The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Slapping the Fake Daughter 40

Xiao Yuan got excited.

He grabbed Anning: ”Anning, let’s try to hack into my dad’s company’s database later and see how vulnerable their firewall is.”

”Don’t you dare.”

Song Ruyi was annoyed.

Anning obediently nodded: ”I won’t do it, my mom doesn’t allow it.”

”You really are your mom’s good daughter.”

Xiao Yuan pouted: ”Alright, if you say no, then no.”

But Xiao Hongyi seemed to have thought of something: ”Student Zhao, how about we give it a try?”

He turned to Song Ruyi and said, ”I am inviting Student Zhao to test our company’s firewall to see if it’s robust, it’s not illegal, you should agree to that, right?”

What else could Song Ruyi say, she could only nod with a smile: ”Kids are just messing around, if you really want to try, go ahead.”

Xiao Hongyi then smiled at Anning: ”Uncle won’t let you work for free, how about Uncle pays you a salary?”

Xiao Yuan scoffed: ”Mr. Xiao, is it really necessary to talk about money all the time? If you’re talking about a salary, that would be hiring child labor.”

Before Xiao Hongyi could say anything, Xiao Yuan added: ”Besides, the salary you’re talking about can hire our class’s God of Study? Plus, Anning doesn’t need the money. If you’re really sincere, just give a generous gift for Anning’s upcoming birthday.”

Anning was amused by Xiao Yuan’s words: ”Xiao Yuan, you really know how to make things awkward for your dad.”

Xiao Yuan mumbled: ”Anyway, if I don’t ask him for it, he’d just keep it for someone else.”

Xiao Hongyi pretended not to hear that.

He assured Anning with a smile: ”Yuan Yuan is right. If you help Uncle test it, Uncle will give you a red envelope and a very special birthday gift, how about that?”

Anning thought for a moment and agreed.

But she had her conditions clear: ”Uncle Xiao, if I really do break through your company’s firewall, don’t blame me. Also, if is truly vulnerable, I can help strengthen it, but that’s a separate matter to be dealt with.”

”Definitely, definitely.”

Although Xiao Hongyi said this, he didn’t really believe that Anning, a child, could break through the firewall made by professionals in his company.

Soon, Teacher Wu arrived.

She first got acquainted with the parents, then shared the results of the recent midterm exams.

Teacher Wu seemed very happy: ”This exam, our class’s overall scores have significantly improved, raising several dozen points, which has never happened before. Here, I want to praise a student, Zhao Anning. Although she hasn’t been in our class for long, Zhao Anning studies diligently, respects teachers, unites her classmates, and it’s also thanks to her tutoring that our class’s performance has improved.”

After Teacher Wu finished speaking, many parents looked towards Anning.

Anning, feeling shy, hid behind Song Ruyi.

Teacher Wu waited a while and then continued: ”I also want to praise another student, Xiao Yuan. Xiao Yuan has moved up nearly three hundred places through hard work, which is really not easy. I hope he continues to strive for excellence, and of course, I hope all students will study hard to create their own brilliance.”

After that, Teacher Wu spoke with the parents about taking good care of students at home, doing ideological work for students, and working with the school to cultivate talented individuals.

After Teacher Wu finished, several parents stood up with questions.

Some parents also asked Song Ruyi how she disciplined her child.

Song Ruyi could only chuckle: ”I’ve never really disciplined her, it’s all Ningning’s own effort. She doesn’t play games or watch TV at home and is always studying. Her father and I are almost worried to death, afraid she’ll wear herself out. Despite this, she’s still asking to sign up for hobby classes, to learn more while she has the time, oh, it really worries me.”

While Song Ruyi said this out loud, she was secretly overjoyed.

Other parents felt sour inside.

They thought they came to seek advice on parenting, not to hear her brag about her child.

Anning felt a bit tired of hearing this and quietly tugged at Song Ruyi’s arm.

