Chapter 52: Chapter 50: Attending the Banquet

Police station, Xiao Tian was distracted all morning, even when Yu Ningxue came to him to investigate the missing little girl, he turned down the offer.

As the morning passed in a daze, Xiao Tian’s phone rang, showing an unfamiliar number.

Frowning, Xiao Tian answered the call.

”Hello, Xiao Tian.”

”Who is this?” Xiao Tian wasn’t in a good mood, so his tone was understandably sharp.

The person on the other end was evidently irritated by Xiao Tian’s tone, but after taking a few deep breaths, continued speaking.

”I’m Shi Minghao. My family is hosting a cocktail party at ’Heaven on Earth’ tonight. We’ve had some unpleasantness between us recently, and I hope to resolve our conflicts through this event.”

”We’ve invited many elites from Shanghai, you must come and attend!”

Xiao Tian squinted his eyes slightly; he certainly didn’t believe Shi Minghao wanted to resolve any enmity.

After all, he had killed Shi Minghao’s biological son and ruined his own nephew!

Anyone would not let go of such hatred.

No matter what tricks Shi Minghao played, Xiao Tian wouldn’t care. Instead, he was curious about how Shi Minghao planned to deal with him.

Just as well, he needed an outlet to vent his inner resentment.

”Blame yourself, Shi Minghao, for walking right into the line of fire!”

”Alright, I’ll come over then.”

”Great, it’s settled then!” Shi Minghao said excitedly and then hung up the phone.

”Is he really that excited? He can’t seriously think he can get revenge, can he?” Xiao Tian sneered and muttered to himself.

Just then, Director Bai Tao walked in, looked around, and found only Xiao Tian in the office, then walked over to Xiao Tian.

”Director Bai, any instructions?” Xiao Tian remained seated, not standing up, as he asked.

Bai Tao, not taking offense, given Xiao Tian’s ability and his unfathomable background, dared not to take liberties.

”Hmm, is Yang He not here?”

”Captain Yang went out early in the morning. Do you have something for him?”

”Oh, when he returns, let him call me. There’s a meeting tonight, and I want him to host it on my behalf; I’m attending a cocktail party tonight.” Bai Tao replied.

”Director Bai, you’re really mixing up business and pleasure?” Xiao Tian feigned surprise.

Bai Tao rolled his eyes at Xiao Tian and said, ”The Shi family is hosting a cocktail party tonight, and I heard they’ve invited all the elites and dignitaries from Shanghai. They even sent an invitation to me; I can’t not attend.”

Although Xiao Tian seemed to disregard the Shi family casually, it was based on his absolute power. Actually, the Shi family had a significant influence in Shanghai, and even Bai Tao, who always had a distaste for them, had to endure and attend for smoother future work.

”Oh?” Xiao Tian raised an eyebrow, ”Hmm, understood, I’ll tell Captain Yang when he returns.”

”Alright, I’ll be going then.” After giving instructions, Bai Tao left Xiao Tian’s office.

It was close to quitting time in the afternoon when Yang He returned. After passing on Bai Tao’s message to Yang He, Xiao Tian prepared to leave for the Shi family’s invitation.

Just as Xiao Tian was about to leave, Yu Ningxue walked in from outside.

Thinking that in such a setting, not having a female companion would seem uncouth, Xiao Tian approached Yu Ningxue and quietly asked.

”Hey, beautiful master, there’s free food; want to come?”

For a woman who loves food, the lure of cuisine far surpasses clothes, cosmetics, and everything else.

Yu Ningxue’s eyes lit up, but being invited by Xiao Tian made her hesitate for a moment.

”Free meal again?” Yu Ningxue knew well what kind of person Xiao Tian was; he absolutely had the character of taking advantage whenever possible and would never willingly spend money, except maybe for beauties.

”Of course! It’s Heaven on Earth!” Xiao Tian continued to entice.

Upon hearing Heaven on Earth, Yu Ningxue’s eyes shone even brighter.

Speaking of Heaven on Earth, it’s the most famous club in Shanghai, not only luxuriously decorated but also reputed for its food. However, the place operates on a membership basis; ordinary folks can’t get in, and Yu Ningxue had never been there.

”Alright, let me change clothes.” Yu Ningxue hurriedly went to the dressing room as Xiao Tian grinned mischievously and sat back, browsing the newspaper.

In less than a quarter of an hour, Yu Ningxue returned in new attire.

Wearing a fitted plain evening dress that reached her knees, and with shoulders half exposed. Although seemingly conservative, paired with Yu Ningxue’s unadorned face, the ensemble exudes a unique elegance.

”Let’s go!” Yu Ningxue urged, coming to Xiao Tian’s side.

”Alright!” Xiao Tian stood up, casually wrapped his arm around Yu Ningxue’s waist, and walked out.

”Kid, are you looking to die!” Yu Ningxue elbowed Xiao Tian in the stomach, making him hunch his back in pain.

”A woman’s heart is the most venomous! We haven’t even gone to the cocktail party, and you’re already beginning to betray.” Xiao Tian rubbed his aching stomach, complaining.

