The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Slapping the Fake Heiress 38

Zhang Ke persuaded and coaxed, and finally did not let Xiao Yuan drink.

He pulled Xiao Yuan to play games for over an hour, and Xiao Yuan guessed the torment in the game.

Although he had fun playing, Xiao Yuan’s interest was never very high.

Just as Zhang Ke was thinking about asking Anning what to do next, he heard Xiao Hongyi’s voice from downstairs.

”Xiao Yuan, where are you?”

Xiao Yuan didn’t move, and Zhang Ke quickly responded and ran downstairs: ”Uncle Xiao, we are here.”

He ran downstairs in slippers, almost tripping halfway, which made Xiao Hongyi a bit worried: ”Take it slow, don’t fall.”

Zhang Ke smiled and sprung up to Xiao Hongyi: ”You finally came, if you hadn’t, Xiao Yuan would have tortured me to death.”

”What happened?”

Xiao Hongyi glanced upstairs.

”I don’t know why Xiao Yuan is angry tonight, he did well in the exams this time, and was quite happy after school.” Zhang Ke scratched his head, looking quite annoyed: ”Uncle Xiao, do you know?”

”Cough, cough...”

Xiao Hongyi awkwardly looked at Zhang Ke: ”It’s all my fault, Xiao Yuan brought back his report card, and I suspected he cheated.”

”What?”

Zhang Ke almost jumped up: ”How could you do that? I wondered why Xiao Yuan wanted to drink with me, it turns out it was all your fault, Uncle Xiao, I have to say, you really shouldn’t have done that, do you know how hard Xiao Yuan has been studying recently? Always buried in books and doing problems, you are just undermining his enthusiasm.”

Xiao Hongyi felt even more guilty.

”Ah, today you’re not the first one to criticize me, a little girl just called me and really gave me a dressing down.”

”Was it Zhao Anning?” Zhang Ke guessed right away: ”Then you shouldn’t be mad at her, she was just defending Xiao Yuan.”

Xiao Hongyi laughed, patting Zhang Ke’s head: ”In your eyes, do I look like someone who would get mad at a child? The girl has a fiery temper and is quite blunt, but I can tell she was really worried, probably really concerned about Xiao Yuan.”

Zhang Ke nodded: ”Zhao Anning is pretty good, she’s nice to everyone in our class, she’s very patient when answering questions, and she highlights the key points for us. She ranked first in our grade in the exams, you don’t know, it really made our class shine.”

After saying this, Zhang Ke led Xiao Hongyi upstairs: ”Go see Xiao Yuan, have a good talk with him, and don’t let him dwell on negative thoughts.”

Waiting for Xiao Hongyi to enter the game room, Zhang Ke ran downstairs to call Anning.

Anning was almost asleep when the phone ringing woke her up.

”Zhang Ke, do you see what time it is?”

Anning was gritting her teeth.

Zhang Ke quickly apologized: ”Sorry about that, I’m a night owl.”

”But I need to sleep.” Anning said angrily: ”Speak quickly.”

Zhang Ke laughed: ”I have to say you did well, daring to call and lecture Uncle Xiao, little girl, I really underestimated you before.”

Anning huffed: ”It’s all your fault, knowing that Xiao Yuan was upset, couldn’t you have just called his dad and let him know instead of making me do it and offend someone.”

Zhang Ke raised his thumb: ”Thanks for that, I’ll treat you to something good later.”

”Alright, I’m hanging up.”

Anning turned off her phone, pulled her blanket up, and fell asleep soon after.

Xiao Hongyi pushed open the door of the game room, only to see Xiao Yuan sitting on the floor playing with the game console.

He coughed, and Xiao Yuan looked back, his face cold and unresponsive.

Xiao Hongyi’s face couldn’t hold the expression.

But, today it was indeed his fault, he could only muster up the courage to sit down next to Xiao Yuan, and apologized like Xiao Yuan: ”I was wrong today.”

Xiao Hongyi gritted his teeth and apologized to Xiao Yuan: ”Sorry, I... I didn’t have enough trust in you, I shouldn’t have suspected you of cheating without asking clearly, I won’t do it again.”

Xiao Yuan was quite surprised, turning his head to look at Xiao Hongyi: ”It’s not easy, you even know how to apologize to me.”

Xiao Hongyi felt a bit guilty: ”No matter who it is, if they are wrong, they have to apologize, even if I am your dad, but I still owe you an apology.”

Xiao Yuan continued playing the game: ”How do you know I didn’t cheat.”

Xiao Hongyi did not want to say that Anning had called to scold him, so he found an excuse: ”I asked your classmates and teachers.”

Xiao Yuan coldly played through another round, then threw the game console aside: ”Apology done, you can go now.”

He propped himself up with his right hand and stood up: ”I need to sleep.”

Xiao Hongyi also stood up: ”Yuan Yuan, I will definitely change, I will understand you more and communicate more with you, how about, let’s go home?”

Xiao Yuan shook his head: ”Why go back, to see your happy family of three?”

That remark was a bit piercing.

Xiao Hongyi wanted to erupt on the spot, but still suppressed his anger: ”What happy family of three, aren’t you a member of this family? Aunt Tian is so good to you, always thinking of you, and your sister lets you have your way, what more are you dissatisfied with? Must you disrupt the whole family’s peace?”

Xiao Yuan, hands in pockets, had a careless demeanor: ”What Aunt Tian, she’s just a mistress, the mistress who broke into someone else’s family.”

Xiao Hongyi immediately changed his expression: ”Who told you that?”

Xiao Yuan turned his face away: ”Who else could have said it, can’t I see it myself?”

Xiao Hongyi was extremely angry: ”So, all these years, is that how you’ve seen your Aunt Tian? Alright, alright, you really are...”

”What am I really?”

Xiao Yuan sneered: ”What about you marrying Aunt Tian to take care of me, that’s just a lie, you just wanted to take care of your illegitimate daughter...”

Xiao Yuan hadn’t finished speaking when Xiao Hongyi angrily slapped him.

Xiao Yuan’s eyes turned colder: ”What, did I hit a nerve?”

Xiao Hongyi stood on the ground, gasping heavily, managing to suppress his anger without hitting Xiao Yuan again.

”Today, I’m telling you, Aunt Tian married me a year after your mother passed away, she’s not a mistress, and your sister is not illegitimate, she is...”

”What is she?”

Xiao Yuan was aggressively pressing.

Xiao Hongyi looked very disappointed: ”Forget it, what’s the use of telling you this, you won’t listen anyway.”

He walked out, angry and dejected: ”If I had known it would come to this, I would have...”

Whatever he said next, Xiao Yuan couldn’t hear anymore.

Zhang Ke was standing downstairs, seeing Xiao Hongyi coming down, he knew from his expression that he hadn’t reached an agreement with Xiao Yuan.

Zhang Ke was quite upset.

But still, he approached with a smile: ”Um, Xiao Yuan didn’t tell you about the parent-teacher meeting tomorrow, did he?”

Xiao Hongyi shook his head: ”No.”

”Parent-teacher meeting tomorrow at eight, remember that.”
