The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Yang Lao Mao and Yang Dachou stormed into Yang Erchou’s home with aggressive intent.

Initially, they fantasized about showing their power, accusing Yang Erchou of not taking them seriously and making him apologize, feel guilty, and then compensate them with some money or something.

But upon arriving at Yang Erchou’s home, before these two could say anything, the Old Madam took charge.

The Old Madam grabbed a broom and started chasing Yang Lao Mao: ”You old codger, you still have the nerve to come here, I told you before, wherever I am, you can’t go, did you hear me or not, or do you take me for dead...”

Yang Lao Mao was chased around the courtyard by the Old Madam.

Yang Dachou quickly intervened: ”Mom, what are you saying? We came today because we heard that Anning ranked as the top scorer in the province, and we specially came to inquire.”

Upon hearing this, the Old Madam was delighted and extended her hand to Yang Dachou: ”Yes, Anning ranked as the top scorer in the province, what a glorious achievement! So, you as the uncle want to support, Ningning is about to start school, how much money will you give?”

”Well, well, it’s not that I don’t have money.”

Yang Dachou was put in a tough spot by the Old Madam’s remark: ”Besides, Erchou isn’t lacking money.”

”Whether Erchou lacks money is his business, what you as the uncle should express is your business.”

The Old Madam tossed aside the broom: ”Don’t think I don’t know why you’re here, I’ve watched you all my life, I understand your nature, I can tell what you’re up to just by glancing at you...”

These words from the Old Madam made Yang Lao Mao and Yang Dachou extremely embarrassed.

Yang Lao Mao was livid, his face red: ”You, you are simply being unreasonable.”

The Old Madam didn’t back down: ”What, did I hit the mark, and you’re angry about it?”

With that, the Old Madam chuckled: ”So, you as the grandfather came to give money, how much will you give Ningning?”

”Did you give any?”

Yang Lao Mao’s face turned black.

The Old Madam immediately raised her voice: ”What, you think I didn’t give any, then you misunderstood me, I’m not like you, stuck in your old feudal ways, I admit I was wrong before, influenced by you I favored boys over girls, but I’ve changed now, I just see my granddaughter doing well, both filial and sensible, she got into college, how could I not show my support.”

The Old Madam called Anning over: ”Come, Ningning, tell your grandfather how much I gave you?”

Anning laughed: ”I didn’t want it, but grandma insisted, she saved this US$ 100 for a long time and gave it all to me.”

The Old Madam was particularly proud: ”Old codger, what about you?”

Yang Lao Mao was trembling with anger: ”I have no money.”

Yang Dachou quickly added: ”Mom, father and I really don’t have money, you know our family is struggling, if you have money why didn’t you give us some...”

The Old Madam was almost jumping up and down: ”Nonsense, why would I give you any? Did you treat me well at all? I was so sick, you didn’t even think about taking me to the hospital, always thinking about saving money, letting me linger at home for so long, if it weren’t for Erchou insisting on taking me to the hospital, I probably wouldn’t even be alive now, he paid the hospital fees, Erchou’s wife and Anning took such good care of me, and you, when it was your turn to take care of a sick person, you always found excuses, I spent so many days in the hospital, and you only visited once, you still have the nerve to ask me, let me ask you, what evil have I done as a mother to make you treat me like this.”

The Old Madam truly went all out, directly exposing Yang Dachou, making his face turn red and speechless.

Just then, there was a commotion at the door.

Soon, Yang Junni and her sisters arrived on bicycles.

The three sisters were covered in sweat, indicating they had hurried over.

Yang Junni entered without even drinking a sip of water and smiled at Anning: ”Ningning, you’re incredible, absolutely incredible, how is it you’re so smart, you’ve already become the top scorer, it’s really... As soon as I heard about it, I rushed over, I must quickly see our family’s female top scorer.”

Yang Baoni also smiled and praised Anning for a bit.

Yang Lingni held Anning’s hand tightly: ”Ningning is really amazing, I told you, our family will rely on Ningning in the future, now it seems my words were spot on.”

