The Young Master in the Shadows

Chapter 546 : Live commentary Tournament (3) : MAX VS ALEX

“ALEX DONNER VS MAX VON WEISE! WHO WILL WIN THIS TIME? WILL IT BE ANOTHER BATTLE OF AMATEURS, OR WOULD THOSE TWO SHOW THE WORLD SOMETHING DECENT?” the commentator asked, making all the audience nod. That was exactly the question they had in mind!

“Let’s end this…” Alex said nervously as she adjusted her spear. She really didn’t want to fight Max, as he should be Victor’s brother, but a moment earlier she heard Victor’s voice, who was using some kind of talisman to contact her. He told her not only that he was really here, but that she needed to get her ass down into the arena and castrate his brother for him! Naturally, she could only comply. “It is time for me to get some revenge for what your brother did to me!” she shouted, using the stupid excuse Victor gave her.

“....What did Victor do to you?” Max asked with a frown. He naturally recognized Alex from the internal family info about the wedding.

“He took me to brothels… Then let me watch as he did the deed, while fully knowing I could not touch women before awakening my bloodline!” Alex spat angrily. “That bastard then dumped all of his shit on me, making me appear as a pervert! Now I will also make sure that your entire family will only be able to watch from now on!”

“WOW… JUST WOW… WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? WHAT KIND OF FAMILY DRAMA IS THIS?” the commentator asked as everyone in the arena had the same questions in their minds.

“Poor young master…” Jasmin clenched her fist.

“Yes… Thankfully, Dear Alex’s will was strong enough, or… or that pervert would have ruined him!” Janet said.

…

“What the hell…” Ann asked with a strange expression as she heard what Alex said. Did Victor have that kind of hobby?

“Don’t ask me…” Theodore quickly said, as he worriedly looked toward Mike; not only him, but most of the people on the von Weise balcony did. Mike was the one with the reputation of attending Brothels and redeeming courtesans!

“I have nothing to do with this!” Mike quickly said.

No one believed him, not even his father, Theodore, who decided to not let his youngest children interact with Mike a lot in the future.

…

“Now, this is what I call entertainment!” Lily chuckled as she looked from the VIP balcony above.

“...You also hold a grudge against Victor?” Zoe couldn’t help asking as she eyed Lily. Hearing the stories they had been telling each other, she had long realized that the Lily she knew was long gone! And then she had already returned to her hidden family.

“...” Lily hesitated. “I know he is your cousin, but that guy is an absolute pervert!” Lily huffed, making both Zoe and Harper frown.

Kuu also raised her eyebrow, wanting to know what relationship her young master had.

“Victor was Lady Liliaraʼs master when she was a slave in the Von Weise family… He took advantage of her!” Malcolm, who noticed Kuuʼs expression, explained. “I will get him for that when we finish with this mess…”

“Oh…..” Kuu, who clenched her fist, didn’t know how to respond to that. The same for Zoe…

“If you dare to touch him, I will be the one coming after you…” Noticing Zoe’s agitation, Mona was the one who finally responded. “Victor is my sister’s husband!”

“WHAT?” both Malcolm asked in shock. ”You mean Mona and Mana...”

”Yup...” Mona sighed.

“Is it me, or does that Victor guy seem to be connected to us in a strange way…” Harper was the one to finally say. “Each one of you… Can you tell me what Victor Von Weise means to you?” she asked as she finally noticed the strange pattern.

“Nothing… I just heard his name once before because of my second cousin’s wedding…” Solara, who was the only real spectator here, said.

“He wanted to marry me, but my grandfather ended up marrying him to my cousin!” Vallery said with a frown. For her, that bastard was just a lolicon who only knows how to bully women! She had seen how he hid under the table at Gary’s wedding. Thankfully, her grandfather never agreed to let her marry him, or she would have chosen to leave the family! Her only man in this life is Prince Caspian!

“Ah… He is my young master….” Kuu bit her lip and looked away bashfully as she remembered that fateful day at the Mines.

”Only that?” noticing her reaction, Haprer asked.

”Ah...We.... WE.....”

“Victor met her at the mines… She was a slave there.... Things happened, and he made her his maid.... You can fill the blanks....” Zoe explained, keeping things concise and helping the stuttering Kuu. She didnʼt approve of her cousinʼs behavior, but in a way, she felt glad he managed to save a nice girl like Kuu!

“Damn…” Malcolm sighed. “I only met him once…. But technically, I was recruited to be an assassin by him,” he shrugged, deciding not to tell Mona that he tried to kill Victor, who was saved by Alice just in time.

“What about you, Harpy?” Mona asked Harper, who seemed to be wanting to dodge this, but couldn’t escape Mona’s glare.

“Ah… He is kinda my fiancé…” Harper scratched the back of her hair.

“WHAT!” All, Malcolm, Mona, and Zoe asked in shock. Harper too?!

“It is my father’s call… I escaped home to stop this!” she said, deciding not to say anything about meeting Victor at the Moon dungeon. She really owed him for helping her back then. He also warned her about going to the Heavenly Sect, but she was just too stubborn to listen!

Hearing her, the balcony went into a strange silence.

