Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 320: Chapter 136 Peng Shizhong: Regret Not Heeding the Words of 94 (The Drama Begins)_5

”Whatever, just be quick about it.”

Chen Jie finished speaking and then addressed the old man, ”Mister, I’ve paid for your meal. Take your time eating; I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave.”

”Hold on!” the old man called out to Chen Jie.

Chen Jie was startled and saw the old man say, ”The Heavenly Mandate’s assassination cannot be obstructed just because you want to.”

”Hmm?”

Chen Jie was puzzled and, observing the old man’s attire, slowly sat back down.

”Thirteen Grand Protectors? Blind fortune-teller?”

The old man then reached out and groped on the table, found his three Copper Coins, and said, ”Care for a reading?”

Chen Jie hesitated for a moment, then took the turtle shell and started to shake it...

He let go, and the coins scattered across the table.

Two with characters, one with a pattern.

The old man felt them and said, ”Characters for yang, patterns for yin; two yang and one yin form a yang line: adversity meets vitality, a thread of life.”

Chen Jie slightly furrowed his brow, ”What do you mean by adversity meets vitality?”

”The thoughts in your heart as you cast the Copper Coins embody the meaning of the trigram.”

Was what I was thinking about today’s Spring Breeze Theater, and does this concern what will happen there?

Adversity meets vitality; does it mean my foster father will escape danger with a thread of life?

I’m not sure how accurate this Blind fortune-teller is.

Chen Jie hesitated and asked, ”Does Mr. have anything else to teach me?”

The Blind man inquired, ”What day is it today?”

”The twentieth of June.”

”Yichou Year, Kui Water Day, avoid entering alleys, yet thrive with water,” said the Blind man.

Hearing these words, Chen Jie frowned—was it suggesting that someone was lying in wait in an alley and advising his foster father not to go? What about this flourishing with water?

Chen Jie was very confused, ”Can Mr. speak more clearly?”

The Blind man shook his head, ”Cannot say, cannot say.”

”Here comes your noodles.”

As their conversation ended, a server brought over a bowl of noodles with pig’s trotters.

The Blind man picked up the chopsticks and tried a bite, ”Salty!”

The staff responded, ”Ah, my apologies, shall I add more soup for you?”

”That’s not necessary.”

The Blind man waved his hand, then seeing Chen Jie’s expression, said, ”I’ll give you another reading.”

Chen Jie took the Copper Coins and turtle shell and shook them.

The result was the same: two with characters, one with a pattern.

The Blind man smiled and said, ”Two yang lines, seeking but not getting. Heavenly Secret as thin as a thread; this trigram speaks to when you desperately search for something without success, it wouldn’t hurt to turn back and look—it may just lie along the path you’ve already crossed, simply overlooked.”

Chen Jie looked puzzled, not quite understanding the meaning.

The Blind man did not elaborate further.

After taking another bite of the pig’s trotters in the bowl, he said, ”Do you know why I gave you three readings?”

Chen Jie was taken aback, ”Two readings? Where does the third come from?”

”The trip here gave you one more.”

”That bump?”

Chen Jie wondering, the Blind man said, ”That was a Heavenly trigram, the most accurate.”

Hearing this, Chen Jie said, ”But I hadn’t even thought of a question for that reading?”

The Blind man said, ”That trigram was for what I questioned.”

”What did Mr. ask?”

The Blind man said, ”The world.”

Chen Jie was bewildered, and the Blind man asked, ”Don’t understand?”

”I don’t.”

The Blind man said, ”The world is in chaos, who will rise and fall is uncertain. A wise ruler must emerge to reshape Heaven and Earth.”

”Uh, Mr., keep your voice down. Are you trying to start a rebellion?”

The Blind man said, ”It’s not rebellion, it’s searching for a savior.”

”Found one?”

The Blind man laughed, ”Yes, and with you, that makes three.”

”Uh? Mr., don’t spout nonsense. What kind of savior could I be?”

Chen Jie was exasperated.

The Blind man said, ”Above Kan, below Dui, characters yang, patterns yin. The first trigram had double yang, Shu cost one cent undecided, yet with the coin facing southwards as it sat to the north, it already bears the image of the Supreme.”

”Uh? Isn’t that just a coincidence?”

Chen Jie was skeptical.

The Blind man said, ”Dayan 49, subtracting one, and that one is coincidence, and also the path sought by all under heaven.”

”This profound mystery, I don’t understand, so please don’t joke with me, Mr.”

The Blind man said, ”I jest not. Now, let me tell you, your trigram indicates that you were meant for a short life, yet somehow, Heaven has spun a thread of life where yours used to end, and it has changed your intellect. If done by an evil spirit, it would be known as seizing the body, but it seems your case has traces of the grand path, which I cannot see through...”

Chen Jie felt a chill run down his spine as he listened.

This sounded like nonsense, but he understood; a short-lived fate, is that the ne’er-do-well Chen Jiusi? Had I not crossed over, he would have been poisoned to death.

As for this ’seizing the body,’ could it be referring to crossing over?

This Blind man might truly know something.

Surely this is just made up.

Chen Jie thought this to himself while the Blind man continued, ”Your Destiny: the Greedy Wolf star enters Life Palace, heralding warfare, endless killing. Logically, you should have had the life path of a Prince, yet in the end, an untimely demise was predicted.”

”However, this thread of life, falling from the heavens, has disrupted the Greedy Wolf, bringing about an unforeseen twist to your fate. Whether good or bad is uncertain; such ambiguity befits the chaotic numbers.”

Chen Jie was still in a fog.

Then the Blind man asked, ”By the way, what’s your name?”

”Chen Jiusi!”

The Blind man said, ”Just shy of Jiu Wu, you must fight for it.”

”You’re saying I can become Master Jiu Wu?”

The Blind man said, ”Heh... if you fight for it, you could.”

”Old Mr., stop teasing me. Don’t spread such talk, the court might execute me for it.”

The Blind man shook his head and said, ”Is that your full name?”

Chen Jie replied, ”I’ve given myself the single name, Jie!”

”Jie?”

The Blind man frowned and, clutching the Copper Coins, he squeezed and released them once, then twice.

Muttering to himself in a voice only he could hear, ”Curious, the trigram suggests this person should have a full name of three characters, corresponding with the grand principles of heaven and earth. These two characters should be Youliang, huh, Chen Jie, Jie... to solve, to forgive, Chen Jie, Chen Youliang...”

”Could this be the escaping ’one’?”

”Mr., what are you saying?”

Chen Jie watched the Blind man, who then said, ”Oh, nothing, that’s it for today. I’ll be going, but we shall meet again.”
