A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Qin Xi

The sky was gradually darkening, and the lights in the roadside shops were also gradually lighting up.

The taxi stopped by the cafe on the street, Mu Yan paid the fare, got out, and headed straight inside the coffee shop.

She glanced around and walked directly towards the table in the far corner.

Sitting at the table was a young woman wearing a baseball cap and oversized sunglasses, waving at her.

Mu Yan walked over, sat opposite her, and smiled: ”Qin Xi, sorry to keep you waiting.”

The young woman took off her sunglasses, revealing a delicate and fair face. The tear mole under the corner of her eye gave her a charming look. She was the popular Chinese pop diva, Qin Xi.

”It’s not often I get to see you, I would wait however long it takes.” Qin Xi chuckled, seeing Mu Yan taking her words seriously, she added, ”Just kidding, I haven’t been here long either.”

Mu Yan nodded, ”I’m very sorry, you’re so busy, yet I made you come out.”

”What’s with the formalities between us?”

Qin Xi gave her a teasing glance and curiously asked, ”But I’m really curious, which deity brainwashed you, making you leave that witch Zhou Lifen; I thought you’d be with her for life.”

Mu Yan’s eyes flickered, and she replied, ”I just suddenly realized she’s not who I thought she was.”

Some things, even to Qin Xi, she didn’t dare to mention.

Although she hadn’t known Qin Xi for even two years, she considered her the best friend.

She didn’t want her good friend to worry about her.

”It’s good you finally realized.” Qin Xi said irritably, ”Don’t look at me in the music industry, but I’ve heard a lot about her acting like a diva and mistreating assistants and stand-ins, but you wouldn’t listen to me.”

Mu Yan looked gloomy, at that time Zhou Lifen was the benefactor who saved her brother, she couldn’t doubt her.

Qin Xi noticed Mu Yan’s despondency, ”Okay, I didn’t mean to lecture you.”

She paused, ”Actually, it’s not too late for you to leave her now. There’s a dinner with Director Zeng and others tonight, I’ll take you there.”

”Is it convenient?” Mu Yan was a bit hesitant.

”Why not, can’t I bring a family member?” Qin Xi chuckled, ”Don’t worry, it’s just a private gathering. I’m very familiar with the director and the others.”

Mu Yan nodded, ”Okay.”

At 9 PM, outside the clubhouse, people dressed elegantly were coming and going.

Mu Yan followed Qin Xi inside, the classical decor coupled with dim lighting gave an oppressive feeling.

Although her face was calm, she was a bit nervous inside, after all, it was her first ”interview”.

At the door of the private room, Qin Xi looked at Mu Yan and said, ”Don’t be nervous later, I’m here.”

”Hmm!”

Qin Xi pushed open the door, unlike the quiet hallway, it was bustling inside, with a group of people toasting each other.

”Queen Qin, you finally came, we’ve been waiting for you for ages.” A young man laughed.

”Exactly, you have to punish yourself with a few drinks later.”

”Wow, seems like Queen Qin brought a beauty along.”

Everyone stopped drinking, their eyes fell on Qin Xi and Mu Yan.

Mu Yan disliked their meaningful glances but was not afraid.

Qin Xi smiled and said, ”This is my good friend Mu Yan, an actress. I brought her over today to meet everyone, hoping to see if there’s a chance to collaborate.”

Everyone’s eyes once again focused on Mu Yan, she stepped forward and greeted everyone, ”Hello, I’m Mu Yan, it’s a pleasure to meet you all.”

Everyone said in succession, ”Hello, hello!”

A young handsome man smiled and said, ”Since Queen Qin said it herself, we definitely have to give face.”

As he spoke, his gaze swept towards Mu Yan, with the novelty of a predator sizing up its prey.

”Since we’re all here, let’s drink.” Someone pulled Qin Xi to the sofa and started to make her drink as a penalty.

Qin Xi was swift, raising her glass and drinking it all in one go.

”Great alcohol tolerance!” Everyone cheered, ”More!”

The room became extremely lively, Mu Yan saw Qin Xi drinking quickly, afraid she would get drunk, so she prepared to go over and take care of her, but someone stopped her.

”Miss Mu, it’s a pleasure to meet you, may I have the honor of sharing a drink with you?”