“Oh…” Malcolm finally said, “So all of us here have a connection to Victor one way or another…” he pondered.

“It is my fault!” Lily said, noticing the strange atmosphere, and quickly decided to divulge a few things lest those people harm Victor.

“Meaning?” Everyone looked at her.

“I can’t explain in detail, but let’s just say that before I regained my memories, I used one of my bloodline skills to save Victor’s life!... Also, he saved my life!” Lily sighed as if she was regretting it. She didn’t know why, but Victor insisted that she keep playing her role even with her fellow disciple. Still, she chose to listen to him. “I didn’t want to expose this before, but…. “She hesitated.

“But what?” Malcolm asked, with Jealousy hidden deep in his eyes.

“In a way, our fates became connected… I suspect that this connection is what caused all of you to also encounter him one way or another…” she sighed. “The problem with this is that if anything bad were to happen to him, it might affect me, so I would appreciate it if none of you would touch him… If it was possible, I would have already done it myself!” she quickly said.

“Oh ....” Malcolm said as he clenched his fist. “I understand…” he finally added as he looked away. He would need to ask the Oblivion lord and the Fate lord he hadn’t met yet about this later! If it can be solved, then…. He would take care of that pervert himself!

With that thought, he turned to look back at the arena, where the battle began to heat up!

BAM

PING!

BAM!

Alex and Max fought ferociously head to head, not like the Noobs before, but more like well-trained warriors. Although their level was not on par with Monsters like Sebastian, they were not bad at all!

Again and again! Alex attacked, using his spear to fend off Max, who, using twin daggers, kept dodging using a strange movement and trying to approach Alex from strange angles. If one were to look closely, they would realize that Max was momentarily disappearing, merging with his shadows to launch his attacks, but for some strange reason, the moment he used that Shadow ability, Alex was able to pin him down immediately, launching an electrically charged lance strike toward the point, discharging a bolt of thunder that would force Max to exit that state!

The spectators crossed their fingers and hoped someone would explain what was going on, and the commentator, as if hearing their prayers, quickly began to speak again!

“LOOK AT THAT, ALEX IS USING THE THUNDER WARRIOR CLASS’S SKILLS TO HARNESS THE POWER OF ELECTRICITY… IT IS REALLY THE NEMESIS OF MAX’S SHADOW CRAWL SKILL… “ the commentator quickly explained. “WHAT A SKILL… WHAT A SHOW OF QUICK REFLEXES!” it added, glossing over the fact that Alex should not be able to tell where Max was at this quickly, but he was able to do it thanks to Victor, who was secretly alerting her… This would not make Lily suspect anything, as he was using the BloodSlave connection.

BAM

BAM

BAM

“Damn it!” Max silently cursed as he felt his body grow numb bit by bit as Alex continued to attack; although not managing to directly land on him, it was affecting him through the ground, leading his movement to slow down significantly!

“LOOK AT THAT… MAX IS SLOWING DOWN… WELL, THE SHADOW WHISPERER CLASS IS NOT THAT GOOD FOR COMBAT,” the commentator said. “IT IS MORE SUITABLE TO BE A SPY AND DO DESPICABLE THINGS TO WOMEN IN HOTEL ROOMS…” the commentator said, making Max momentarily pose nervously; could it be that the commentator knew anything? Would it reveal that?

His momentary pose didn’t go unnoticed by the old foggies on the balconies, nor by Alex, who used the chance to strike.

BAM!

Max, although acting momentarily distracted, was not really; he was waiting for this opportunity, revealing an opening on purpose… Adjusting his twin daggers, one to hook the lance and one to gut Alex’s stomach. Everything was perfect for his counterattack!

And then…

BAM!

The dagger missed the lance by a full inch as the latter crossed Max’s final barrier of defence, and penetrated what should be a NO TOUCH zone for any man….

“HSSSSSSssss……..”

“DAMN……”

“AH…..” All the men in the arena hissed or took a deep breath at the same time, clenching their legs involuntarily, then….

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh………………………” Max uttered an inhuman scream as Alex pulled back her lance and jumped back to avoid Max’s ruthless yet random last dagger strike as the latter fell to his knees.

“DAMN…. THAT MUST HAVE HURT! AS EXPECTED OF ALEX, DELIVERING A STRIKE THAT PROVES SH….THAT…. NO MAN CAN WITHSTAND!” the commentator, as if also momentarily stunned, quickly resumed. “WHAT A SHOW OF ABSOLUTE RUTHLESSNESS… I AM SPEECHLESS…. THAT STRIKE REALLY TOOK IT FROM THE ROOT… WHAT IS LEFT OF IT IS LEFT DANGLING BY ONLY A THREAD… WHAT AN AMAZING DISPLAY OF FOUL PLAY!” he quickly added, answering the question the audience had as they witnessed Max’s crouch, under his one hand that was covering it, turning deep red!

***

“What does it mean by saying ‘foul play’! This is justice!” Jasmin quickly spat.

“Ehm…” the Sword Sect participant cleared his throat from behind her, making Jasmine quickly turn and realize that the 5 sword sect male disciples that accompanied them were all shooting daggers at her.

