Chapter 89: Chapter 73: Teddiursa’s Secret (Extra)

However, ten Miltank need two hundred thousand League Coins, far beyond what he can afford now.

The more Pokemon there are, the more they eat, and the higher the expenses.

Large Pokemon like Koraidon, Cyclizar, and Dragonite can consume thousands of League Coins from Trainers in a day. They need enough nutrition to maintain their strong bodies, having a huge appetite.

So many Pokemon are not something that ordinary people can afford to breed.

Commonly known as ”earning more, spending more.”

The Miltanks are similar, Berries, and premium pastures, these are a significant cost.

Excluding daily expenses, just relying on the production capacity of Skiddo and Nacli, it will take a long time to save enough.

Unless Skiddo can evolve into Gogoat, and Nacli can evolve into Garganacl.

After evolution, their production capacity will also greatly improve.

But it will be a long time before Nacli can evolve, remembering what Miss Joy said that day, Naoki turned and left the Pokemon House, coming to the sheep pen.

The Skiddos were leisurely lying on the grass eating Grassy Seed.

Seeing Naoki come over, the three Skiddos all looked this way.

”Baa~”

Naoki: ”...”

The Skiddos are still accumulating energy, for the time being, there are no signs of evolution at all.

Naoki continued to ponder.

Soon, he thought of perhaps a better way than having Nacli and Skiddo evolve.

That is to buy one by one, and then use the money earned from the Miltank’s milk to buy the next Miltank, and so on, soon he can gather ten.

But now he only has more than ten thousand in his hand, and he has to wait for another day or two to buy a Miltank.

By this time, the Skiddos were about to start their disco dance again.

Watching the Grassy Terrain they summoned, Naoki suddenly thought of something.

Which is that Grass Type Pokemon can also use Grass Type Energy to help take care of crops.

The anime has shown many times that even some Grass Type Pokemon can make plants grow quickly.

Thinking of this, Naoki quickly called Skiddo to stop and brought them to the nearby farmland.

After explaining to them how to take care of crops, the three Skiddos each went to a corner of the farmland, then used Grassy Terrain.

Green light burst from the Skiddos, quickly covering the entire farmland.

Each blade of grass materialized by Grass Type Energy blended into the vigorously growing crops, gently swaying.

Naoki focused his attention, staring at the crops in the field, wanting to see if they were growing rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.

However, after watching for a long time, those crops had not changed at all.

”Huh? Doesn’t it work?”

It is well known that crop growth requires six factors: sunlight, water, soil, fertilizer, oxygen, and temperature.

Sunlight is available now, Dragonite just made it rain, he previously fertilized the field, the temperature is pleasant, the soil is not bad, and the oxygen is sufficient.

The only possibility is that Skiddo’s power is insufficient, or that Grassy Terrain’s effect is not significant.

Other than that, Naoki couldn’t think of any reason.

”It would be great if there were Tapu Bulu.” He murmured.

Or he could create a new dish that would give Pokemon that consume it the ability to help crops grow quickly.

Naoki waved his hand, letting Skiddo stop and go play.

He then turned and went to the storage room behind the house, rummaging through boxes to find shears for trimming the lawn, and began tidying the lawn in front of his house.

In spring, wild grass grows rapidly, and it looks messy if not pruned for a few days.

As Naoki trimmed the lawn, Alcremie and Smoliv ran around him, chasing and playing with several Nacli.

Not far away on the grass, Dragonite was consulting with Koraidon on new move techniques.

With Naoki around, Cyclizar didn’t have to watch over the farm and reverted to being the innocent Cyclizar.

It was attracted by the fluttering butterflies and chased them to the open space in front of the Chicken House.

Pawmi looked at Cyclizar by the river, shaking its ears.

The diligent Combees shuttled between the hive and the wild, continuously collecting nectar.

Butterfree perched atop the roof, basking in the sun while observing the scene below.

The spring sunlight was warm and pleasant, and everything seemed so wonderful.

Meanwhile, outside the fence surrounding the ranch.

A Pokemon with light brown fur all over its body, a crescent-shaped white pattern on its forehead, and a small brown spherical tail was quietly hiding behind a tree, watching the scene in the ranch.

Its eyes closely followed the Combee, watching it transport nectar back to the ”hive” and then leaving the ”hive” to collect nectar farther away.

Once it was gone, Teddiursa finally shifted its gaze to the other Pokemon within the ranch.

A human’s home, Teddiursa thought.

A few days ago, in the forest, it spotted a Combee.

As a Teddiursa, it is naturally attracted to honey, and to find honey, it chose to track the Combee.

However, the terrain in the forest is complex, and Combee can fly, causing it to occasionally lose its target.

After several days of searching, it finally found the Combee’s hive.

Sweet honey appeared in its mind, and Teddiursa couldn’t help but swallow.

It wanted to rush in immediately to steal the Combee’s honey and lick it clean, but its Pokemon instincts told it that doing so would be expelled by the human.

So, what better method is there?

Teddiursa thought for a moment, showing a sly smile.

It had rich experience with such things.

And with this experience, it had ”seized” a large amount of honey from humans several times.

Teddiursa thought of a good idea.

Now, just waiting for the opportune moment!

————

In the afternoon, just as Naoki was at home holding Pawmi and watching TV, he suddenly heard the voice of Allen, the town’s mail carrier.

He went out to check and saw Allen taking a letter out of his bag: ”Mr. Naoki, you have mail!”

”Huh? Who sent it?” Naoki was a bit surprised.

Allen grinned and said, ”It was entrusted to me by Mr. Matsuda from Sanshui Ranch to give to you.”

Matsuda...

In Naoki’s mind appeared the image of a small, white-haired old man who had once exchanged cheese for Boiled Pork Slices with him at the Sakura Blossom Wine Party.

What could Matsuda be looking for?

Full of doubts, Naoki opened the envelope and saw the writing inside:

[To Naoki:

Hello, Naoki, I’m Matsuda from Sanshui Ranch. Have you encountered a Teddiursa recently? If so, just disregard this. However, if not, I think I should warn you.

Don’t be fooled by that Teddiursa’s cute and charming appearance! It purposefully appears in the ranch and then takes advantage to steal all the honey when no one is looking!

Many nearby ranches have suffered from its hands, that Teddiursa is simply a huge menace! It’s still lurking nearby, so be careful!

——by Sanshui Ranch, Matsuda.]
