A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 454: The Maze of the Sea Serpent VI

The Phagocytic Shell was the name given by the Acraepoids in the Infernal Spirit World, whereas the creatures who were trapped in the Spectral World were collectively called the sea serpent shells.

Mount Serpentine—the only hope or getaway for those who were reluctant to stay?

Grimm took a deep breath anxiously. This was a crucial piece of information. At least it meant someone had left this world before, it was not definite despair and desperation.

A sorcerer and a pupae were flying in a wondrous world full of sea serpent shells.

Grimm realized that all his sorcery skills were useless in this world due to the changes in the laws. Although he could manage the nature force, there was no law lever that could be leveraged because of the lack of Balanced Law in this world. In addition, the basic elemental laws were also scarce and unorganized.

“Huh?”

Surprisingly, despite his earlier findings, he also realized that in addition to his strong constitution, he could manipulate two other abilities, namely the ability of the Sabbatic Goat Staff and the Darkness Pool that he had recently obtained in the Infernal Spirit World!

Could the maze of the sea serpent not hinder the connection of the Mystical Energy?

Or, were all Spectral Worlds not able to hinder the Mystical Energy connection?

Grimm fell into deep thoughts.

The Mystical Energy originated from the Level-9 creatures that were beyond the Level-8 creatures. After they had transcended to Level 9, they briefly stayed in the endless world before proceeding to another higher-level Unknown World. Then, the powerful energy they had inherited became the Special Law in the endless world, that energy was called the Mystical Energy.

Therefore, based on the fundamentals of the energy, the quality level of the Mystical Energy was seemingly higher and more powerful than that of the Level-7 Grand Celestial Sorcerer.

However, at the end of the day, Mystical Energy was categorized as a channeling energy, similar to the shrine keeper of the Infernal Spirit World who borrowed their power from the deity. In the context of the Sorcerers Knowledge, it was considered as an external force. It would be like putting the cart before the horse had even moved if one were to rely too much on their energy.

Puff…

With the emergence of the Darkness Pool around Grimm’s body, a dark void suddenly appeared in this dim world as this darkness could swallow light source. Any creature limited to the visual light perception could no longer see Grimm’s presence.

Despite the abrupt existence of the Darkness Pool in this world, the pupae could still perceive Grimm’s location.

“Cuckoo, you can use your sorcery abilities here?” The pupae asked, amused. For most creatures, sorcery was mysterious and fearsome. They could not comprehend why the seemingly weak sorcerers could exert such enormous and incredible powers.

Grimm retracted the Darkness Pool. He restored his previous appearance—donning the loose sorcerer robe, the gray-white Mask of Truth with the black ring on his head and a shoulder guard with the shape of the Goat Skull on one of his shoulders.

“Only some limited sorcery,” Grimm explained with a sigh of disappointment.

Grimm’s remarks, however, aroused great interest from the pupae, who said in the sorcerer language, “Cuckoo, that’s great, you can master your sorcery in the maze of the sea serpent! You are very likely to become the fourth sorcerer leader in Mount Serpentine.”

The fourth sorcerer leader?

Grimm asked, “What do you mean? Are you saying there are only three sorcerers who can use sorcery here? How can we fight against hostile creatures?”

“You’ll know when we get there,” the pupae said. He stopped in the middle of his flight and looked up at the vast grayish whirlpool in the sky.

Grimm and the pupae had already flown for a considerable distance. Grimm estimated that their flight time was almost equivalent to a few days in the Sorcerer World. The vast whirlpool swirling in the sky had begun to subside to a state of complete cessation.

“The Eye of Destruction is coming, we better hide in the sea serpent shell.”

Carrying his obese body, the pupae hopped to a nearby Phagocytic Shell which was about seven meters wide. He pried his two front claws into the gap of the shell and pushed hard until it opened.

Shockingly, there was no creature in this shell but a meatball that looked like a silkworm chrysalis. The ball was squirming constantly on the flesh of the shell.

The pupae grabbed the meatball and stuffed it into the Phagocytic Shell next to them.

“If you don’t wake up, this is what you’ll become sooner or later.”

Grimm found another Phagocytic Shell big enough for him. When he pried open the shell, a similar silkworm-like meatball was squirming inside the shell.

Upon the pupae’s remark, due to his observation skill of studying the arcane truth, Grimm instinctively ripped the meatball’s coat, revealing an eyeball right in front of him.

“What is this!?” The eyeball in Grimm’s hands looked like it was asleep.

“The sea serpent’s pearl, you can think of it as a pearl in the shell. They will wake up the moment the Eye of Destruction arrives. They are the most terrifying thing in this world, or also known as the ruler of this world.”

