Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 964: You No Longer Recognise Your Third Brother

From Gu Chen’s memories, he knew each of the five mortal stages had nine layers. So, he continued and clicked on the plus symbol again.

[Do you want to use 200 Lust Points to increase your cultivation to Skin Refinement, Second Layer? (Yes)/(No)]

‘Hm? The cost doubles?’ he raised his brows and glanced at his total lust points. If this was the case, he wouldn’t be able to attain even the Eighth Layer, Skin Tempering.

Fortunately, it wasn’t doubling but increasing according to the fibonacci sequence.

An hour later, his cultivation had risen to the Ninth Layer of Skin Refinement Realm and 14,200 Lust Points had been used up.

“Nice.” He smiled in satisfaction and clenched his fist. He couldn’t tell just exactly how much, but he was a lot stronger than he was an hour earlier.

He looked at the cultivation section and saw the plus symbol was still there, meaning he could still increase his cultivation.

So, he didn’t hesitate to click on it.

[Do you want to use 1000 Lust Points to increase your cultivation to Muscle Refinement, First Layer? (Yes)/(No)]

‘Hmm? I don’t need to breakthrough?’ he thought seeing the notification.

As if the system could tell what he was thinking, a smaller screen appeared before him, [Host, in the first five mortal realms, there is no bottleneck unless a cultivator has some congenital condition that stops them from proceeding to the next phase of cultivation of this world.]

“I see.” Max nodded in understanding, then thought, ‘So the Muscle Refinement takes 10 times more energy.’

A moment later, he tapped ‘Yes’.

Immediately…

“Argh!” He let out a pained grunt because unlike before, what he was feeling wasn’t a mere prickling sensation, but a stabbing pain in his muscles. It was as if someone was poking needles all over his body.

Fortunately, it lasted for just a few seconds, so he didn’t suffer much. However, the realization that its intensity would increase a fold or two every time he increased his cultivation made him gulp.

‘It seems this pain won’t ever leave me alone.’ He thought bitterly, recalling the times he had to endure excruciating pain ever since he arrived in the magic world and began cultivating.

After resting for a few minutes to recover, he again clicked (+).

[Do you want to use 2000 Lust Points to increase your cultivation to Muscle Refinement, Second Layer? (Yes)/(No)]

He clicked yes and several seconds later, his forehead was covered in perspiration and he was heaving deep breaths. His gaze, however, was calm. This was only to be expected since his mental threshold of pain tolerance was hundreds of times higher than his current body.

“Continue.” He had enough Lust Points to increase his cultivation by one layer, so clicked (+). Since he was going to increase it anyway, he decided to do it sooner rather than later.

[Do you want to use 3000 Lust Points to increase your cultivation to Muscle Refinement, Third Layer? (Yes)/(No)]

Half a minute later, he was drenched in sweat, his breathing ragged as if he had run a marathon.

[Name: Gu Chen (Maxwell Garfield)]

[Age: 19]

[Cultivation: Muscle Refinement, 3rd Layer]

[Bloodline: Lust Overlord Bloodline (Second Lock Opened)]

[Skills: Basic Martial Arts]

[Harem:0]

[Lust Points: 2950]

The plus symbol had vanished as he didn’t have enough Lust Points remaining to increase his cultivation.

Phew!

‘Finally done.’ he exhaled deeply and plopped back on the bed.

Rumble!

Just when he wanted to close his eyes to rest, his stomach rumbled and pangs of hunger hit him.

Thus, he rested until his breathing stabilized and the lingering pain in his muscles completely vanished. Then he left the bed and entered the washroom where he took a bath and wore a clean set of robes before walking out of the room.

…

The moment he stepped out of the room, rays of sunlight fell on his face. He stopped there and raised his face towards the sun, letting the sunlight fall on him properly and felt the warmth of his face. After staying cooped up in a room, it felt great to be outside.

Ha!

He then took a deep breath of fresh air.

With his mood better than ever, he strolled out of the courtyard while admiring the seven types of beautiful flowers which Gu Ruolan, his step-mother, the only concubine of his late father, had planted.

Her original name was Su Ruolan, but when she married to his father, she changed it to Gu, showing her desire to completely accept him and the Gu Family.

She was a good woman of impressionable personality and everyone, including Gu Chen liked her. When Gu Chen fell ill and the doctors told them he most likely wouldn’t be able to live for long, she had planted these flowers, hoping he would see them every time he came out of his room and would feel better.

Unfortunately, just two months later, he became completely bed-ridden and had never been able to see them since.

Just as he walked out of the courtyard and arrived at the common area of the main family…

Clank!

Something clattered to the ground.

Glancing over, he saw a beautiful, black-haired young woman with facial features slightly similar to his, staring at him with her eyes opened wide in disbelief.

Seeing her, a soft smile appeared on his lips.

“Hello, Third Sister.” he greeted her while walking over.

She was his sister, Gu Yinyin, and was a year older than him.

In the Gu Family, or this entire region for that matter, if someone had multiple children, for example, four—-two males and two females—-the males would address the oldest of the two sisters as First Sister and the younger one as Second Sister. And the sisters would do the same.

This was why, even though Gu Chen was born at sixth place out of seven, because he was the third son, his siblings called him Third Brother. Similarly, while Gu Yinyin was the fifth child, she was the third daughter, so she was called Third Sister.

Gu Yinyin didn’t respond and just continued staring at him which made Max chuckle.

Arriving before her, he squatted down and picked up the bucket full of rice she had dropped. Fortunately, it was sealed with a cloth or the rice would have scattered.

He then stood up, effortlessly holding the bucket in his hand. Looking at her, he wore a hurt expression and asked, “What, just because I have lost some weight, you no longer recognise your Third Brother?”

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
