Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 995: Zhao Ziyan (Ko-Fi Bonus 5/6)

The shops in the outer city market, especially the ones that sold cultivation related things or provided services never closed until the mid-night.

The same was true for Gu Family’s Spirit Weapon Repairing Shop.

Today, however, the shopkeeper of this shop—the First Lady of Gu family, Zhao Ziyan—was moving about with the only worker of the shop, who was also a member of the Gu family, preparing to close for the day.

Some passers-by looked puzzled, especially when they saw the happy look on Zhao Ziyan’s face as they were used to seeing her always wearing a worried expression.

“What’s going on, why does Madam Gu look so happy today?” Someone quested, unable to hold back his curiosity.

Several other men also looked around in confusion, also wanting to know the reason.

Right then, a woman passing by heard the man and laughed, “It’s because Madam Gu’s youngest son has recovered. Not only that, he has also reached the Muscle Refinement realm.”

“Are you talking about the kid who had caught some strange illness and was about to die just a few days before?” someone asked, surprised.

“Yes, it’s that one.” The woman nodded before continuing on her way. The passers-by who hadn’t heard the news let out exclamations of surprise while some’s eyes flashed with different thoughts.

Inside the shop, Zhao Ziyan’s expression fell when she heard the voices outside and watched the woman, who had seemingly innocently informed everyone of the reason she was happy, walk away.

“Aunty, no need to mind them. The news has already spread and they were going to find out anyway.” The Gu Family member, a studious looking young man, spoke up.

“Hmm, I know, Cheng’er.” Zhao Ziyan grunted, “But she clearly had nefarious intentions.”

Gu Wencheng sighed ruefully, “It’s all because we are without the support of a Bone Refinement powerhouse that people don’t take our family seriously and even some random person doesn’t consider the repercussions before commenting. Only if Elder Brother Rong hadn’t been injured…”

Zhao Ziyan’s expression fell further and the joy she was feeling earlier diminished significantly.

Gu Wencheng saw this and hurriedly said, “But some good has finally happened to our family—Third Brother has recovered from his mortal illness. Maybe this is a sign that our family’s luck has improved for the better.”

Ha!

Zhao Ziyan exhaled deeply and smiled at Gu Wencheng, “You are becoming more and more sensible, Cheng’er.”

“It’s all because of your guidance, Aunty.” Gu Wencheng humbly bowed.

“Enough with that. I already told you you don’t need to bow to me unless we are in a formal setting.” Zhao Ziyan said in exasperation.

Gu Wencheng shook his head, “You are not only my respected elder but also my unofficial teacher, so it’s only right that I show you proper respect aunty.”

Zhao Ziyan shook her head helplessly.

The more she interacted with him, and the more she felt he was a very good young man, the more she felt disappointed and regretted the fact that his cultivation talent wasn’t good enough. Otherwise he would have been a good candidate for them to invent their resources in and hopefully raise him into a Bone Refinement realm cultivator.

“Let’s hurry up and close the shop.” She said turning around and locking a container that had a customer’s repaired Spirit Weapon.

Gu Wencheng’s calm and respectful shattered the moment she turned around.

‘Even after all this, you don’t want to nurture me…’ He growled inwardly, his eyes turning cold, ‘Don’t blame me for being ruthless then.’

Zhao Ziyan was blissfully unaware of his mental shift and continued locking the repaired Spirit Weapons in their separate boxes.

“Haha, Aunty, I see that you can’t wait to reach home and see the Third Brother.” Gu Wencheng suddenly laughed and said, “How about this, I’ll close the shop today and you go home and see him.”

Zhao Ziyan hesitated briefly but then she nodded, “Thank you, Cheng’er. You are a big help.”

“No need for thanks aunty. As a member of the Gu Family, it’s my duty to help out as much as I can.” Gu Wencheng said.

Zhao Ziyan nodded, then she left the shop, not knowing she had made a mistake that would cause significant harm to the family.

…

Zhao Ziyan arrived at the family’s estate after half an hour and immediately headed towards Gu Chen’s room. But she found it empty.

Right then, Gu Yinyin came over and seeing her mother walking out of Gu Chen’s room with her brows furrowed, smiled teasingly, “Hehe, mother, you shouldn’t have come so early.”

“Why? And where’s Chen’er, Yinyin? Is it really true that he has recovered?” She asked despite hearing this from several sources that wouldn’t deceive her.

“Yes, it’s true.” Gu Yinyin nodded. She then walked over and hugged her hand, “Third Brother has gone out and has yet to return. Now that you have come so early, you’ll have to wait for him.”

“He went out? Why did you let him? He has just recovered and should be very weak. What if he runs into some trouble—” Zhao Ziyan immediately scolded her.

“I didn’t know he was leaving, otherwise I would have tried. Moreover, I believe he can take care of himself.” Gu Yinyin interrupted her.

Zhao Ziyan paused, then she asked, “Has he truly reached Muscle Refinement?”

Gu Yinyin’s expression fell, “He has.”

Zhao Ziyan frowned at her expression, “What’s wrong?”

“Hmph! Third brother didn’t tell me about his cultivation but he told Lan’er. Let him come, I’ll definitely give him an earful.” Gu Yinyin gritted her teeth, feeling betrayed.

“Where’s Lan’er?” Zhao Ziyan asked.

“Cultivating in her room.” answered Gu Yinyin.

“Let’s go. I want to hear it from her.” Zhao Ziyan said as she walked away. Gu Yinyin grumbled under her breath but she understood what her mother was feeling, so she didn’t mind it much.

Soon they arrived in front of Gu Lan’er room and knocked on the door.

“Who is it?” Gu Lan’s voice echoed out.

“It’s me, Lan’er.” Zhao Ziyan answered.

“Me too.” Gu Yinyin chimed in. Seeing her daughter in a good mood after such a long time, Zhao Ziyan felt better.

A moment later, Gu Lan opened the door.

“Hm?” Zhao Ziyan had opened her mouth to speak when she suddenly noticed something and her brows furrowed.

Then her expression became frighteningly dark. Gu Lan was first confused then she thought of something and her face paled.

“Who did you do it with?” Zhao Ziyan growled.
