Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 84: Chapter 68: Television

”I’m planning to first repair the Pokemon House and start raising Miltank,” Naoki said.

He paused and then asked, ”Do you have any other Pokemon facilities here?”

”Of course.” Keri nodded with a smile, turning around and heading towards the room, ”Follow me! The carpentry shop recently got a batch of construction materials, now we can build a greenhouse!”

Naoki followed, ”Greenhouse?”

Keri explained, ”Yeah, it’s kind of like an Eco Garden where the temperature can be freely adjusted? But a greenhouse is used for planting crops, maintaining a warm environment throughout the year, allowing you to grow crops from other seasons.”

As she spoke, the two entered the room.

Keri pulled out a list from the counter and showed it to Naoki.

It contained a variety of facilities that could be constructed.

Greenhouse, Pokemon House, pasture, sheepfold, fish pond...

Apart from these, the carpentry shop also sells some furniture and ranch tools.

Such as basic wooden tables and chairs, lazy sofas, fireplaces, scarecrows, crab cages, glass fish tanks, chandeliers, tall lamps, wardrobes, storage cabinets, double beds, etc.

Naoki felt a surge of excitement; he wanted to buy everything at once, but his funding was insufficient.

Just building the Pokemon House would cost fifty thousand League coins, and he had barely saved up to one hundred twenty thousand over time; building the Pokemon House alone would use up half.

As for the price of the greenhouse...

Naoki glanced at it and exclaimed, wow, a whole two hundred fifty thousand!

Seeing his expression, Keri explained with slight helplessness:

”Because the materials are different! Pokemon House is built with ordinary wood and stone, while the greenhouse uses special materials, equipped with temperature adjustment functions that can simulate the environment of all seasons.”

”Alright.” Upon hearing the explanation, Naoki couldn’t help but sigh.

There’s a long way to go!

”Then let’s just build a Pokemon House for now,” he said.

Keri smiled and nodded, ”No problem.”

After paying, Keri stated the construction team would start building tomorrow morning.

Naoki nodded and left the carpentry shop, returning to Porto Marinada Town.

His current destination was the department store in town.

Though it’s called a building, it actually only has five floors, not nearly as big as Silph Co. in the Johto Region.

But despite its small size, it has almost everything that can be sold in town.

The first floor is a clothing store, offering suitable clothes for people of all ages and sizes.

The second floor sells Trainer supplies, mainly Space Backpacks, sleeping bags, camping tools, a variety of different Poke Balls, etc.

Naoki bought his Space Backpack here.

The third floor is the electronics section, which is Naoki’s destination.

Here, the assortment of electronics is varied: toilets, washing machines, color TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators, hair dryers, electric rice cookers...

Naoki planned to purchase an air conditioner, TV, and refrigerator in one go.

He went forward to check the prices; TVs range from 7000 League coins to 100,000.

The cheapest refrigerator costs fifty thousand, and the most expensive is two hundred thousand.

Naoki really wanted to buy the best ones but alas, his wallet was tight, forcing him to select ones within his budget.

TV - 9,000, Refrigerator - 53,000.

The cheapest air conditioner is thirty thousand, but after purchasing the TV and refrigerator, his funds were running low, and he needed the rest for living expenses.

”Forget it, there’s more than a month until summer, the weather isn’t hot, so there’s no rush for an air conditioner,” Naoki thought.

With a little thought, he called for a staff member to help load the goods, the store provides home delivery services which save him some effort.

After paying, his card’s balance only had 8,000 League coins left, barely enough.

However, Naoki wasn’t worried because, in two days, he could harvest a batch of Rock Salt and sheep milk, and then he’d have money again.

Back at the ranch, the department store also happened to have delivered the TV and refrigerator.

At this time, TVs were still quite outdated; they were old-fashioned rear-projection TVs, with small screens and somewhat bulky.

The refrigerator is a double-door one, with the upper part for preserving eggs, vegetables, fresh milk, juice, etc., while the lower part is the freezing compartment to keep purchased pork chops frozen for a long time.

Naoki directed Machamp, who was delivering the items, to place the refrigerator beside the cabinet, then moved the video phone to the desk and placed the TV at the foot of the bed.

Alcremie, who was playing outside, heard the commotion and immediately ran curiously to watch.

It looked up at the large refrigerator in front of it and asked, ”Maa maa!”

Naoki took the eggs, Berries, and sheep milk from the storage cabinet and placed them in the refrigerator, then replied:

”This is a refrigerator, used for storing food, for example, if you put your cream inside, it’ll be preserved for a long time without spoiling, and it can help make frozen cream cheese cake.”

”Maa maa!”

Alcremie was immediately attracted, circling the refrigerator to inspect it.

Naoki, meanwhile, approached the TV and began adjusting the programs inside.

The installer had just said that to watch programs worldwide, an annual program fee of 3,000 League coins is needed.

At 3,000 a year, the price is quite cheap, Naoki had no objections.

Because this world hasn’t developed to the internet era, it still uses this charging method.

”It’s really backward...”

Naoki couldn’t help but complain as he wasn’t sure how to evaluate the technology here.

Call it advanced, yet the TV retains the style of the 1990s; call it backward, and he’ll whip out technologies like the Time Machine and Space Backpack.

However, according to the setting, the Time Machine was developed by Professor Sada and Professor Turo through the special environment deep within the Paldea Giant Pit.

This means outside of there, the Time Machine can’t be used or created.

”Koraidon, Miraidon, Terapagos... I wonder what the relationship between these Legendary Pokemon is.”

Every time he thinks about it, Naoki can’t help but sigh; he crossed over at the wrong time! He hadn’t played the Scarlet and Violet DLC!

He silently sighed, turning on the TV, the screen first showed snowy static, then a program appeared.

It seemed to be a cooking show, with a chef wearing a chef’s hat and outfit, making a dish on-screen.

Naoki watched for a while, the screen wasn’t very clear, but it was reasonably watchable.

He picked up the remote and switched channels, seeing several other programs.

Weather forecasts, dramas and movies, commercials promoting MooMoo Milk, news broadcasts, and even programs outside the Paldea Region—Professor Oak’s Pokemon lecture.

Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar face on the screen, it’s hard not to feel: Professor Oak is indeed famous!

Naoki was very satisfied.

Now that he has a TV, he can learn about what’s happening in other regions of this world.
