students,” he said.

“What?” Harry looked up in surprise.

“Sectumsempra, that spell is dangerous and very powerful,” said Evan. “I have studied it before. It is not a prank spell, but a real magic used for attack. You can use it against Death Eaters, but don’t use it on other students, Harry!”

“I know, of course I won’t use it,” said Harry, snapping shut Advanced Potion-Making, because he had just noticed Hermione frowning at the book in his hand. He really didn’t want to get into another discussion with her about the dangerous magic the Half-Blood Prince had left behind.

In the end, Harry still hadn’t made up his mind to use the Felix Felicis. He decided to let things unfold naturally for a while, and the upcoming final Quidditch match had already taken up most of his attention.

Gryffindor’s position was delicate at the moment, but their team lineup had returned to its optimal state.

The “culprit” McLaggen in the last game was kicked out, and Ron returned to the team and was in the best condition of the year.

Katie replaced Dean. Although Dean’s recent performance was not bad, he was definitely not as good as the old team member Katie, whether in chasing skills, experience or running-in with the team.

The main reason was that he was not getting along with Ginny, who had just broken up, and Harry felt uncomfortable seeing him.

So, Dean had to leave.

He took the blow stoically enough when Harry told him, merely grunting and shrugging, but Harry had the distinct feeling as he walked away that Dean and Seamus were muttering mutinously behind his back. …
