Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 988: Chapter 1031: Encountering a Thief

Ling Yueyue said expressionlessly: ”Don’t worry about where the money came from, I just have this much! You take it back! Consider it an explanation!”

”If I take it all, what will you eat? Keep a thousand for living expenses! Just give me two thousand!” Ling’s father said as he pulled out ten bills from the three thousand and handed them to Ling Yueyue.

Anyway, his task this time was just to get fifteen hundred for living expenses, two thousand was already more than enough! Going back, he could give an explanation!

He didn’t want his daughter to give all her money to them and have nothing left to eat herself!

”No need! Just the train fare back and forth costs a few hundred! Buy a sleeper ticket on the way back! Hard seats are tiring!” Ling Yueyue, though speaking in a calm tone, couldn’t hide the pain in her words.

She knew, based on her father’s nature, to save money, he would certainly buy a hard seat on a slow train! Coming from the countryside all the way here takes over ten hours! He usually is busy with farm work every day and doesn’t have time to rest! He’s hardly arrived and has to sit another ten hours back, which is really tiring!

As a daughter, she of course hopes her father can rest well when he can!

Hearing the concern in Ling Yueyue’s words, Ling’s father’s eyes couldn’t help but redden again!

Thinking of his own actions, and then of his daughter’s selflessness, Ling’s father really wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

After a struggle in his heart, Ling’s father eventually folded the three thousand yuan and put it into his clothes pocket!

Seeing her father accept the money, a flicker of inexplicable emotion crossed Ling Yueyue’s heart! She didn’t even understand herself; she clearly gave the three thousand to her father, but seeing him just accept it like that, she felt a strange sense of loss!

She thought, just for a moment, that her father cared for her and wouldn’t take the money! Unexpectedly, in the end, she was still disappointed! In the end, in her father’s eyes, she was never as important as money!

Suppressing her disappointment, Ling Yueyue spoke in an even more indifferent tone: ”I’ll buy the train ticket on my phone for you, once you get to the station, just use your ID to collect it!”

”Okay!” Ling’s father didn’t notice Ling Yueyue’s change in mood, just nodded lightly and sat back down across from her.

Ling Yueyue took out her phone, quickly swiping on it.

After a while, she finally lifted her head from her phone, ”The train ticket is bought! The train at half-past four in the afternoon, soft sleeper!”

Ling’s father nodded, hesitated as he looked at Ling Yueyue for a while, his mouth opened as if to say something, but in the end, he said nothing, just softly responded: ”Alright! Then I’m leaving!”

Seeing her father looking like he had something to say but refrained, Ling Yueyue sighed helplessly in her heart, softening her tone a bit, ”It’s still early, you’ll be waiting at the station! You took the train all night last night, you should be tired! I’ll book you a room at the hotel, you can rest a bit! I still have to go to work later! When it’s time, I’ll call you, and you can head to the train station then!”

Not wanting Yueyue to waste money again, Ling’s father quickly shook his head in refusal, ”No need, going to a hotel costs more money! I’ll just go to the train station and sit there! I can sleep once I’m on the train!”

Not leaving room for Ling’s father to refuse, Ling Yueyue stood up directly, ”Let’s go! I’ll take you to the hotel!” Saying this, she walked out of the breakfast shop without looking back!

Ling’s father looked at Ling Yueyue’s back with a complex expression, but in the end, he still followed!

Ling Yueyue didn’t go far, she found a medium-sized hotel for Ling’s father near the breakfast shop, spending over a hundred yuan to book him a room with a good environment!

This time, Ling’s father came alone, without any luggage, clearly not planning on staying long, so it was convenient for him to go anywhere!

After settling Ling’s father into the hotel room, before leaving, Ling Yueyue didn’t forget to remind him, ”It’s not even ten o’clock now, you can rest well! If you get hungry later, there’s a small restaurant downstairs where you can buy something to eat! I have to go to work soon, so I don’t have time to accompany you! If you need anything, just give me a call!”

”Okay!” Ling’s father obediently nodded, seeing Ling Yueyue off to the door.

Ling Yueyue cast a final complex look at Ling’s father, then turned around and left without looking back.

After leaving the hotel, Ling Yueyue walked to the side of the road, hailed a taxi, and instead of going to school, she headed straight to the café where she worked!

It was another busy day, and at two in the afternoon, during a bathroom break, Ling Yueyue took out her phone and called Ling’s father, telling him to head to the train station.

After making the call, Ling Yueyue resumed work.

Since she wasn’t allowed to have her phone while working, Ling Yueyue left her phone in the locker in the changing room! It wasn’t until the shift change at four-thirty in the afternoon that she found over ten missed calls on her phone.

All the calls were from Ling’s father!

Ling Yueyue changed her clothes, left the workplace, and only then called Ling’s father back!

The phone connected almost immediately, and before Ling Yueyue could speak, she heard Ling’s father’s teary voice, ”Yueyue!”

Hearing this voice, Ling Yueyue knew something was wrong and quickly asked, ”What happened?”

Ling’s father sobbed, ”Yueyue! Dad is useless, just now... all the money you gave me is gone! Sob... all of it is gone! I’m at the train station now, I can’t get on the train, can’t go home, and don’t have money to take a taxi to find you!”

Ling Yueyue frowned and asked, ”How could it be gone?”

Ling’s father said woefully, ”It seems it was stolen on the bus! When I reached the train station, I wanted to take out the ID to get the ticket! But the ID was gone, and my wallet was also lost! The three thousand you gave me and my own money were all in the wallet! Initially, my phone was also stolen with the wallet, but maybe the thief thought my phone wasn’t valuable and dropped it by my feet! I was baffled at first about how my phone fell! I never thought it was done by a thief!”

Hearing this, Ling Yueyue felt a flame rising up, ”Why did you take the bus instead of a taxi? Don’t you know there are more people and thieves on buses? I gave you plenty of money, taking the bus wouldn’t cost much at all!”

”Taking a taxi would cost fifty yuan! I thought, since I had enough time, I could take the bus! How could I have known, it was fine when I came, but on the way back, the money would be stolen!” Saying this, Ling’s father couldn’t help but cry over the phone like a child.

”Alright, just wait there at the train station, don’t go anywhere, I’ll come and find you now!” Despite being angry, hearing her father cry so sadly still softened Ling Yueyue’s heart!
