Chapter 453: The Maze of the Sea Serpent V

These shells of the Spectral World were mostly black-gray in color with the sporadic rainbow-colored few. The size ranged from less than ten meters to tens of meters.

The enclosed space where Grimm was in was the insides of one such shell.

Crack…

The shell was cracked open by Grimm as he stepped on the sticky meaty flesh beneath him. He climbed out of the shell with great effort and stumbled into this strange and mysterious Spectral World.

“Uh, I still can’t get in touch with Little Myna.”

Grimm’s first idea was to check if he had left the Spectral World from Little Myna’s Spacetime Coordinated Access Ability. Then, he gave it some thought and came out with the second idea which was to enter the Spectral World by sensing the Boundary of Relative Speed, to no avail.

Squeak…

The colorful shell that Grimm had escaped from closed again and floated alongside the dense cloud of mystifying shells.

Were these all Phagocytic Shells?

He lifted his gaze. The grayish sky was a large whirlpool, and the center of the whirlpool was like a clutter of tube eyes leading to an unknown world.

What surprised Grimm was that there was a land in this Spectral World.

“Hum…”

After a ghost-like cry, some creatures were spewed out of the tube eyes of the whirlpool center. In the next moment, they were caught by the Phagocytic Shells which looked like a gaping wide mouth. As the shells swallowed these creatures, they closed their shells with a loud squeak, becoming one of the Phagocytic Shells and slowly descended.

Grimm seemed to have figured out how he had ended up in this Spectral World.

He speculated that these Phagocytic Shells were creatures from the Spectral World.

The Spectral World.

Some sorcerers described it as a wondrous world between the Material World and Spectral World among the endless world. If it was a complete Spectral World, it meant that this Spectral World was accessible from any corner of the endless world.

In some ways, the Spectral World belonged to an infinitely large concept system, hence there was no upper limit for the power of the Spacetime Seal, which could be terrible.

Other sorcerers described the Spectral World as an absolute wall between the endless world and higher latitude spaces. It was the only way to explain the bizarre and peculiar Laws of the Spectral World.

As a Level-1 sorcerer, Grimm did not have the privilege to study the profound and mysterious sorcerers knowledge.

Even with Grimm’s gifted ability to connect the Dimensional Gaps, he had to at least achieve the level of a Stigmata Sorcerer to obtain sufficient memory and magical power to study the relative knowledge via Little Myna.

Right now, Grimm’s only hope was that this Spectral World was not the high-intensity enclosed Spectral World similar to the Dimensional Gaps, otherwise, he would not have any chance to escape from this Spectral World.

Even Little Myna, who was a partner to Antonio, a powerful Grand Celestial Sorcerer, had been stuck in the Dimensional Gaps for a long time before returning to reality through Grimm. He could not survive that long.

“Damn it…” Grimm cursed, exasperated.

His intention was only to probe a tiny sea area in the Infernal Spirit World, he figured that it was possibly a World Law catastrophe for Level-3 creatures. He did not expect to be accidentally sucked into this Spectral World.

Not only was the Law of the Spectral Worlds different from the Balanced Law of the endless world, but each Spectral World also had its own unique law.

For example, the Dimensional Gaps.

The Dimensional Gaps were the imaginative world illustrated in the biographical books and stories in the endless world. It was the gathering place of those mystifying creatures described by the stories and the books. Anything strange and incomprehensible could happen in this kind of world, it was a truly horrifying Spectral World.

After all, it represented the imagination of the intelligent creatures in the endless world.

However, since this Spectral World was somehow connected to the endless world and had sucked Grimm in, at least it did not have the high-intensity function like the Dimensional Gaps. Could it be a world similar to the Nightmare World?

As for the Laws in this world…

Grimm’s current findings suggested that this world allowed the creatures to sink into the wonderful fantasy world constructed by themselves in the Phagocytic Shells. Was the purpose of doing so to culminate some survival energy for these Phagocytic Shells?

In other words, was this world constructed by these mysterious Phagocytic Shells?

He was already sober in the Phagocytic Shell, yet he was still trapped in the Spectral World and was unable to communicate with Little Myna in the real world via Spacetime Coordinated Access. Why?

Grimm landed on the hard ground.

There were also some Phagocytic Shells on the ground level. Some of which floated a few meters high, some had fallen onto the ground, and some were even half-buried in the ground. As for the presence of Phagocytic Shells underground, Grimm was not sure.

There was not a single plant on the ground, and the ground itself did not consist of soil and sand, but a layer of hard meat-like flesh.

Because this was a Spectral World, the laws of time, gravity and elemental energy did not work here as they did in the real world.

After a moment of pondering, Grimm approached a black-gray Phagocytic Shell. The shell was about two meters, much smaller than the five-meter Phagocytic Shell that Grimm came out from.

Grimm grabbed both sides of the shell, squeezed his hand into the gap and forcefully pried it opened.

Since this Phagocytic Shell was much smaller than the one that had trapped Grimm, it was relatively easy to pry it open.

