Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 58: Chapter 48: Skiddo’s Explosive Debut

Compared to the Salt House and Chicken House, building the sheep pen was much simpler.

Since Skiddo are very smart Pokemon and know what to eat and what not to eat, there’s no need to pen them up like ordinary cattle and sheep.

Therefore, the sheep pen was designed with a semi-open structure, specifically leaving an entrance without a door for the Skiddo to go in and out.

Inside the fence, an open rain shelter was built.

The shelter is very spacious, and it could accommodate another three Skiddo aside from the current three.

Inside the shelter, there are feed troughs and water troughs, with a thick layer of straw on the floor. When it rains, the Skiddo can enjoy eating Grassy Seed while watching the rain.

Soon, the construction of the sheep pen was completed. Keri put away her tools, stood up, and said, ”It’s done! Are you satisfied? If not, I can help you rebuild it.”

”It’s fine, looks pretty good.” Naoki nodded and turned to the three observing Skiddo beside him, ”What do you think?”

”Baa~”

The Skiddo seemed quite pleased too.

Compared to the open and exposed wilderness, this semi-enclosed shelter and fence give them a strong sense of security.

No need to worry about being attacked from all sides by other Pokemon like in the wild.

The three of them bleated happily as they walked forward, took a round under the shelter, and finally lay down on the straw, looking very content.

Keri walked over to Naoki, smiling, and said, ”It seems they are pretty satisfied with their new home.”

”Indeed,” Naoki nodded in agreement.

No matter what Pokemon, they more or less have some sense of territory. Unless they are very familiar, they rarely enter other Pokemon’s territories.

Keri pointed to the patch of grass in the sheep pen and said, ”When the Skiddo finish eating this grass, you can buy some pasture seeds from the town. Just scatter them in the soil, and they’ll grow even without watering.”

The construction work ended, and Keri left the ranch with her team.

Naoki took some cooled Grassy Seed from the house and poured it into the Skiddo’s feed trough for dinner, then filled up the water trough beside it.

After doing this, he found Nacli and took them to their new home.

Inside the Salt House, Naoki smiled at the five Nacli and said, ”How is it? This is where you’ll live. Are you satisfied?”

”Nacl~”

Just like the Skiddo, the Nacli were also very pleased with their new home.

They swarmed into the room, curiously wandering around to get familiar with the environment.

Just then, hearing about the Nacli’s new home, Alcremie, who was playing outside, hurriedly brought Smoliv to celebrate.

Over time, the Nacli were no longer afraid of Alcremie; they even seemed to have become good friends.

Naoki referred to this relationship as the ”Caramel Cream and Rock Salt Friendship.”

Needless to say, the taste of the new cream made by blending the two was quite nice, reminiscent of a cheese rock salt Assam milk tea.

”You all play here, I’m going to see if Dragonite is back.”

”Nacl~”

The group of Pokemon nodded their heads.

Seeing this, Naoki smiled slightly and turned to head outside.

He saw that Koraidon was waiting for him outside and asked, ”Has Dragonite returned?”

”Raaaaa.” Koraidon shook its head.

”Not back yet?” Naoki said while walking forward, looking towards the town.

As he passed the sheep pen, he suddenly noticed the three Skiddo lazily lying on the straw, their bellies all round and full.

Naoki: ”?”

He instinctively looked towards the feed trough and sure enough, saw that all the Grassy Seed inside had been eaten.

Naoki: ”...Hey! That wasn’t meant to be eaten as a snack!”

Upon hearing Naoki’s tone, the three Skiddo thought they had done something wrong and their Growl became timid.

”Aw, baa...”

Naoki: ”...”

Forget it, just let them eat! It’s just a few Grassy Seeds, he can afford it.

”It’s okay, go ahead and eat! More food is a blessing!” Naoki instead comforted the three Skiddo.

Next, he planned to head back home to try out a new recipe.

But before he could turn around, one of the Skiddo suddenly erupted in a burst of green light.

The light radiated from its body into the ground, and soon the surrounding area lit up with vibrant green glimmers of life.

In the light, countless blades of grass shimmered and swayed gently, displaying robust vitality.

A big question mark appeared over Naoki’s head.

”?”

Is that... a Grassy Terrain?

Grassy Terrain: A Grass Type Move, which turns the surroundings into a grassy field for a short time. Pokemon on it will regain health, and Grass Type Moves’ power will increase.

So, the Skiddo has grasped Grassy Terrain?

Naoki was initially surprised, but considering the three Skiddo had just eaten dozens of Grassy Seeds, it wasn’t so shocking after all.

Because that’s the effect of Grassy Seed.

Learning Grassy Terrain in a day—if they keep eating for another ten years, Naoki could hardly imagine what moves they might learn!

After all, Grass Type Moves aren’t just limited to Vine Whip, Razor Leaf, Seed Flare, and the like.

There are also Frenzy Plant, Grassy Glide, Seed Flare... the list goes on.
