Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 642: Chapter 685: Clever Girl

Upon hearing that she resembles Mu Beiting, Mu Huajian paused his hand holding the brush, and Mo Xuehong’s image flashed through his mind involuntarily.

”Let her in, bring her to my study!” After contemplating for a while, Mu Huajian decided to meet the girl whom the housekeeper described as resembling Mu Beiting.

Mu Huajian had always known that Mu Beiting resembled his mother! So, this girl with the surname Qin might very well be Mu Beiting’s half-sister from their mother’s side!

However, he wasn’t sure what her purpose of seeking him was.

While practicing his calligraphy, Mu Huajian waited for the housekeeper to bring Qin Muyao in.

Before long, the housekeeper led in a pale, sickly-looking girl whose eyebrows conveyed extreme vulnerability.

Following the housekeeper inside, Qin Muyao lowered her head without waiting for Mu Huajian to speak, and weakly called out, ”Uncle!”

Her voice was very light and soft, carrying a hint of fragility and helplessness, invoking natural sympathy.

Mu Huajian had never expected that Mo Xuehong, a woman he thought was uneducated and arrogant beyond measure, could raise such a polite and pitiable daughter!

Mu Huajian glanced at the housekeeper, ”You can leave now!”

”Yes!” The housekeeper nodded, turned to leave, and closed the door behind them.

After the housekeeper left, Mu Huajian finally asked, ”What’s your name?”

”My name is Qin Muyao, my mother is Mo Xuehong! I’m Mu Beiting’s half-sister from our mother’s side!” Qin Muyao did not conceal it, revealing her identity before Mu Huajian even asked.

Mu Huajian generously praised her, ”You’re quite a smart girl!”

”Thank you, Uncle!” Qin Muyao gracefully accepted his praise, without displaying the slightest shyness or embarrassment like other girls might.

Mu Huajian placed the brush on the inkstone and pointed to a nearby leather sofa, ”Sit down! Would you like some tea?”

Qin Muyao, neither humble nor arrogant, half-jokingly said, ”I’ve heard your Kung Fu tea is very tasty, if I’m fortunate enough, I’d love to try your craft!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Huajian couldn’t help but laugh, ”Haha! I like girls like you, neither humble nor arrogant, frank and open, straightforward!”

Qin Muyao responded with a smile, ”Thank you for your praise, Uncle!”

”Have a seat! I’ll let you try my craft!” Saying this, he led Qin Muyao to sit on a leather sofa next to a small tea table while he sat on the other side, skillfully brewing Kung Fu tea with clear, clean utensils.

Qin Muyao quietly sat beside him, saying nothing, doing nothing, just calmly waiting for Mu Huajian to brew the tea!

Soon, Mu Huajian handed her the brewed Kung Fu tea with a smile, ”Try it, see how it tastes compared to the tea houses outside?”

”Okay!” Qin Muyao nodded, taking the tea he offered and tasted it carefully, then opened her mouth wide with unabashed praise, ”Uncle’s craft truly lives up to its reputation, the flavor is indeed unique, leaving a lingering aroma long after drinking! It’s truly good tea, with an even better craftsmanship!”

Everyone likes being praised, especially someone like Mu Huajian, a lonely old man at home, who burst into laughter after hearing Qin Muyao’s compliments, ”I’ve lived most of my life, never met a girl as sweet-mouthed as you! You’re worlds apart from your mother! I really don’t understand how she raised such a good daughter like you!”

Upon hearing Mo Xuehong mentioned, Qin Muyao’s eyes darkened, ”Actually, my mother is really good, she’s been very kind to me. Without her, I wouldn’t be here today! So, I’m very grateful for the life she’s given me and for raising me into an adult! Her kindness to me I’d never forget in this lifetime, and I’ll take good care of her within my remaining time, making sure she lives happily!”

Hearing this, Mu Huajian frowned and asked puzzled, ”Limited time? What do you mean?”

Qin Muyao lowered her head and said sorrowfully, ”Since Uncle asked, I won’t beat around the bush! I’ve actually come to seek a favor from you today! I know it’s not appropriate to ask you upon first meeting, but... I really have no choice... My time is running out, this is my only option at the moment!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Huajian’s frown deepened, ”Just say what you need to say!”

Qin Muyao, with reddened eyes, spoke softly, ”It’s like this! I was diagnosed with a terminal illness three years ago, and a few days ago, the hospital said I have at most a month to live! Over these three years, my mother spent everything she had exhausting all options to keep me alive! You may not like my mom, perhaps even detest her, but she’s truly given her all for me! Over a month ago, when I realized my life was nearing its end, I didn’t want my mom left alone in the world with no one to care for her in her old age! Therefore, I pleaded with my mom to return to Jin City with me to find my brother! In fact, all these twenty-five years, my mom never forgot my brother, even calling his name in her dreams! But, she held back from seeking him to avoid disturbing his life and causing him trouble! Over a month ago, if not for my persistent request, she wouldn’t have returned! But you know my brother’s character, even having returned all this time, my brother hasn’t yet reconciled with my mother. Seeing my time running out, I’m truly at a loss, I can only seek you, hoping you’ll help my mom, let them reconcile, so that even when I’m gone, she won’t be lonely, at least having a son around!”

”She misses Beiting?” Hearing Qin Muyao say Mo Xuehong calls Mu Beiting’s name in her dreams, Mu Huajian clearly didn’t believe it.

He had a bias against Mo Xuehong, but mostly because of her words at the restaurant last time!

He’d never forget Mo Xuehong’s arrogant look back then, as if Mu Beiting was merely a puppet in her hands, subject to her whims.

Such a woman, he couldn’t see in her any aspect of motherhood!

Noticing the doubt in Mu Huajian’s eyes, Qin Muyao explained, ”I know you might not believe it, but it’s the truth! Ten years ago, mom said she felt compelled to give my brother to uncle for him to have a better living environment! She took that one million to force herself to have no retreat, even not to come back and find my brother! If she truly were cold-hearted, how did she love me so deeply! She’s almost transferred all her love for my brother to me!”