Song Ruyi ignored her: ”But, children nowadays mature early, have strong self-esteem, and we as a family know to respect our child, and we absolutely trust her. We don’t scold or beat her, and also, parents should often praise their children.”

Several parents couldn’t help but nod: ”Yes, what you said is right.”

Xiao Hongyi couldn’t help but reflect upon hearing that.

Over the years, he indeed had not paid much attention to Xiao Yuan; he was too busy with work, and the father and son didn’t spend much time together, which led to Xiao Yuan lacking proper guidance and becoming somewhat irresponsible.

He thought about the words he said last night and truly felt that he had gone too far.

When he looked at Xiao Yuan again, Xiao Hongyi’s face was filled with guilt.

After the parent-teacher meeting, all the parents left, while the students still had to stay to listen to the teacher talk more before they could leave.

By the time school was dismissed at noon, several students had surrounded Zhao Anning.

Zhang Ke laughed and patted Zhao Anning’s shoulder: ”That’s impressive, Student Zhao Anning, so righteous. I’ll come to you if I have any troubles in the future.”

”Too cool.”

Gao Nana gave a thumbs-up: ”You actually dared to scold Xiao Yuan’s dad; you really have guts.”

Zhao Anning blinked, looking puzzled: ”What’s wrong? If Uncle Xiao is wrong, why can’t I point it out? If I don’t tell him, how will he know that he wronged Xiao Yuan? How will he realize the great hurt he has caused to Xiao Yuan? If Uncle Xiao and Xiao Yuan keep misunderstanding each other and their conflict grows bigger, and it reaches an irreparable point, that would be truly awful.”

Zhang Ke quietly asked Zhao Anning, ”Do you know who Uncle Xiao is?”

Anning raised an eyebrow: ”I didn’t know before, but I found out from his information yesterday, he’s just the richest man.”

”Oh my god!” Zhang Ke almost screamed: ”The richest man, you really...”

Zhao Anning proudly patted herself: ”I believe that my achievements in the future won’t be less than his.”

”Arrogant.”

Zhang Ke gave a thumbs-up.

”Too self-confident.” Dong Xue laughed and clapped twice.

Gao Nana jumped onto a table and sat: ”But sister likes it.”

Song Ruyi didn’t go home after coming out of the school but went to find Zhao Han at his company.

It was almost lunchtime when she got there.

Song Ruyi didn’t enter the company; instead, she called Zhao Han from downstairs to have lunch together.

She waited for about ten minutes, and Zhao Han hurried down.

”Did you wait long? I just finished a meeting.”

Zhao Han came down sweating, clearly in a hurry.

”Not long.” Song Ruyi smiled, asked Zhao Han to get in the car, and drove to a private restaurant.

After the two entered a private room and waited for their food, Song Ruyi served Zhao Han some dishes and asked him: ”Do you know who I saw today?”

”Who?”

Zhao Han thought Song Ruyi was going to mention bumping into someone familiar.

Little did he know Song Ruyi was about to give him a shock: ”Xiao Hongyi.”

”What?”

Zhao Han’s served dish dropped onto the table: ”Whom did you say? The richest man, Xiao Hongyi?”

Song Ruyi smiled and nodded: ”I’m telling you, Xiao Hongyi’s son and Ningning are in the same class. It’s that Xiao Yuan who visited our house before. He also attended the parent-teacher meeting today and happened to sit next to me.”

”Really?”

Zhao Han felt it was somewhat unbelievable.

The Zhao Family was also pretty wealthy and the company wasn’t small, but compared to the richest man, it was indeed far less.

”It couldn’t be more real.”

Song Ruyi carefully told Zhao Han about today’s events: ”The richest man and such are trivial matters; we aren’t the type to curry favor, nor would we rush into it. But I’m worried about Ningning. This child is too smart; imagine, she only interacted with a computer for a few days, yet she could hack into the school’s database. If she learns more, that would be something else. The most crucial point is that she’s still a child, not quite understanding worldly matters and legalities. If she causes trouble, it would be a huge disaster.”
