Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 318: Chapter 136 Peng Shizhong: Regret Not Heeding the Advice of 94 (The Drama Begins)_3

Seeing the bowl of noodles, Chen Jie and Peng Shizhong dug in immediately.

Miss Huadie stared at the noodles, struggling to take a bite, knowing well that cilantro was a love or hate affair.

The big bowl full of cilantro noodles nearly made Miss Huadie retch.

As Chen Jie took a few bites, he asked, ”Hey, Miss Huadie, why aren’t you eating? Don’t like it?”

Peng Shizhong also looked over and said, ”If it doesn’t suit your taste, just don’t eat it.”

Miss Huadie forced a smile upon hearing this; according to the script she received, she was supposed to love cilantro because Peng Shizhong’s junior sister was crazy about it.

To replicate the junior sister accurately, she had no choice but to eat despite her reluctance.

”It’s fine, it’s fine, how could it not suit my taste?”

”Slurp, slurp~”

Miss Huadie ate the noodles with a smile, and Chen Jie said, ”Don’t just eat the noodles, eat more cilantro, we lovers of cilantro always start with it.”

Miss Huadie eyed Chen Jie, wanting to swallow him whole, yet she gritted her teeth, stuffed a big mouthful of cilantro into her mouth, chewed twice, barely breaking it down before she forcibly swallowed it.

Seeing this, Chen Jie thought to himself, you’re really harsh to yourself.

At that moment, Miss Huadie said, ”Mr. Peng, I have another matter today.”

”Oh, what’s the matter?”

”It’s like this, the theater owner called for Qing Que from Lin City today to challenge me. I came to ask Mr. Peng to support me, but hearing that you are injured, I think it’s better you don’t go and just rest at home. Let’s talk about other things after your recovery.”

Miss Huadie said with concern.

Peng Shizhong replied, ”A challenge match, then I must go, how can I let you lose to someone else?”

”Mr. Peng, I know you care for me, but you’re injured, and I don’t want you to suffer because of me.”

”But if I don’t go, you’ll be heartbroken if you lose!”

”That’s alright, our disputes amongst actors are trivial, losing is not a big deal, I’ll just cry a bit and--it’s nothing.”

Miss Huadie spoke pitifully.

”That won’t do, you are Peng Shizhong’s people, how can you lose to some Qing Niao from Lin City.”

”Qing Que.”

”Never mind what bird it is, rest assured, I’ll be there tonight, to cheer you on!”

”Godfather!”

Chen Jie, overhearing this conversation, hurriedly intervened, ”Godfather, Miss Huadie is right, with you being injured, you better not go. I can support Miss Huadie on your behalf and ensure her victory.”

”That won’t do, how would that be appropriate if you go?”

Peng Shizhong glared at Chen Jie.

Your father supporting a lady and then you too, aren’t we messing up the hierarchy? Besides, is Miss Huadie just any girl? She’s the incarnation of the junior sister. Although you are my beloved son, you must not touch her!

Realizing this, Chen Jie also got startled, it seems Miss Huadie holds a significant place in Old Peng’s heart!

Old Peng won’t think I’m trying to hit on my step-mom, would he?

Understanding these points, Chen Jie knew arguing today would be useless.

Moreover, in this situation, the more he argued, the more mistakes he would make. If Peng Shizhong really misunderstood him as trying to flirt with his step-mom, it would be over.

Having thought it through, he decided not to say much and just ate the cilantro noodles.

He didn’t press Miss Huadie to eat anymore because it was pointless; things were already settled.

After a while, Miss Huadie said, ”Mr. Peng, it’s about time, I need to go back and prepare, I still have a performance this evening.”

”Ah, alright, I’ll see you off.”

”Sir, please, don’t bother.”

Miss Huadie stopped Peng Shizhong from accompanying her, left with Peng Fu, got into the carriage, and quickly grabbed a spittoon beside her.

”Gag~”

She started gagging.

Hearing the gagging from inside, the coachman asked, ”How is it?”

”Go back and tell your master, it’s settled, tonight Peng Shizhong will definitely come.”

”That’s great, you’ve worked hard.”

”Giddyup, giddyup...”

Saying that, the carriage slowly moved away.

Meanwhile, back in the courtyard, Chen Jie looked at Peng Shizhong and said, ”Godfather...”

”Jiu Si, you saw it, I’ve already promised, if I don’t go, wouldn’t it be embarrassing? So don’t try to persuade me.”

”But rest assured, there’s nothing to worry about. Although I’m injured, with my Energy Transformation skills, no injury can hurt me. And with people like Nan Batian respecting Darugachi, they wouldn’t dare make a direct move, so there will be no trouble.”

”You just take care of White Tiger Hall, godfather is old now, and the White Tiger Hall will be yours in the future.”

After finishing, Peng Shizhong said, ”Alright, you get on with your things, don’t worry about me.”

Peng Shizhong issued a dismissal, and Chen Jie looked at him helplessly but after thinking, decided to risk offending Peng Shizhong by saying, ”Godfather, you need to be careful of Miss Huadie.”

Peng Shizhong looked at him and asked, ”What do you mean?”

”Did you find something?”

What could Chen Jie find, if Miss Huadie’s identity was perfectly crafted without flaws? Surely Peng Shizhong had checked as well.

”Nothing specific, but I saw her eating the cilantro noodles. Although she acted like she liked them, her eyes hesitated, and her actions were dubious, I think she lied to you, she’s deceiving you!”

”Hahaha... I know, she doesn’t like cilantro.”

Hmm?

Chen Jie looked at Peng Shizhong.

Peng Shizhong continued, ”But for me, she forced herself to eat cilantro. Jiu Si, what else can a godfather say about such a girl?”

F***

Chen Jie was exasperated, was he brainwashing himself?

”Godfather, if she can deceive you once, she can do it again. If she can lie about this, she can lie about other things too!”

Chen Jie tried to persuade Peng Shizhong.

Peng Shizhong shook his head, ”No, she’s not that kind of person.”

”Godfather!”

”No need for more words, just take care of White Tiger Hall.”
