Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 851: Chapter 894: Alone in an Empty Room

Ruan Zhitong slowly opened her eyes the next day, and the first thing she did was feel the spot beside her.

It’s empty! Cold, without even a trace of Mu Beiting’s presence!

Could it be that Mu Beiting didn’t return to the room to sleep all night?

This realization made her frown slightly! Unhappy, she got up, washed up, didn’t change her clothes, and went downstairs in her pajamas.

When she went downstairs, Xiao Bai was cuddling little Chu Yi, playing with her on the sofa, while Mu Beiting was nowhere to be seen.

Ruan Zhitong walked over and asked, ”Xiao Bai, where’s Daddy?”

Xiao Bai looked up at Ruan Zhitong and explained, ”Daddy went out for a morning run with Uncle Pete! I was supposed to go with them, but Chu Yi made a fuss and wanted me to hold her, so I couldn’t go running with Daddy today. I stayed home to be with Chu Yi!”

Ruan Zhitong puzzledly asked, ”Uncle Pete? Why did he come so early today?”

Xiao Bai said, ”No, Uncle Pete didn’t go back all night!”

Upon hearing that Pete didn’t leave all night, Ruan Zhitong felt slightly relieved about Mu Beiting’s absence and hurriedly asked with concern, ”He didn’t go back all night? Is your daddy really that busy?”

Xiao Bai nodded, analyzing methodically, ”Yes! I heard from Uncle Pete that many things at the company need Dad’s handling! Mu Group is so big, with so many subsidiaries and diverse industries involved. Although each subsidiary has an executive CEO, there are still some problems they can’t handle! Over time, things accumulate day by day, so it’s imaginable that there’s a lot to deal with!”

”Oh!” Upon hearing Xiao Bai’s explanation, Ruan Zhitong’s gloom completely disappeared.

Back when they had the Ruan Group, she saw her father busy to the point of confusion every day! Moreover, at that time, Ruan Group wasn’t as big as Mu Group now! Being busy was entirely understandable!

With this thought, she felt much more cheerful about Mu Beiting’s absence all night.

Possibly wanting to ease the tense relationship between Ruan Zhitong and little Chu Yi, Xiao Bai held Chu Yi upright, took her little hand to touch Ruan Zhitong’s hand, and gently coaxed, ”Chu Yi, this is your mommy, your favorite mommy! Although mommy’s face is a little swollen and has changed a bit now, she’s still our mommy! Don’t cry anymore when mommy holds you, okay?”

Unfortunately, little Chu Yi was totally unimpressed. She glanced at Ruan Zhitong, then immediately looked away, her disdainful expression making Ruan Zhitong inwardly furious.

Even though she was gnashing her teeth in anger, Ruan Zhitong didn’t reveal it. Instead, she held little Chu Yi’s hand and said with a smile, ”Chu Yi, did you hear? I’m your mommy! Even though mom’s not as pretty as before, I’m still your mommy! After a while, mommy’s face will recover and be as beautiful as it was before! Don’t dislike mommy anymore, okay?”

Ruan Zhitong’s voice was soft and sweet as she spoke, coupled with the expression on her face! Anyone would be melted by her warm smile.

But little Chu Yi just wasn’t buying it! Several times, she tried to pull her little hand out of Ruan Zhitong’s grip, but alas, at just over three months old, her hand was unsteady and too weak, unable to break free!

Unable to pull her hand out, little Chu Yi stared at Ruan Zhitong with big watery eyes, then her mouth crumpled, and she burst into tears.

”Oh dear...why are you crying again!” Seeing little Chu Yi cry just from Ruan Zhitong touching her hand, Xiao Bai felt overwhelmed.

Ruan Zhitong’s eyes flashed coldly, gritting her teeth inwardly while tenderly saying, ”Sigh... Seems she’s still scared of seeing me like this!” As she spoke, she let go of Chu Yi’s hand in frustration.

Indeed, as soon as her hand was released, little Chu Yi stopped crying and gave a cheeky grin to Xiao Bai, seemingly declaring her victory!

Apparently understanding the hidden meaning behind little Chu Yi’s grin, Xiao Bai couldn’t help but twitch a smile, finding it both amusing and frustrating.

Worried his mommy might be upset, Xiao Bai quickly consoled, ”Mommy, don’t be sad. Once your face is healed, Chu Yi will accept you! Right now, she’s just a looks-a-holic!”

Even though he, too, felt somewhat estranged from this new mommy, feeling different from before! Yet, she’s still his mommy; he’s a sensible child—he can’t shun his mommy nor do anything to upset her.

”I know, it’s okay!” Ruan Zhitong pretended to care, touched Xiao Bai’s head, and smiled warmly.

At that moment, Mu Beiting and Pete returned from jogging outside! Seeing Ruan Zhitong already awake, Pete quickly greeted with a smile, ”Madam, you’re awake!”

Ruan Zhitong quickly greeted him with a smile at the door, ”Yes! Brother Pete is all sweaty; would you like to shower in the guest room?”

Pete smelled his armpits on both sides, smiling and nodding, ”Alright, thank you madam!”

”Then I’ll go find a set of your BOSS’s clothes for you to temporarily change into!” As she spoke, Ruan Zhitong was ready to go upstairs to find clothes, but Pete stopped her, ”Madam, no need. Last night I had my family send me clothes! I have my own clothes, don’t need the president’s!” Saying that, he pretended not to see Ruan Zhitong’s stiff expression, and quickly headed upstairs.

Staring dazedly at Pete’s retreating figure upstairs, it took Ruan Zhitong quite a while to come to her senses.

What does it mean to have clothes sent by family? What does he mean by that? Is he planning to stay long?

Is he preparing to have nightly battles with Mu Beiting?

What about her? If Mu Beiting is busy with him every night, would she have to spend the nights alone?

Thinking about this possibility, Ruan Zhitong’s complexion didn’t look too good.

Seeing her subtle expressions, Mu Beiting walked over, hooked her shoulder, and gently said, ”Honey, are you upset?”

Ruan Zhitong quickly shook her head, smiling, ”No! Brother Pete’s here as a guest; why would I be upset? It’s just a bit sudden since you didn’t mention it yesterday!”

Mu Beiting explained, ”This was decided last minute last night! A week’s worth of accumulated work and two subsidiaries facing some issues made these few days very busy! So last night, we decided to have Pete temporarily move in, so we can handle the work swiftly! Otherwise, the company will face its greatest-ever crisis!”
