Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 993: Out of Control Emotions and Mismatched Profiles (Ko-Fi Bonus 3/6)

“Yes, I can do that.” Max nodded after a moment. This would indeed be the best way to prevent unnecessary trouble.

“Mm.” Nie Xiaolu nodded, then lowered her head.

Seeing this, Max asked, “What is it, Xiaolu?”

Nie Xiaolu shook her head and sighed, “I know what you did was to save my mother and I don’t feel strange because of that. But…”

She looked at him, “What if you and mother fell in love with each other?”

“Then nothing.” Max said before reaching out, grabbing her arm and pulling her over and making her sit on his lap sideways.

Nie Xiaolu didn’t resist or lost her composure and just looked at him with a hint of shyness in her eyes.

Max stared into her eyes and seriously added, “You will still be my wife and I’ll treat you all the same.”

“Mm.” Nie Xiaolu hummed softly after staring at him in silence for a few seconds. She then lowered her head and after hesitating for a bit, she rested it against his chest.

Max could tell she was feeling a little vulnerable, thus he wrapped his arms around her, and embraced her tightly, breathing in the fragrance of her hair. At the same time, he released some of his charm.

Nie Xiaolu found her restless mind relaxing and the tension in her body due to the years of constant worry easing.

‘He is so warm.’ She thought and leaned deeper against his chest, taking slow and deep breaths.

She also noticed the strange fishy fragrance on and since she wasn’t a clueless child, she instantly knew what it was. A moment later, she stopped thinking about it and focused on enjoying the comfort she was feeling.

‘Maybe this is why people marry. They can let go of everything when in their partner’s embrace.’ She thought.

Max also enjoyed the embrace, feeling both coldness and warmth emanating from her. Slowly, his bloodline began heating and he felt the urge to take her.

Seeing she didn’t mind such an intimate embrace, he decided to not wait until their marriage was finalized but when he pulled back slightly to kiss her, he saw her eyes were closed and she was softly breathing—she had fallen asleep.

“…”

He was stunned for a moment, then pity and protectiveness surged in his heart.

Just how tense she must have been to relax so much that she instantly fell asleep upon receiving just a bit of warmth?

‘I won’t let you suffer anymore.’ He thought, tightening his hold around her.

But a moment later, he pursed his lips and a hint of helplessness appeared in his eyes.

He would have to leave after one year. Given he couldn’t even enter this place with his physical body, it was obvious he couldn’t take anyone with him when he left. And the thought of leaving his women here didn’t sit well with him.

‘Maybe this is why the system hasn’t given me the option to add them in my harem.’ He thought, summoning the status screen and looking at the harem section.

[Harem: 0]

The thought of conversing with the system about this matter appeared in his mind, but he put it off for the time being, not wanting to wake Xiaolu up by speaking.

Thus, he sat there on the ground with Nie Xiaolu in his embrace. When he felt she had entered deep sleep, he slowly stood up and took her to her room where he gently placed on the bed and covered her with a blanket.

Just as he was about to leave…

Pak!

Nie Xiaolu suddenly grabbed his wrist.

He looked down and saw she had opened her eyes and there were tears in them.

Before he could ask what was wrong, she softly said, “Don’t… leave me alone.”

Hearing her pleading words said with such extreme vulnerability, Max felt a metaphysical current rush up his spine that made his heart quiver and tender, protective emotions surged up in his heart uncontrollably.

Max knew something was wrong or he wouldn’t react so intensely towards her, but he didn’t delve deeper into it. Instead, he lay on the bed beside her, wrapped his hand around her and gently said, his voice coming out determined, “I won’t. I promise.”

Nie Xiaolu’s expression eased up and her eyes closed as she once again fell into deep sleep.

Slowly Max overcame the sudden rush of emotions and stared at Xiaolu’s sleeping face, ‘Just what was that?’

Suddenly he thought back to the moment she had asked him to marry her.

When Rima had touched this topic briefly when they were enjoying the tender, affectionate moments of their post-climax one day, he had tried to circumvent the topic and even though he had promised he would marry her, he felt uneasy about it.

But when she asked, despite knowing he wouldn’t be able to stay by her side for longer than one year, he had agreed without much hesitation and he hadn’t felt the same uneasy feeling.

“System… What’s going on? Why can she impact my mental state so much? Does she possess some kind of Innate Charm Physique or something else?” Max asked the system in a low voice.

For the first time, he saw the system hesitate instead of giving him a clear answer.

[…I’m not sure, Host.]

Max brows shot up, then he asked, “You can surely tell this once I have done it with her, right?”

[Yes, host. You would have established a connection with her then. So it would be easy for me to scan her.] answered the system.

“Mm.” nodded Max before asking, “I have done it with my second sister-in-law, Lan’er and now my mother-in-law… but why haven’t I received the prompt to add them in my harem?”

[The real reason will be too complex for you to understand, Host. So let me put it this way… It’s because your profiles as Gu Chen and Maxwell Garfield are too mismatched. You have yet to make Gu Chen’s body completely yours, and your overall strength as Gu Chen is way weaker than your original self.] answered the system.

“…”