Grimm recoiled in shock. He quickly stuffed the pearl into another Phagocytic Shell.

The pupae did not go straight into the shell. After a series of cuckoos, he spat out one Sorcerer Coin and it fell to the ground.

“What are you doing?” Grimm asked curiously as he picked up the coin.

“This is a Sober Sorcery invented by the most intelligent sorcerer in the Sorcerer Coalition, Grandalph, according to the Special Law in this maze. Don’t attempt to use death as a way to escape the maze of the sea serpent. Otherwise, when you return to reality, you will have doubts and then you will really die.”

Grimm was stunned, comprehending the disadvantage of using death to leave the illusion.

The truly horrible illusion was like a curse. Even if the subject had disintegrated the illusion, he would begin to have doubts about reality as a part of the illusion, and there would be no way out.

As this went on, attempting to kill himself to disintegrate the illusion would result in certain and actual death.

The pupae squeezed himself into the Phagocytic Shell, lied flat and supported the shell with his hands. The flesh of the shell transformed into tiny tentacles, constantly rubbing the pupae’s green smooth skin.

“Throw it out and imagine that you want the coin to be erected, then you can distinguish illusion from reality.”

Grimm gasped in shock, this method…

Weighing the Sorcerer Coin on his palm, Grimm flicked and fiddled the coin between his agile fingers. He placed the coin on his thumb and tossed it up into the air. The coin spun as it was tossed up high and dropped to the ground after two breaths.

Hexagram pattern! Head!

Grimm’s eyes sparkled in astonishment. He gapped his mouth but clamped it shut before he said anything.

The pupae said in a stern voice, “The Eye of Destruction is about to come, hurry up and get in the shell. Remember, you must only wake up when you enter the illusion. If you don’t wake up in the illusion but to leave the shell when the Eye of Destruction comes, you are heading to the road of destruction.”

After his warning, the Phagocytic Shell that the pupae was lying in slowly closed. The grayish shell slowly turned colorful.

Grimm nodded and lied down in his shell, watching silently as the shell slowly clamped shut.

He felt like he had woken up after a deep and long slumber.

Grimm opened his eyes and saw the corner of Lefay’s lips curled upwards with a beautiful smiley arc. She was lying beside him at the moment, she quickly closed her eyes as she spotted his sudden movement, pretending to be asleep.

Grimm planted a gentle kiss on Lefay’s cheek and whispered lovingly in her ear, “My fair lady, it’s time to wake up.”

Lefay giggled and swiftly turned around, jumping onto Grimm’s. Her fair and enchanting figure was vividly displayed in front of Grimm, her long black hair fell on Grimm’s chest. He saw his affectionate reflection on Lefay’s large sparkly eyes.

“I have a surprise for you!” Lefay said, her tone mischevious and enigmatic.

Grimm asked, “What surprise?”

“When I was in the Dim Well last night, the Guardian of Spring called to see me. After learning that I was controlled by Hattori the Hidden using the Hidden Bugs, he decided to help me get out of Hattori the Hidden’s control.”

Grimm gasped in surprise, he quickly asked, “How does he plan to help?”

“He asked me to use the World-Core Fragments to be promoted to an official sorcerer, and it will automatically resolve the Hidden Bugs!” Lefay exclaimed excitedly as Grimm listened in astonishment.

Lefay, who was sitting on Grimm, hugged his head into her voluminous and plump breasts. She continued, delighted, “From now on, let’s live happily ever after, okay?”

“Of course!”

Grimm’s laughter resonated across the room like the pleasant sound of the windchime. “Let’s visit the Guardian of Spring tonight!”

At night.

The hut was full of mystical and esoteric vibes. Under the moonlight, the shadow of the big tree swayed and danced with the wind. The ambience in the hut was somewhat depressing. This was the place where one of the Guardian of Spring’s clones lived. This was the Eye of the Sorcerer World.

Grimm grabbed a few coins and said to Lefay, “I can’t go in, you go ahead…”

In the middle of his sentence, Grimm’s hands froze in midair suddenly. His eyes stared at the gold coins in his hands, his memory seemed to have traveled through time and space, and his deep subconsciousness was fumbling for something.

Skeptical of his rampant thoughts, Grimm tossed the coins into the air.

With a clear ‘clink’, the coins dropped onto the ground and they stood erected!

At the same time, Grimm lifted his head only to see his surroundings crack and break like a mirror, soon transforming into infinite darkness.

He opened his eyes!

The pupae’s flat voice came from the gap of his grayish Phagocytic Shell, “The Eye of Destruction has subsided, let’s go.”