Gradually, a half-a-meter-tall manlike creature with green skin, a big belly, and a small head was unveiled before Grimm. This creature had long nails and meat pads on its toes, representing its excellent ability in gripping, bouncing and running.

At this moment, the little creature was lying on the flesh of the Phagocytic Shell, the little tentacles of the flesh were reaching into the creature’s skin.

The creature was deep in his slumber, intoxicated by the self-constructed wonderful dream, his face blushing with a sweet smile.

This view…

Had the creature become the pearl of the Phagocytic Shell?

After some thought, Grimm closed the shell and decided to look for the extremely rare colorful Phagocytic Shell nearby. According to Grimm’s time sense in the Spectral World, he finally found a shell more than ten meters large after an hourglass.

After nearly exerting all his strength, Grimm eventually managed to pry the shell slightly, opening a tiny gap.

However, Grimm’s action seemed to have awakened the creature inside.

Crack!

The shell opened by itself. The dual-colored eyes under Grimm’s Mask of Truth watched intensely as a frog-like intelligent creature with a slender and masculine body, smooth and moist skin looked back at him.

The creature was about three meters tall, it had a pair of apricot eyes and eagle-like pupils.

“Hello.”

Grimm took the initiative to communicate with the creature using the Soul Echo. He was also ready to defend himself and escape at any time in case of danger.

It was because Grimm could feel the exceptionally powerful breath of this intelligent creature, he estimated that the creature had reached a Level-3 biological level!

“Sorcerer?”

Grimm was caught by surprise as he heard the giant frog stating his identity in the Sorcerers language, his heart skipped a beat!

He recoiled in shock because, one, the unexpected twist in the event of progression; two, he was worried.

As a powerful and civilized world that constantly went on Demon-Hunting expeditions, the Sorcerer World had inadvertently conquered countless worlds through these expeditions. The hatred of some intelligent creatures whose homes had been destroyed by the sorcerers was probably hurtful enough to penetrate into their bones and imprint into their souls.

Grimm nodded cautiously. “Yes.”

Surprisingly, the big frog’s reaction was rather dull, in fact, it changed from being a little agitated to being calm. It muttered, “Another sorcerer has fallen into the maze of the sea serpent. Haha. I’m a pupae from the Pupae World, a Level-4 World in the Sorcerer Coalition.”

Discreetly, Grimm heaved a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, it was from a world in the Sorcerer Coalition. Although the world nominally accepted the leadership of the Will of the Sorcerer World, a Level-4 world had considerable autonomy and could be regarded as the ruler in the Sorcerer Coalition. They enjoyed the benefit within the coalition with those Level-5 worlds with Eternal Dominators.

From the looks of it, there was no contradiction between their basic background.

Moreover, Grimm noticed some implied information in the pupae’s words.

The maze of the sea serpent? Another sorcerer?

Did the maze inflict the desirable hallucination?

Grimm asked impatiently, “Is it what this world is called? The maze of the sea serpent? Do you mean other than me, there are other sorcerers trapped in this Spectral World?”

The pupae crawled out of the colorful Phagocytic Shell and squatted on the ground like a giant frog. The shell closed with a loud squeak, it slowly rose to the dim sky and floated towards the whirlpool.

The pupae glanced at the whirlpool in the sky before it said flatly, “There’s still a long time before the Eye of Destruction arrives, I’ll take you to the place where all the sorcerers gather, I’m not even sure how many sorcerers there are. As for insisting on being a sorcerer, or becoming a new sea serpent, it’s up to you.”

Suddenly, Grimm had too much information to process as it was all being squeezed into his head the minute he had stumbled upon this strange creature in this unfamiliar Spectral World.

“What is the Eye of Destruction? What will happen when it arrives?” Grimm asked curiously as they were flying.

The pupae pointed at the big whirlpool in the sky with his forefinger. Grimm noticed the webs between his pale green fingers, suggesting that the Pupae World it lived in should be amphibious.

“When the whirlpool of the sea serpent stops swirling, the Eye of Destruction will arrive. When it comes, except for the Mount Serpentine and the creatures trapped in the Phagocytic Shells’ dream state, all the creatures exposed by the Eye of Destruction will die.”

The remake sent a chill up Grimm’s spine. He repeated anxiously, “All creatures?”

“All!” The pupae exclaimed in a stern tone.

Grimm went on, “You said earlier it’s up to me whether I want to be a new sea serpent, what do you mean by that?”

“Do you see those colorful shells? The creatures inside the shell actually know that they are living in a Spectral World, but they refuse to wake up, and they have already given up returning to reality. After all, for most intelligent creatures, the world built in the shells is wonderfully beautiful and amazing.”

Grimm nodded somberly. Yes, it was a wonderful world indeed.

Grimm continued on, “What about the Mount Serpentine?”

The pupae was flying midair, but it made a movement that resembled a frog swimming in water.

“It’s the place we’re going right now. It is the center of the maze of the sea serpent, where all the creatures who don’t want to be a sea serpent gather, it is also the only hope to leave this place.”
