Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

At this thought, Dharma Ba broke into a cold sweat.

At this moment, someone jumped down from the rooftop and shouted, ”The Imperial Palace is under attack, everyone follow me into the palace to protect the Emperor!”

Upon hearing this, Lu Feng paused and said, ”Hmm, but what about here? We still need to catch the bandits attacking the Prime Minister’s Mansion!”

Hearing this, Dharma Ba glanced at Lu Feng and said, ”Is the Emperor more important, or are those bandits more important?”

With a single sentence, Lu Feng was left speechless on the spot, not daring to retort at all. Even if given a hundred times the courage, he wouldn’t dare say those bandits were more important than the Emperor, so he could only lower his head.

Dharma Ba said, ”You have 15 minutes to assemble the troops, and then instantly head to the Imperial Palace.”

”Yes.”

Lu Feng immediately responded, and he followed by walking out of the room at once, quickly instructing the Deputy General to assemble the army, while he himself proceeded towards the deepest part of the Heavenly Prison, aiming to reach the place where his junior brother Kang Maocai was held.

Originally, he wanted to use Kang Maocai to bait Zhang Dingbian, but now there’s no opportunity. The Heavenly Prison has to be abandoned immediately; once they leave, Zhang Dingbian could enter as if it were unguarded territory. You could say there’s absolutely no defensive power against Zhang Dingbian here.

In that case, rescuing Kang Maocai would be a piece of cake, but Lu Feng couldn’t allow Zhang Dingbian to rescue Kang Maocai so easily.

Since he can’t use this bait for fishing anymore, he might as well destroy the bait to save the trouble of the fish being too keen.

At the same time, it also reduces a hidden danger for himself.

Understanding this, Lu Feng decided to eliminate Kang Maocai ahead of time, not giving Zhang Dingbian the chance to rescue him.

Lu Feng looked at the Liquan Divine Spear in his hand and said, ”Junior Brother Kang, don’t blame your senior brother for being ruthless.”

Saying this, he arrived at the last cell. At this time, the room was pitch black; the firelight from the Heavenly Prison couldn’t reach here. Two prison guards had to come over with torches. Seeing this scene, Lu Feng said, ”Open the door.”

Upon hearing this, the prison guards immediately opened the door. Inside, there was a rack for executions, where a person would be bound in the shape of a cross.

But when Lu Feng entered, he froze completely because the person was gone; Kang Maocai was nowhere to be found.

”Where is he?”

Lu Feng asked harshly, and upon hearing this, the prison guards were dumbstruck. One of them said, ”Half an hour ago, I still saw him tied up here!”

Lu Feng instantly became furious: ”A living person tied up here can go missing? How do you useless bunch keep watch?”

Upon hearing this, the prison guards were about to cry, but they had nothing to refute, merely exchanging glances in silence.

At this time, Lu Feng inspected all around, suddenly noticing some wet soil in the northeast corner. He then ran over, crouching down to touch the wet soil, furrowing his brow before tapping on the ground’s red bricks with his hand, producing a hollow sound. Lu Feng instantly understood and immediately shouted, ”Someone, dig this up.”

Upon hearing this, two prison guards came over at once to pry open the red bricks. The person had escaped, and as the guards on duty that day, they couldn’t escape responsibility; an investigation was inevitable afterward, so at this point, they behaved diligently, possibly saving their own lives.

Once the red bricks were opened, Lu Feng saw a tunnel beneath leading directly outside, which made him livid. ”Zhang Dingbian!”

The sound echoed through the entire prison, filled with anger and an unwillingness born of being played.

But no one responded to his shout. Soon, half an hour passed. Lu Feng, seething with anger, gathered the troops, and at this point, Dharma Ba could no longer contain himself, riding forward on horseback with about two thousand people directly to the Imperial Palace to save the Emperor.

A group of people came rushing out of the Heavenly Prison at this moment.

In the darkness, Zhu Chongba and his group saw this. Chang Yuchun, excitedly, said, ”They came out, they came out, brother, let me go take them down.”

Zhu Chongba replied, ”Don’t make trouble, let them come in further. Xu Da, be ready.”

Xu Da then said, ”Rest assured!”

He was calm, but then a voice came from behind, ”Leave the one with the spear next to Dharma Ba to me. I have a personal feud with him!”

Upon hearing this, Zhu Chongba turned to look at the person behind, who was none other than Zhang Dingbian, sent by Chen Jiusi.

Chang Yuchun was instantly displeased by this: ”Why should it be yours?”

”Ah”

Zhu Chongba raised his hand to stop his reckless fourth brother, then looked at Zhang Dingbian and said, ”Brother, can you handle it alone? I’ll send two brothers to support you.”

Zhang Dingbian shook his head and said, ”No need, thank you.”

Zhu Chongba said, ”That’s not necessary. I, Zhu Chongba, have always respected heroes.”

Zhang Dingbian did not answer, but then Chang Yuchun, watching, said, ”Brother, they’ve entered the formation, they’ve entered.”

At this moment, Dharma Ba looked at the distant Imperial Palace, his mind heavy with thoughts, urging his horse to move forward continuously. Beside him was Lu Feng, his face equally grim. After all, he staged a plan and didn’t catch even one fish in the end; it was truly embarrassing.

With these thoughts, the two stepped into Zhu Chongba’s ambush. Dharma Ba was preoccupied, but as they walked on, he suddenly had a bad premonition.

He looked up, his expression immediately changing. The position he found himself in was quite precarious, flanked by danger, shrouded in an ominous aura.

”Not good!”

Dharma Ba exclaimed, with Lu Feng reacting as well. But at this moment, a soft voice was suddenly heard, followed by countless soldiers wielding bows and arrows emerging from the surrounding walls, straight into the ambush circle.

However, even though they were caught in the ambush, Dharma Ba and Lu Feng were not overly anxious.
