Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 370: Chapter 237: Autumn Thanksgiving (4k)

League Year 198, September 29th, the second last day of autumn.

The footsteps of time have already reached deep autumn, with the grass in the pastures gradually yellowing and withering, and even the leaves of the trees in the Berry Garden falling gently, laying a thick layer on the ground.

This morning, Naoki went out to check on the condition of the farm.

The season is about to change, and the cold winter is coming. Before the snow season arrives, they must make preparations in advance.

Walking through the pastures, a chilly breeze would occasionally sweep by.

Some Pokemon without fur shivered from the cold wind, then continued to play on the grass.

On the other hand, some furry Pokemon were completely unfazed. With winter approaching, they are growing a thick coat to keep warm.

Naoki walked along, watching the Pokemon frolic back and forth in front of and behind him, shaking his head helplessly but letting them be.

”Now the temperature has already dropped to fifteen degrees. According to the weather forecast, a cold front will arrive in the Paldea Region next month, and the temperature will likely drop further.” Naoki silently thought about what needs to be done.

By the end of October, November, snow will begin to fall, and the snow season will last for two months. It’s said that during this time, Ice Type Pokemon will become more active on this land.

A few days ago, he and a group of Pokemon harvested the last batch of crops from the fields and stored them in the cellar.

The cold winter isn’t suitable for crop growth. Although there is winter wheat that is cold-resistant, Naoki has other plans this winter, so he does not intend to plant it.

Besides that, there’s the issue of the Pokemon on the farm getting through the winter.

The Miltank live in the Pokemon House, which Naoki has equipped with air conditioning, and with Pawmot there, running it all day poses no problem.

The Gogoat have thick wool naturally suited to winter environments, but if they still feel cold, they can stay with Miltank.

Then there are the Naclstack and Diglett living in the Underground Cave; there is some distance from the ground, so the temperature isn’t too cold.

As for the Glaceon, there’s no need to mention it—an Ice Type Pokemon wouldn’t be an Ice Type if it feared the cold.

As for Koraidon, Cyclizar, Pawmot, Indeedee and such, they all live in the house with him.

The wild Pokemon he rescued also live in specially made cabins, so he doesn’t need to worry about them being sheltered from the cold.

The only ones he needs to inquire about are the clueless Psyduck living across the river.

Naoki found them, ate a few pieces of Translation Nuts Cake, and asked, ”Winter is coming, and it’s going to be very cold outside. Do you want to come live on the farm with me?”

Upon hearing this, the Psyduck tilted their heads, then hopped a few times on the ground with a dazed look in their eyes: ”Quack, quack?” (Winter?)

Naoki: ”... There will be snowfall, and the whole world will be covered in snow. The river will freeze, so you won’t be able to swim in it.”

This time, the Psyduck understood.

One Psyduck suddenly brightened and happily jumped twice: ”Quack, quack!” (Psyduck isn’t afraid of the cold!)

Another Psyduck touched its cheek and said: ”Quack, quack!” (Ducks have feathers!)

Naoki: ”...”

He thought about it carefully and realized they were right.

The Water Type Psyduck naturally has a resilience to Ice Types.

In that case, he’ll give each Psyduck a scarf as a winter accessory.

”See you later then!”

Naoki waved to the Psyduck and turned to the beehive. He called over the strong Koraidon to help move it to the newly built Glass Greenhouse.

He had already transplanted many flowers there, and with the honey bought in advance, the Combee could safely spend the winter.

While they were moving the beehive, the Combee followed closely behind.

Naoki and Koraidon placed the beehive in the Glass Greenhouse and said to the Combee in front of them:

”The weather is getting colder and the flowers outside have all withered. From today onwards, you can live here until next spring.”

”Buzz ~”

The Combee swayed gently, looking very pleased.

Seeing this, Naoki called over the flower-loving Butterfree to come live here as well.

After handling everything he could think of, Naoki returned to his room and sat at his desk, calculating this year’s revenue and expenses.

With the increasing number of Pokemon on the farm, household expenses have also grown.

In addition to the money spent on building various facilities and buying furniture earlier, his family’s savings now amounted to six hundred eighty thousand League Coins.

”Hmm, this number is about right...” Naoki mused over the accounts, forming plans for the future: ”In some time, I can ask Keri to build a multifunctional greenhouse.”

By then, he won’t be limited by the seasons and can plant any crops anytime he wants. Coupled with Gogoat’s plant cultivation abilities, maybe they could develop more vegetables and fruits with magical properties.

”But there’s no rush. It won’t be too late to build it next spring,” Naoki thought to himself.
