Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 98: Chapter 79: Flying Disc Game

The Everstone, a magical stone that can help Pokemon suppress their evolution energy. While they’re holding it, they won’t evolve.

Although its effect seems a bit lackluster, for some specific Pokemon, it might be an essential item!

At the moment, it has no use for him.

Naoki turned back to the house and casually placed the Everstone into a drawer.

Then he went outside again, looking in the direction of the back mountain.

He’s curious about what kind of experiences Teddiursa will encounter after eating the Lucky Pudding, and what rare items it might find.

The answer to this awaits the next time Teddiursa comes back to trade honey.

Naoki began to look forward to it.

At this moment, Koraidon came up to Naoki holding a Flying Disc bought from the town, wagging its tail happily.

”Argh!”

At 3:38 PM, Naoki started playing the Flying Disc game on the ranch with Koraidon, Cyclizar, Dragonite, and other Pokemon.

Naoki threw the disc out, then several Pokemon took turns to catch and fetch it back.

The three Pokemon lined up to play, as if they had reached some kind of agreement, very tacitly not using their moves.

The disc flew overhead, and they began to run and chase on the grass, catching it before it hit the ground.

If one didn’t catch it, it would be the next Pokemon’s turn to play.

At first, they were in sync.

Until Dragonite, while watching the disc about to land, instinctively used Extreme Speed.

Seeing Dragonite cheat by using Extreme Speed, Koraidon immediately let out a dissatisfied cry, ”Argh!”

So, not to be outdone, it used its own powerful energy.

A flash of light, and Koraidon transformed from its racing form to its battle form, eyeing the flying disc. Its muscular legs exerted force, launching its strong body high to hit the disc with its descent speed and body weight.

Moments later, Koraidon’s mouth accurately bit the disc, landing steadily on the ground.

It looked back at Naoki but found him daydreaming.

Naoki was indeed distracted.

He was pondering the description and effect of the Lucky Pudding.

To be honest, today’s cooking effect really exceeded his expectations.

It also made him realize something: the cooking effect might be related to the cook’s mood.

Pouring love into cooking, making it with emotion, could bring out unexpected effects.

Even without using Black Truffle for enhancement, the dish achieved an A level.

Doesn’t that say something?

Naoki lowered his head, lost in thought.

At this moment, Koraidon handed him the disc.

Naoki extended his hand to take it, and almost unconsciously threw the disc again.

Once again, Koraidon dashed out.

This time, Naoki finally noticed how Koraidon caught the disc.

It was using Collision Course to catch it!

Naoki: ???

No way, right?

”Argh!”

Koraidon proudly brought the disc back and handed it to Naoki.

Next to him, Dragonite’s fighting spirit was ignited, its aura surging, Extreme Speed was poised to go.

Seeing this scene, Naoki twitched his mouth corners.

The two Pokemon started to compete, each unleashing their own Divine Power.

Even the passing Alcremie, accompanied by five Nacli, stopped to watch.

When it stopped, the five Nacli didn’t react in time, bumping into the companions in front one by one.

Nearby, Cyclizar pitifully watched Koraidon and Dragonite on the field, looking weak and helpless.

”Gao...”

It really wanted to play too...

Noticing Cyclizar’s expression, Naoki turned to look at Koraidon and Dragonite, and with his arm slightly sore from repeatedly throwing the disc.

So he mercilessly ended the game for the two cheaters and turned to leave with the neglected Cyclizar.

Left behind were Koraidon and Dragonite, watching their retreating backs with big eyes.

”Aw...” (Is Naoki angry?)

”Argh...” (I don’t know either.)

”Aw...”

Dragonite’s face was full of worry.

Koraidon was also worried, but soon, it thought of something and was the first to follow.

Upon entering the room, they found Naoki sticking close to Cyclizar, personally feeding it delicious food as a way to console it.

Koraidon called out loudly, ”Argh!”

Upon hearing the sound, Naoki turned to glance.

Koraidon immediately lowered its voice, its momentum weakened, it ran forward in a flattering manner.

”Argh...”

”No cute acts allowed!”

Naoki reached out to push Koraidon’s face aside, feeling a laugh inside, yet keeping a serious face, he asked Koraidon and Dragonite:

”Do you remember the rules we set?”

No using moves or flying, only catching the disc through normal running.

This way, it’s relatively fair for Cyclizar, Koraidon, and Dragonite.

Koraidon and Dragonite stood in line, lowering their heads like children who had made a mistake.

”Argh...”

”Aw...”

As a qualified head of the family, ensuring fairness is key.

Looking at the two Pokemon who knew their mistake and corrected it, Naoki nodded with satisfaction, and then earnestly said:

”Cyclizar is still young, not even a year old yet. Whether it’s strength or speed, it can’t compare to you two. It also wants to play Flying Disc, but you used moves, breaking the game rules, leaving Cyclizar to watch you play.”

”Gao...”

Facing Dragonite and Koraidon in front, Cyclizar couldn’t help but feel the urge to become stronger.

If it could be as powerful as Koraidon, it could join the game too and play together, it could even fly Naoki in the sky, helping him with more work.

Seeing the two Pokemon understood, Naoki sat on a chair, waving at them: ”I’m a bit tired and can’t join you guys anymore. I’ll watch some TV; you can play outside yourselves!”

Dragonite glanced at Naoki a few times, seeing he wasn’t really angry, then ran outside to play with relief.

While Koraidon stayed behind, lying on the wooden floor, lying by Naoki’s side with Cyclizar, accompanying him to watch TV.

Today’s TV program was replaying the earlier afternoon news, reporting on a recent avalanche on Glaseado Mountain, affecting the nearby Pokemon ecology.

An adventure team went to investigate and finally found the culprit that caused the avalanche - a powerful wild Baxcalibur.

”Baxcalibur? I think that’s a Pseudo-legendary Pokemon from the Paldea Region,” Naoki thought.

Compared to the cute Dragonite, Baxcalibur indeed has a lower charm factor.

As he watched, Naoki started to feel sleepy, yawning, and lay down on the rocking chair, slowly closing his eyes, getting ready for a nap.

The news on the TV continued to play.

The content switched from the ”Glaseado Mountain Avalanche Incident” to ”Mysterious Phenomena in the Paldea Region: Pokemon Terastalization.”

On the screen, the host was introducing the story of the researchers of the Tera phenomena and the inventors of the Tera Orb, Professor Sada and Professor Turo.
