A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 556: Luck？

Failure and success often required that bit of luck!

Grimm looked at the broken branch distractedly, and the slackened eyes under his Mask of Truth gradually began to gain focus, as his eyes started focusing on the broken branch.

The broken branch was a piece of scrap that was unintentionally purchased using several low-level Magic Stones during his time as a Sorcerer-Apprentice at the Black Isotta Sorcerer Academy when he had just invented the Love Vial to obtain Magic Stones as profit.

Later, Grimm accidentally discovered the cut on the broken branch. The flash of ephemeral lightning symbol was mistakenly considered as a rare elemental rune. Grimm regarded it as a treasure and kept observing this rare rune, intending to gain some kind of thunder-attribute ability.

Even for this reason, Grimm had also specifically studied thunder elemental knowledge during his Sorcerer-Apprenticeship days.

Alas, however, Grimm failed.

This was a failure that might have been forgotten. This weird thunder elemental rune did not give Grimm a whole new ability. It was not a rare elemental rune other than the twenty six basic elemental runes. Grimm used to invest a lot of time and energy on this during his Sorcerer-Apprenticeship days, yet he did not succeed.

However, through this weird lightning pattern absorbed by his body, Grimm discovered that there were thousands of lightning patterns on this broken branch. If all of them were to be absorbed, it might trigger a new thunder law, and then he would be able to transform himself to be the same as this broken-branch-like constitution.

In order not to turn the temporary failure into a real failure, Grimm decided to continue to study the broken branch’s lightning patterns.

However, for these thousands of lightning patterns within this broken branch, they only appeared at certain fixed times one by one. It took Grimm this long to absorb a lightning pattern. He wanted to absorb all the thousands of lightning patterns within the broken branch in order to cause the thunder law to befall him, which was almost impossible to accomplish.

But Grimm did not give up on his pursuit of unknown knowledge and carried on persistently. As such, luck was finally born in this relentless Sorcerer.

Within the knowledge of the Infinity Eye imparted to Grimm by Master Peranos, the Dynamic Vision had the function of accelerating the absorption of the lightning patterns!

Since then, observing the broken branch’s lightning patterns had almost become a skill as easy as breathing. After hundreds of such years, Grimm had even approached perfection in recent years, and he had begun to feel that some kind of strange law was starting to take root.

Grimm knew that it was the mysterious thunder law that changed the constitution of this ordinary broken branch by accident.

But now, Grimm had discovered that the secret that could carry the Destructive Force had always been by his side, and had always been on himself!

This was simply an irony.

“Haha, hahaha hahaha…”

Grimm released his silk bun, letting his hair fall, as his tired eyes slowly lifted from gazing at the ground with self-mockery and helplessness with the teasing of fate.

If there were no disasters like this and this so-called ‘luck’, he was afraid that even if ten thousand years had passed, he would not have attempted something as foolish as to put this broken branch in to give it a shot.

This disaster was Grimm’s luck!

Who knew that this so-called luck would be the result of the collapse of the gradually aging Destructive Force Observation Logger in Grimm’s continuous experiments over so many years?

No one knew this. What people would know in the future was just Grimm’s amazing luck at this particular moment.

The noonday sun was shining brightly in Grimm’s eyes, but it did not seem to be glaring at all. Grimm held the broken branch high, and his mouth curved into a reassuring smile, a winner’s smile, and his eyes were moist with excitement.

“Master, this is… you succeeded!?”

Little Myna appeared on Grimm’s shoulder. After not understanding Grimm’s change for a while, he immediately reflected after looking at the broken branch in Grimm’s hand, and screamed with excitement.

“Yes, I succeeded! I found it, I finally found it!”

With a flicker in Grimm’s hands, the broken branch was placed into the Dimensional Gap. In a relaxed and happy mood, he looked at the Demon-Hunter Sorcerers that were looking at him strangely from all directions, and jumped out of the giant crater caused by the Destructive Force.

Grimm smiled and looked at a tall Seven Rings Snail Messenger, completely relieved from the loss, failure and disappointment he just experienced.

“Let’s go, we’re going to the trial, right? This is a disaster caused by my laboratory. It is my personal fault. I am willing to make reasonable compensations under the fair ruling of the Holy Tower of Seven Rings.”

On the other side, Millie came over and said, “Grimm, what happened to you? Are you okay?”

Grimm’s sudden change made people around him scratch their heads in bewilderment.

Grimm looked at Millie and calmly said, “Of course I’m okay. I’m fine, and better than ever!”

His clothes were disheveled, his silky hair was cluttered, and his face was haggard, but Grimm’s smile at this moment left Millie utterly dumbfounded.

“Caw, caw, caw, caw, caw! Millie, you have to work hard! My master is going to take a big step forward! Caw, caw, caw, caw, caw!”

Little Myna laughed excitedly.

He was sure of it when Grimm were to master the Destructive Force!

This would mean that Grimm was no longer a negligible Sorcerer, which meant that Grimm would have completed the qualitative energy change a Level-3 Great Elemental Sorcerer was required to complete in order to be promoted to a Stigmata Sorcerer!

Not only that, the Destructive Force was neither a high-level energy nor a low-level energy.

This would suddenly increase Grimm’s combat effectiveness by several times, to the extent that creatures that were on par with Grimm’s combat power at this time could not even begin to imagine.

This was an Elemental Sorcerer, a Sorcerer that used knowledge as combat power.

At the same time, Grimm, who was following the Seven Rings Snail Messenger, wondered where the strange thunder law within the broken branch originated from, and why it was able to carry the Destructive Force.

It was not an advanced energy that could carry low-level energy. Grimm’s Mystical Energy of the Darkness Pool was an example.

The Darkness Pool was Mystical Energy, but it represented a Level-9 creature that surpassed the Endless World. There was no doubt that such power was more advanced than the Destructive Force.

But the fact of the matter was, the Darkness Pool could not carry the Destructive Force.

Objects that could carry Destructive Force had to have a basis, a reason which could be explained by sorcerer knowledge.

It seemed that this knowledge could only be researched after Grimm had transformed into the body of this strange thunder law, when he would then be able to carry out backward inferencing research. The result of inferential reasoning would inevitably be much easier.

One month later.

A Stigmata Sorcerer under Seven Rings Celestial Sorcerer served as a justice audit. More than twenty Level-3 Great Sorcerers, who performed their own duties, adjudicated Grimm.

“The Sorcerer, Grimm, has to pay a total of one thousand seven hundred and fifty Sorcerer Essences for the Holy Tower to repair the Demon-Hunter Castle. Sorcerer Grimm, you have two options.”

The old Sorcerer, who was reading the verdict, looked at Grimm.

As Grimm’s fault was accidental, and with the addition of his Rank-1 Honor Badge, he was not restrained.

“First, you will devote two thousand five hundred years under the arrangement of the Holy Tower of Seven Rings, and become a member of the sorcerer devotee under the laws of the Tower. Second, you will be fined to accumulate the necessary Sorcerer Essences in a hundred years’ time. If you fail to accumulate Sorcerer Essences after one hundred years, you will be imprisoned in the Seven Rings in accordance with the rule of one Sorcerer Essence per year. ”

Grimm smiled.

Without hesitation, Grimm chose the second option.

‘So, I will start a new Demon-Hunting Expedition right away and use a hundred years’ time to earn and accumulate one thousand seven hundred and fifty Sorcerer Essences, right?’
