Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Out of Sorts

Ye Anxin was very fast, her hands and feet even more nimble than Mother Ye’s. Plus, Mother Ye had already washed and cut the vegetables, so all that was left was to cook them! In less than an hour, a table full of fragrant dishes was ready.

Ye Anxin carried the finished dishes to the dining table outside while shouting, ”Mom, could you call Dad to see when he’s coming home?”

”Okay!” Mother Ye responded, but just as she took out her phone, she heard the sound of a key turning in the door.

Ling Yueyue exchanged a glance with Mother Ye and said with a smile, ”It must be Uncle who’s back!”

Mother Ye nodded and put her phone away.

The door of the rental apartment opened, and before Father Ye even made a sound, he could be heard saying ingratiatingly, ”Mr. Huo, please come in. My home is small; please don’t mind!”

Sitting on the sofa, Ling Yueyue was stunned when she heard Father Ye’s address, and the smile on her lips gradually froze.

Immediately after, Huo Junmo’s pleasant and deep voice came, ”It’s fine. Being invited by Uncle to Auntie’s birthday party is my pleasure! If I had known earlier, I would have hosted everyone out to dinner!”

Upon hearing this voice, Ling Yueyue’s face instantly turned pale, and her body started to tremble slightly without her even realizing it.

”It’s our honor to have Mr. Huo here. Mr. Huo, please come in!” Father Ye smiled flatteringly as he led Huo Junmo inside.

Mother Ye stood by the door, momentarily stunned upon seeing Huo Junmo.

Because this man was simply too remarkable! He was dressed in a navy suit, exuding an aura of nobility from inside out! The man had a tall, model-like lean physique, healthy tanned skin, sharply defined eyebrows, a high-bridged nose, thin but tightly pressed lips, and a pair of dark eyes that occasionally flashed with emerald. The aura he carried was complex, a mix of various traits, sometimes melancholic, sometimes profound, sometimes gentle, sometimes devilish! In short, he was someone unforgettable at first sight.

Mother Ye racked her brains trying to think when her husband had met such an outstanding man, and asked puzzled, ”And who is this?”

Father Ye pulled Huo Junmo in front of Mother Ye, boastingly ending, ”This is Anxin’s boyfriend, our future son-in-law. What do you think, isn’t he outstanding? He’s the head of the Huo Tian Group, isn’t he young and promising?”

Upon hearing Father Ye’s introduction, Ling Yueyue’s face turned even paler, and her trembling intensified.

At this moment, Ye Anxin happened to come out with the last bowl of food. Seeing Huo Junmo standing in the living room, she was momentarily stunned, ”Mr. Huo, why are you here?”

Father Ye gave Ye Anxin a look, ”Silly girl, what nonsense are you saying? Today is your mother’s birthday. As the future son-in-law, how could he not come!”

Ye Anxin blushed slightly, and angrily said, ”Dad, what nonsense are you talking about! Aren’t you afraid Mr. Huo will laugh at us!”

Father Ye raised his eyebrows, speaking matter-of-factly, ”What’s there to laugh about, I’m telling the truth! It’s been so long, and you haven’t even brought him home to meet us gradually. Your mom worries about you every day for nothing!”

At this moment, Mother Ye walked to Ye Anxin’s side, her expression complex as she asked, ”Anxin, is this Mr. Huo really your boyfriend?”

”Mom, don’t listen to Dad’s nonsense. Mr. Huo and I are just ordinary friends! Besides... besides, I’m already I...!” In her anxiety, Ye Anxin almost revealed that she was already married! Fortunately, she stopped at the critical moment.

If Uncle found out she had revealed their relationship, who knows how angry he would be!

Mother Ye, seeing her about to speak but then stopping, couldn’t help but ask, ”You’re already what?”

”Nothing, let’s eat!” Ye Anxin didn’t want to continue being entangled in this topic, so she hurriedly changed the subject.

”Mr. Huo, please take the seat of honor!” Father Ye rushed to the dining table, showing Huo Junmo the honored seat, setting up the bench for him, and then making a gesture of invitation.

Huo Junmo politely said, ”Today is Auntie’s birthday. Auntie should be the honored guest. I’ll just sit next to Miss Ye!”

Father Ye turned his eyes, seemingly having thought of something, and quickly nodded with a smile.

Ye Anxin shot Father Ye a glance, too lazy to bother with him, walked to the sofa, sat down next to Ling Yueyue, and said with concern, ”Yueyue, what’s wrong? Let’s go eat!”

”Okay!” Ling Yueyue nodded, forcing herself to calm down so as not to let others notice anything unusual, and mustered a slight smile as she went with Ye Anxin to the dining room.

Huo Junmo watched Ling Yueyue and greeted her with a smile, ”Miss Ling!”

”Mr. Huo!” Ling Yueyue smiled faintly with a pale face, automatically sitting opposite Huo Junmo.

After seating Ling Yueyue, Ye Anxin went into the kitchen to serve rice for everyone.

Mother Ye immediately followed her in, getting close to her and asking in a barely audible voice, ”Anxin, is that Mr. Huo really your boyfriend?”

Ye Anxin couldn’t help but roll her eyes, ”Mom, stop saying that, we’re just ordinary friends; we’ve only met a few times in total. If you all keep this up, it’ll be awkward for him!”

”But I think this Mr. Huo seems to have a good impression of you! Otherwise... why would he humble himself and come here? Do you really think your dad has such influence that he could invite him?” Mother Ye paused before continuing, ”I think this Mr. Huo is quite good. If you like him, make sure to grasp it! Mom doesn’t have any other big wishes in her life, just that you find someone you like who also likes you and live a peaceful life! Don’t end up like me, muddling through life, not even knowing how I got through these years!”

”Mom, don’t worry, I’ll handle it properly!” Ye Anxin nodded solemnly, then alongside Mother Ye, took the rice out.

After distributing the rice to everyone, Ye Anxin sat down next to Ling Yueyue.

Her actions made Father Ye’s expression freeze, and he said irritably, ”Anxin, why are you sitting there? Sit next to Mr. Huo! He’s a guest, you should take good care of him on our behalf!”

Ye Anxin replied helplessly, ”Dad... Mr. Huo is a guest, but isn’t Yueyue also a guest?”

”You...!” Father Ye, choked with rage, felt extremely uncomfortable.

Huo Junmo quickly intervened, ”It’s fine, Uncle, don’t be angry. Miss Ye makes a good point, they’re both guests, we shouldn’t play favorites!”

Since Huo Junmo had spoken, even if Father Ye was still frustrated and disappointed, he had to hold it in.

Ye Anxin chuckled and quickly said, ”Let’s eat!”

Huo Junmo nodded, picked up his bowl and chopsticks, and after taking a bite of rice, noticed Ling Yueyue sitting in a daze. Smiling slightly, he asked with concern, ”Miss Ling, your face looks so pale, are you feeling unwell?”
