A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: The Day After Tomorrow, I’m Joining the Crew

After all, Jiang Jingheng had put in a lot of effort, so Mu Yan ate a few more bites.

When she got up to clear the table, Jiang Jingheng stopped her.

”I’ll do it.”

Mu Yan smiled at him, ”You cooked the meal, how can I let you clean up too? You go rest.”

Without waiting for him to speak, she picked up the plates and walked to the kitchen.

Jiang Jingheng watched her back, a softness appearing on his handsome face.

She surely doesn’t know how beautiful her smile is.

They seemed like the closest of couples now, living an ordinary yet warm and harmonious life.

Sooner or later, he would make all of this real.

When Mu Yan came out of the kitchen, she didn’t see Jiang Jingheng; she carried the remaining dishes back into the kitchen.

When she finished cleaning the kitchen and turned off the lights, she saw Jiang Jingheng sitting on the living room sofa reading a newspaper.

But he had already changed into a bathrobe, clearly having taken a shower.

Seeing his hair still dripping with water, she slightly frowned, ”Don’t you blow-dry your hair after washing it? You’ll catch a cold easily that way.”

Jiang Jingheng looked up at her, a smile on his lips, ”Is Mrs. Jiang worried about me?”

Mu Yan was a bit speechless; she would have said the same to anyone else.

The way he said it with that ambiguous tone made it seem like they had some kind of intimate relationship.

Her face fell, and she spoke directly, ”Is it wrong to care about you?”

Jiang Jingheng was taken aback for a moment, the smile in his charming eyes deepening, ”No, it just feels a bit overwhelming.”

Mu Yan thought his mouth sometimes deserved a smack, but he didn’t seem like a bad person.

She hesitated and then said, ”Jiang Jingheng, although some unpleasant things happened before, you did help me a lot afterward. I’m truly grateful. Since we’ll be living together for two more years, we can try being friends, it would be good for both of us.”

With a friendship, he probably won’t tease her so easily.

Jiang Jingheng’s light brown eyes fixed on the girl in front of him; it seemed this was her well-considered decision.

She was turning passive into active, wanting their interaction to be more natural.

The term ”friends” seemed to bring them closer, yet it also set up an unbridgeable chasm between them.

”What if I don’t want to?” Jiang Jingheng asked.

Mu Yan looked at him with some surprise; did he think she wasn’t worthy of being his friend?

Well, he was Young Master Jiang of Upper City, not just anyone could reach up to him.

She smiled wryly, ”It’s fine, as long as Young Master Jiang is happy.”

Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow, ”Are you angry?”

”No,” Mu Yan shook her head.

How much of a big deal is this anyway? Why should she be angry?

What if she has one less friend? The Earth won’t stop spinning!

Jiang Jingheng’s charming eyes raised at the corners, speaking with a hint of laughter, ”Look at yourself in the mirror, your lips can almost hang a kettle.”

”Only your lips can hang a kettle!” Mu Yan glared at him.

Really angry? Jiang Jingheng chuckled, ”I was just joking. Let’s start as friends then.”

After all, there’s plenty of time.

Mu Yan gave him a strange look; starting as friends, what did he mean?

She felt a bit sticky and said, ”I’m going to take a shower.”

She picked up her bag from the sofa and went upstairs.

Jiang Jingheng watched her back, feeling unexpectedly happy.

Friends are the first step; he had a feeling that as long as they spent enough time together, their distance would gradually close.

Suddenly, Mu Yan stopped and looked back at Jiang Jingheng, ”The day after tomorrow I’m joining a crew and won’t be back for a while.”

Jiang Jingheng’s handsome face instantly cooled down, feeling like a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, chilling him from head to toe.
