Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Immediately following, Liu Futong shouted, ”Emperor Shun, open your eyes and see who these people are. If you don’t come out, don’t blame me for killing them one by one!”

Liu Futong’s voice was ice-cold, and at this moment, the group of women began to wail.

”Your Majesty, save me~”

Emperor Shun looked through the hole and saw his concubines. He paused for a moment, then said, ”Rebel, you underestimate me. I hold the world; what women would I lack? You use a group of women to scare me? Hahaha, do you really think I’m easily frightened? You wish to kill?”

”If you’re going to kill, do it quickly. If I even say ’no’ once, call me incompetent. Aren’t they just some women? As long as I’m alive, I can have as many as I want.”

”Do you know how many women I have in this pagoda? A hundred. I ask you, if these concubines die, are you willing to become my new concubines?”

Hearing this, the group of women instantly said, ”Willing, Your Majesty!”

At that moment, the group of women didn’t feel that the situation was as dire as it might have seemed; it was an opportunity for them, a chance at rapid advancement!

These women wished Liu Futong would kill more, hoping he would slaughter all the Three Palaces, Six Courts, and Seventy-Two Concubines, elevating them all.

After all, they were mere beauties who couldn’t ascend in the court, although they relied on their looks to get close to the Emperor; they were insignificant within the entire court.

They wanted to ascend, but they were overshadowed by noble concubines and other concubines. So when Liu Futong threatened to kill the concubines and noble concubines, these women went ecstatic. A noble is a strange thing that sometimes appears as an enemy, and clearly, Liu Futong was these women’s noble in their hearts!

If Liu Futong truly unleashed a massacre, these women would undoubtedly feel grateful to this rebel leader; without him, who knows how long it would take them to move up the ranks.

Moreover, once the Emperor’s favor wanes, it might be hard for them to make further progress in life.

Understanding this, the women looked expectantly at Liu Futong outside the house, silently thinking, Good man, kill, kill!

Of course, Liu Futong didn’t know these women’s thoughts, but he saw clearly that the Emperor genuinely didn’t care about his concubines.

At this point, Liu Futong frowned and shouted, ”Bring that old woman here!”

Soon, a group pulled the woman over. The old woman attempted to resist but was kicked to the ground by a soldier.

”Old hag, get your son out here, or your life won’t be spared today.”

The soldier beside her said, and the old woman immediately shouted into the pagoda, ”Emperor, save me!”

The Emperor heard the old woman’s voice and laughed heartily, ”Rebel, this woman’s life and death have nothing to do with me. If you want to kill, then kill quickly; perhaps I’ll even thank you for it!”

Hearing this, Liu Futong frowned and said, ”She is your mother, won’t you even save your own mother?”

The Emperor chuckled, ”My mother? Did you investigate properly? My real mother died twenty years ago.”

Hmm!

Liu Futong looked at the old woman, and the old woman was terrified. Liu Futong stared at her and asked, ”You’re not the Emperor’s mother?”

”I, I am! But, but...”

”But what?”

”I, I am not her biological mother, I am her official mother!”

It turns out Emperor Shun came from humble beginnings. His mother was originally a palace maid cherished by the old Emperor, who later gave birth to him. However, a palace maid’s status was too low to become the Prince’s mother; thus, when Emperor Shun came of age, he acknowledged the old Emperor’s Empress as his mother.

It was the old woman kneeling on the ground.

Liu Futong frowned; these Royal Family matters were genuinely chaotic indeed. With this in mind, Liu Futong heard Emperor Shun say, ”If you want to kill, then kill. Killing her would avenge me; she poisoned my mother. Due to my status, I couldn’t touch her, but if you could kill her for me, I would truly thank you!”

Listening to this, Liu Futong’s brows furrowed; he was indeed in a dilemma now. The Emperor was right there; to retreat now would leave Liu Futong feeling deeply unsatisfied.

But staying and what then? This Emperor was timid and cold-hearted, ignoring matters concerning noble concubines, the Empress Dowager, and everyone else. Sheltering inside this Iron Tower like a turtle and not coming out, no matter the curses shouted his way, was a situation Liu Futong couldn’t find a solution to for the time.

However, at this moment, a subordinate from the Zoroastrian Sect suggested, ”Venerable, the National Fortune can only withstand attacks from martial artists above the Energy Transformation level. Why not let our lower-level soldiers try their luck? They might demolish the Iron Tower.”

Liu Futong’s eyes lit up; this was indeed a clever idea.

”Alright, send people, demolish that Iron Tower for me!”

Liu Futong sent out orders, and his low-level soldiers promptly advanced, rushing towards the Iron Tower armed with various tools, beginning the demolition. As expected, no counterattack from the National Fortune White Dragon occurred.

Such is the way of National Fortune; the stronger the adversary, the fiercer the counterattack. Yet, with martial artists below the Energy Transformation level, the National Fortune dragon remains unresponsive, which is quite understandable.

The National Fortune dragon prevents unknown assassins from killing the monarch, a safeguard of the Heavenly Dao for the monarch, but it doesn’t protect against lower-level martial artists. This is because if low-level martial artists or peasants can bring down the Emperor, it likely signifies the Empire’s National Fortune has been exhausted.