”Didn’t you say we were going for a meal? How did it become a cocktail party?”

Yu Ningxue narrowed her eyes, shimmering coldly, as she asked.

”It’s all the same; there’s food at the cocktail party too!” Xiao Tian laughed it off, pulling Yu Ningxue into a taxi.

When they arrived at ’Heaven on Earth,’ the entrance was already filled with cars, resembling a luxury car exhibition, including all sorts of BMWs and Mercedes, with many Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris.

Yet, Xiao Tian and Yu Ningxue, arriving by taxi, seemed exceptionally unusual, drawing the attention of the newly arriving elite crowd.

They knew well that the Shi family was hosting the cocktail party here tonight, and the club was not open to the public; everyone coming was there for the event.

But for those qualified to attend the cocktail party, how could they arrive by taxi?

But that woman is quite something. I wonder if there will be a chance to get close to her later.

Everyone’s focus was on Yu Ningxue. After glancing at Xiao Tian, a thought emerged in their minds.

Looks like there’s a big chance!

Everyone thought Xiao Tian lacked any competitive edge. As long as they showed a bit of charm and threw around some money, Yu Ningxue would ditch Xiao Tian and fall into their arms.

”Oh, isn’t this the Eldest Young Master Xiao? What, no car? If you don’t have a car, just say so, and I’ll have someone pick you up!”

At this time, Shi Cheng, who was welcoming guests at the door, spotted Xiao Tian and made a sarcastic remark. However, his leg hadn’t healed completely, and he was leaning on a crutch, hobbling over to Xiao Tian after some struggle.

Eldest Young Master Xiao? Do we even have a Xiao family in Shanghai?

Shi Cheng’s words provoked suspicions among the crowd.

But judging by Shi Cheng’s tone, it seemed there was some resentment between the two, causing the audience to feel a wave of sympathy for Xiao Tian.

They knew what kind of person Shi Cheng was—definitely one to hold grudges. Provoking someone like him would be fatal in Shanghai.

Yet Xiao Tian only sneered and looked maliciously at Shi Cheng, saying, ”Seems Young Master Shi’s leg isn’t fully healed yet. What’s wrong? Do you not want the other leg? Want to spend the rest of your life in bed?”

”You!” Shi Cheng’s eyes widened with anger upon hearing Xiao Tian, instinctively taking a few steps back.

”Did this person break Second Young Master Shi’s leg?”

”Impossible, right?”

”Judging by their words, it’s quite possible!”

”But if it was this person, why would the Shi Family invite him to the party?”

Everyone stared at Xiao Tian with shock and curiosity.

In the Shanghai circle, no one dared lay a hand on the Shi Family.

The crowd began to take Xiao Tian seriously, and even their desire for Yu Ningxue slightly waned.

No matter if it’s true or not, daring to speak to Shi Cheng like this means this young man must have a significant background.

He might be an outsider, part of a powerful family.

Seeing Shi Cheng silent, Xiao Tian smirked disdainfully, then raised his hand, signaling to Yu Ningxue.

Yu Ningxue rolled her eyes at him but then obediently linked arms with Xiao Tian, and the two started walking toward the entrance.

Passing Shi Cheng, Xiao Tian said with a smile, ”A good dog doesn’t block the road; seems like Young Master Shi is a naughty dog!”

”You!”

Shi Cheng was again infuriated by Xiao Tian, jumping in anger, but powerless, he begrudgingly stepped aside.

The watching Shanghai elites and celebrities were all shocked, wondering who exactly Xiao Tian was.

As Xiao Tian approached the venue’s entrance, two security guards coldly asked, ”Please show your invitation.”

”Invitation? I don’t have that thing.” Xiao Tian shrugged casually.

No invitation?

Is this kid here to cause trouble?

The onlookers were dumbfounded.

They started questioning their earlier assumptions.

”Then sorry, you can’t go in.”

These two guards belonged to the venue, not the Shi Family, otherwise, they wouldn’t have stopped Xiao Tian.

Tonight, Xiao Tian was indeed the star!

In the Shi family’s eyes, Xiao Tian was the protagonist of a different story — the one being humiliated!

How could they not let him in?

”Really not letting me in?” Xiao Tian curved his lips into a smile.

”Without an invitation, entry is denied!”

The guards maintained a strict business-like demeanor, refusing any favors.

Seeing Xiao Tian stopped, Shi Cheng’s face lit up with pleasure.

To see Xiao Tian face challenges was a rare sight for him; he eagerly watched the unfolding drama.

He didn’t truly aim to block Xiao Tian’s entry.

It was merely to irritate Xiao Tian and relieve some of his built-up resentment.

He could already picture Xiao Tian flushed with embarrassment in front of his female companion.

However, Xiao Tian’s skills in wooing women were high; his partners changed frequently, yet each of them was of high quality.

This one, compared to Lin Bingxuan, was in no way inferior!

Shi Cheng thought to himself.

But what happened next was completely unexpected for Shi Cheng.

Who is Xiao Tian?

He is someone who goes his own way, making others tread no path at all.

If Shi Cheng, this brainless young master, could predict this, how could Xiao Tian survive in the scene?