“Ah… Sorry…” she quickly said, looking down nervously, only to feel a kind hand pat her back. Looking up, it was her mistress Janet, who secretly gave a thumbs up!

***

“Hssss….. Absolutely ruthless…” Mona said, watching this. “From experience, attaching that thing will not be easy… The way that Alex pulled his dagger made sure to sever no less than 90% of it…”

“I would appreciate it if you stop talking about such stuff…” Malcolm, who involuntarily clenched his legs, said. “This is not how a gentleman fights!”

“....” Lily secretly chuckled at hearing him,

In fact, the only frowning ones in the VIP arena were Zoe, who was Max’s cousin, and Kuu, who sided with Max in this fight, as he was Victor’s brother. At the moment, she was shooting daggers at Alex, who was preparing for another strike, wishing to shred him into pieces!

”Still that last attack was also a bit fishy...” Mona suddenly added. The way Max tried to parry was a bit wrong.

”Meaning?” Zoe asked. Her instinct also told her that there was something wrong, but she couldnʼt put her finger on it.

”Nothing.... Just a random thought....” Mona quickly dismissed her. It was a far chance, but someone might be manipulating things here! And if this was true... They might be in deep trouble, as an enemy who could subvert the Empressʼs systems, was not one to be underestimated!

***

“What a piece of shit foul player… Only animals attack others in their crotches!” A boy who sat next to Sebastian at the Immortal Abode’s Balcony said. “Big brother Sebastian… You should kick this guyʼs ass later!”

“.... Why don’t you try it yourself!” Sebastian spat with annoyance. Back then, he also attacked Alex at that position.

“Ah…. No… I am not that strong…” the boy quickly said as he wondered what he said to make his big disciple brother angry.

***

“That damn Alex… How dare he!” Bill, at the Von Weise balcony, spat angrily, watching his cousin fall to his knees as a pool of blood began to form underneath him!

“Yeah…. “

“True…. This should be considered a foul!”

“Yeah!”

“Will big brother Max be ok?” Roy turned to his father and asked with a frown.

“... He should…” Theodore said. Although feeling a bit distressed because Max was his son, he felt that the latter really deserved this. He had seen the report George showed him, and what Max was secretly doing to those women was something that would have brought retribution, sooner or later! In fact, he was planning to arrange such an accident himself to stop Max’s madness, but was hesitating about it… No, there would be no need, it seemed!

***

“I SURRENDER!” Max quickly yelled as he watched Alex prepare to attack again. He was in no state to fight at all. Not only was the pain unimaginable, but he was worried that if he were not to treat it fast, he might lose his ability as a man forever!

“AND MAX BAILS OUT! AS EXPECTED… ONE WOULD WONDER IF HE WOULD STILL BE A MAN AFTER THIS, BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER…. THE ONLY THING THIS ONE IS LAMANTING IS THAT HE MIGHT HAVE MADE A PERFECT COUPLE WITH ALEX; NOW HE WILL HOLD A GRUDGE UNTIL THE DAY HE DIES LIKE A DOG….” the commentator said, making Alex suddenly pose as she watched Max disappear. Could it be that the commentator realized her gender? Sadly, it was talking too vaguely to tell!

A moment later, above another pillar, a new name appeared.

ALEX** DONNER

“NOW, WHO WILL COME DOWN TO PUNISH THIS FOUL PLAYER? WHO WILL TEACH ALEX WHAT A REAL MAN REALLY IS?” the commentator, totally ignoring the strange asterisk in the name that made Alex swear a bit more, asked as the countdown started.

60… 59… 58… 57…

Hearing it, no less than 10 different parties began to prepare. Some out of spite, some for other purposes!

***

“Did you find anything?” one fat man asked, looking from a high balcony.

“No… This one too has his fate threads all jumbled up!” Mirage, the head disciple of the fate sect, replied as she tried to use her skills again. She had been trying ever since entering this place, but it was not working. “Someone is interfering, probably more than one power… The threads keep cutting and reconnecting, as if we are in the middle of a big storm…”

“... Oh… It doesn’t matter; his lordship would be the final winner at the end!” the fat man said, looking toward a certain high balcony above. The one belonging to the Heavenly sect.

***

“Young master… Your condition is getting worse…” Ruby said as everyone’s eyes focused on the arena. “Your soul keeps tearing… ”

“... I can feel it… Victor said. For the last five minutes, he kept wanting to reveal Alex’s secret, but kept stopping himself.

“Try to keep healing me until the second round. Once I meet Lily in the Arena, I will be able to get some soul energy out of her necklace!” he sighed. “Now… Alex, you better not lose!” he said as he felt the murderous intent in the entire Arena focus on one target!

”I... I understand.... What about Max... Didnʼt you plan to finish him off?”

”There are troublesome spectators, so they might notice something... No need to worry, revenge is a plate one has to enjoy slowly!” he spat, glancing toward the Von Weise balcony where the healer hurried to help Max try to save what can be saved, not being aware that Rita, who stood behind acting as if she was also worried about her cousin, was secretly using her power to make sure that the damage would never be healed!