Yang Junni took out US$ 100 from her pocket and handed it to Anning: ”Here, take it, this is a token from me and your uncle, buy two sets of clothes, make yourself look bright.”

Yang Baoni and Yang Lingni each took out US$ 100 and handed it to Anning: ”Take it, take it, it’s not much money, but use it to buy some good food, nourish yourself, I see my big niece has gotten thinner studying hard, now take advantage of the holidays to replenish.”

”Thank you, auntie.”

Anning smiled as she accepted the money.

The Old Madam was pleased.

”It’s nice that you all as aunties care for Ningning, I told you, you’re all good, you have conscience, you know how well your second brother treats you, and you understand the proper etiquette, you’ve expressed your care when you come, unlike some who only want to take advantage and don’t express anything.”

At this point, the Old Madam glanced at Yang Lao Mao and Yang Dachou.

Yang Lao Mao and Yang Dachou were so embarrassed they couldn’t stand it anymore.

After those two left, Anning happily went inside.

She now felt that the Old Madam’s character was quite nice.

The Old Madam prioritizes interests, she knows where the benefits are, and follows them for a better life.

As long as she supports someone, she wholeheartedly supports them, and if someone touches the person she supports, she will definitely show what it means to turn hostile, to be unreasonable and shameless.

Anning felt she made the right move by bringing the Old Madam over, with her around, it reduces many annoying issues at home, making it much calmer.

The cost for Anning was nothing more than speaking sweetly to coax the Old Madam, buying her a few nice outfits to make her feel proud, and providing good food.

To Anning, these are trivial matters.

By paying such a small price, she could avoid many troubles, which Anning believed was well worth it.

Yang Erchou and Li Cuixia also felt it was worth it.

Yang Erchou is shrewd.

Otherwise, he couldn’t have turned things around just a few years after leaving with nothing, nor would he have made life so prosperous, he can figure out whatever Anning thinks of.

Of course, Yang Erchou is genuinely filial.

Even though he also intends to alleviate troubles with the Old Madam, his kindness towards her is sincere.

Not long after the results came out, Anning received her admission letter from Imperial University.

Receiving the letter means Anning will soon be heading to the Capital to report.

Yang Erchou and Li Cuixia began buzzing around.

They had to prepare many things for Anning.

Seeing Li Cuixia preparing to pack even thick quilts, Anning quickly advised: ”Mom, don’t prepare those, the school will provide bedding, if you prepare them, they won’t be allowed.”

”Really?”

Li Cuixia truly wasn’t aware of this.

Anning nodded: ”Yes, really, the school issues them uniformly, along with things like washbasins and thermos, they don’t allow you to use personal items.”

Whether true or not, Anning insisted, otherwise Li Cuixia would pack the whole house up.

After hearing the school provides things, Li Cuixia stopped preparing: ”Then I have to give you more pocket money, so you won’t be mistreated when you get there, I heard the Capital has especially high costs, the expenses must be huge, let me tell you, you must not save money and suffer, our family isn’t extremely wealthy, but it can cover your nutrition and clothing.”

Anning nodded repeatedly: ”I understand, I understand.”

Then Anning spoke with Li Cuixia and Yang Erchou: ”I’ve never been to the Capital, someone from our family must accompany me to report there.”

Li Cuixia looked at Yang Erchou: ”Let your father accompany you.”

Yang Erchou thought for a moment: ”Alright, I’ll arrange things at the factory.”

Anning held Li Cuixia’s hand: ”Mom, accompany me too, you haven’t been to the Capital either, I’ve heard Imperial University is amazing, don’t you want to see it? This time our whole family should go, then you can also enjoy a few days in the Capital.”

Just then, the Old Madam overheard: ”All go, all go, I’m at home, let your mom and dad accompany you.”

Anning quickly hugged the Old Madam’s shoulder: ”Grandma, you should come with us too, while we’re still able to go, you must see the Capital.”

”Is it appropriate for me to go?”

The Old Madam’s eyes were full of excitement, but she was still saying polite words.

Yang Erchou quickly nodded: ”Suitable, suitable, then we all go together, witness some new experiences in the Capital with Ningning.”
