Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 981: Stopped at the Gate

Seeing Max becoming angry, Mihi and his companions’ faces fell.

When Max had attacked them and pushed them back so easily, they had already realized he was a Muscle Refinement realm cultivator. Even if they worked together and used their trump cards, they still might not be able to handle him.

Still, they weren’t willing to give up just like that. So, Mihi stared at Max deeply and said, “Fellow daoist, it seems you don’t know we are from—”

“I know. I heard you earlier.” Max interrupted him.

“Since that’s the case, I hope you can deal with the repercussions.” Mihi said after a moment.

Max narrowed his eyes, “Do you believe I’ll kill you if you don’t disappear from my sight before I finish counting to three?”

Saying this, he immediately began counting, “One.”

“Just you wait.” Mihi left this warning, then turned on his heels and fled the alley with his companions.

…

After they left, Max turned around and faced Nie Haolong who looked at him worriedly and said, “Chen… maybe it wasn’t a good idea to offend them like this. Perhaps you have not heard the rumors that Patriarch Mi has reached Bone Refinement, Seventh Layer.”

“I have.” Max nodded. He had indeed heard this in passing but was he going to let his friend be bullied just because he was afraid of inviting trouble? Obviously not.

Seeing Max didn’t seem to care much, Nie Haolong dropped the matter and carved out this incident in his heart. If the opportunity were to present itself and he was able to, no matter the cost, he would definitely help him too.

“When did you recover, Chen? I visited your family just two days ago but they told me you… still weren’t well.” He asked, changing the topic.

“Just this morning, my illness vanished and I regained consciousness—”

Rumble!

Just as Max told him this, his stomach grumbled and he suddenly felt a wave of weakness wash over him.

“How about we go somewhere and eat while we talk?” suggested Max. Save for soup Li Xiaomin fed him and the single fish he ate at the shop, he hadn’t eaten anything and just they weren’t enough to sate his hunger or give him enough energy to recover from his weakened state.

Nie Haolong looked Max up and down and his eyes lit up. He then grabbed his hand and began walking with big steps, “Come with me. I have something perfect for you.”

Max smiled wryly, “Alright man, I can walk on my own. No need to hold my hand.”

Nie Haolong released his hand and they walked out of the alley side by side while talking about random things.

Half an hour later, they arrived at Nie Family Estate.

Immediately, something happened that made Max frown.

The guards sneered when they saw Nie Haolong and stopped them, “Where are you coming from?”

Nie Haolong glanced at Max, then with gritted teeth, he glared at them coldly, “You are guards, behave like them and move aside.”

“Heh, now some trash will teach us how to do our job.” One of the two guards chuckled darkly, then snapped, “Tell us this instant what you were up to or don’t blame us for forcing it out of you.”

Nie Haolong’s face burned in shame. This was nothing out of normal and he would’ve endured it like always if Gu Chen wasn’t with him. How would he have face to face him if he took this humiliation lying down even now?

Thus, for the first time in years, he lost control and all of a sudden punched the guard in the face.

Bang!

Crack.

His fist connected to the guard’s nose and a soft cracking sound echoed—his nose broke.

“Ahhhhh! You hit me!” He let out a shrill scream in pain and disbelief. Then rage filled him and lunged at him, aiming a punch at Nie Haolong’s neck—in his rage, he wasn’t thinking straight and aimed to kill.

Having not expected Nie Haolong to suddenly attack, the other guard was also caught off guard. Then he also became angry… How could this trash dare to attack them?

But before he could act, he saw his companion’s actions and blood drained from his face. No matter how despised Nie Haolong was, he was still a Nie. If he was killed here, no matter who was responsible, both of them would be put to death.

Thus he rushed to stop him and save Nie Haolong but someone else was faster than him.

Bang!

Crack!

A fist met the guard’s and a crisp sound of bones breaking echoed.

The fresh pain sobered the guard up and he hurriedly retreated before looking at the man standing beside Nie Haolong, a feeling of dread surging into his heart.

The other guard also stared at Max as he casually withdrew his outstretched hand and looked at them, “Who asked you to do this?”

“It…” The injured guard instinctively opened his mouth but then he caught himself and sealed his lips while glaring at him with a mixture of fear and resentment in his eyes.

Max glanced at Nie Haolong with a look that said ‘What do you want to do now?’.

Nie Haolong forced a bitter smile and shook his head. He then walked past the guards who didn’t dare stop him this time. Max followed him silently as it wasn’t his place to take matters into his hands.

Not long after they entered the estate, a young man in neat green robes came out with a servant following behind him.

The guard duo felt a wave of unease when they saw him, especially the displeased look on his face but they still stepped forward and bowed, “Young Master Haoshuo.”

“You let him enter?” Nie Haoshuo asked, his voice cold.

“We had no choice, young master, because—” The guards attempted to explain but Nie Haoshuo waved his hand and asked, “You interrogated him at least, right? What was the result?”

The duo hung their heads low, then the injured guard spoke, “We couldn’t do it, young master Haoshuo. The guy with him stopped us and he even injured me.”
