Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 76: Chapter 62: Combee and Honey

Every evening, the door of the Chicken House is closed, yet the ”thief” is still able to get inside without damaging any glass or items around.

This shows that the ”thief” can open the door and even takes care to close it upon leaving to avoid drawing attention.

However, they made a minor mistake, forgetting that the weather would leave footprints on the floor.

From the dryness of the footprints, it’s clear that the thief committed the act in the early hours of the morning.

So, there’s only one truth!

Naoki sniffed, preparing to set up a trap as soon as he returned from town.

After pouring the chicken feed into the trough, Naoki went to check the silo and found there wasn’t much feed left, so he planned to buy some more from town later.

At this moment, Dragonite flew down carrying a small red pouch, landing in front of Naoki.

Seeing the money Dragonite handed over, Naoki’s face was full of surprise: ”Huh, delivered the milk already?”

”Awoo!” Dragonite nodded.

Naoki was even more surprised: ”How come it’s so fast today?”

Hearing this, Dragonite was also a bit confused.

On its way to town earlier, it felt very guilty knowing Naoki fell sick from helping it practice moves.

Dragonite flew with all its might to deliver the milk quickly and return to the ranch to visit Naoki.

And that’s how it turned out this way.

Thinking of this, Dragonite felt a realization dawn upon it.

”Awoo!”

A new move!

Its practice on the milk delivery route had finally shown initial results!

To show Naoki, Dragonite focused deeply, and a faint blue glow appeared in its eyes.

Immediately, it felt its body become much lighter, and its flying speed seemed to increase.

”Agility?” Naoki was a bit surprised.

Though surprised, seeing Dragonite master another move, Naoki genuinely felt happy for it.

With moves like Extreme Speed, Thunder Punch, Agility, and the yet-to-be-learned Rain Dance and Thunderbolt, Dragonite’s move set kept growing.

But now, Naoki really needed to visit the hospital.

With Dragonite present, following the principle of proximity, Naoki asked it to take him to town.

Dragonite readily agreed.

Naoki told Koraidon and Cyclizar, then rode on Dragonite to Porto Marinada Town.

Leaving Koraidon and Cyclizar on the ranch watching the figures of the person and dragon gradually disappearing into the sky.

”Gaa-sii...”

”Gaa-ao.”

————

Although Porto Marinada Town is not as large as Mesagoza and Levincia City, its infrastructure is quite complete.

Hospital, market, town government, department store, bank, and various other shops.

Of course, the hospital and Pokemon Center are not the same place; one treats humans, while the other serves Trainers and Pokemon.

The process of visiting the hospital wasn’t much different from in the past life, and after a series of examinations, it was determined to be a cold and fever caused by a chill.

After getting the medication, Naoki went to Happy Ranch.

Upon hearing his intent, the old man went to the warehouse to get some feed.

While Naoki and Dragonite stood at the counter waiting.

Dragonite looked around idly, while Naoki’s gaze fell on the list of animals/Pokemon on the counter.

Ordinary Animals: Rooster 600, Hen 800, Duck 800

Pokemon: Combee 2500, Smoliv 2500, Alcremie 2600, Noibat 3000, Wooloo 10000, Miltank 20000, Nacli 10000

Feed: Chicken Feed 50/portion, Cattle and Sheep Feed 100/portion, Sweet Feed 100/portion, Salty Feed 100/portion

Naoki did some quick mental calculations of the ranch’s funds.

Recently, Nacli and Skiddo have made him quite a bit of money, which is enough to buy a few more Pokemon.

The ranch already has Nacli, Alcremie, and Smoliv.

He’s not planning to expand the breeding scale for now since he’s too busy by himself, and it would be too competitive.

After attending the Sakura Blossom Wine Party, Naoki found that people in this world live a very slow and leisurely life, with no signs of urgency.

Moreover, making money isn’t tough here, and resources are ample, leading most people to only care about having enough money to spend.

Compared to them, Naoki felt he was becoming quite the overachiever.

So, the Pokemon already on the ranch were skipped.

So that leaves Combee, Noibat, Wooloo, and Miltank.

”Noibat can bring back berries from the wild, but I’ve already planted a lot of berry trees on the ranch, so it’s not that needed.”

”Wooloo can produce a lot of wool, which is great material for clothing and sells for a high price. Hmm, raising some is doable.”

”Miltank can produce MooMoo Milk, so having them would mean not needing to buy from the market, but the Pokemon House isn’t repaired yet...”

”Combee is rather good, as they don’t require building any foundational structures. Simply placing beehives on the grass will have them automatically build nests and produce honey.”

Moreover, many flowers are planted on the ranch, perfect for Combee to collect nectar and create different flavored honey.

For instance, tulip honey, rose honey, and so on.

This honey tastes wonderful and is often claimed by Teddiursa and Ursaring in the wild without any reservation.

Therefore, for now, the best fit for the ranch is Combee.

As Naoki had some money with him, he planned to bring a few back to the ranch.

At that moment, the old man returned from the warehouse with the feed.

Seeing Naoki looking at the list of Pokemon on the counter, he asked, ”Which Pokemon do you want to take back this time? But I have to tell you, the ranch’s Miltank are all gone.”

”Huh?” Naoki was puzzled: ”All gone?”

”Yes, they’re all sold out,” the old man sighed. ”In the Paldea Region, Miltank don’t naturally reside. The ones at the ranch were imported from the distant Johto Region.”

”But not long ago, there was trouble with the ship transporting Miltank. It seems to have encountered a storm at sea and lost contact with us. As you know, the sea is very intimidating. In the face of it, humans are so insignificant.”

This was true, no matter the world, yearly casualties due to tsunamis and sea storms were common.

Naoki sighed, wishing: ”I hope the people and Miltank on that ship return safely.”

”Indeed!” the old man nodded and then asked, ”Do you want any other Pokemon?”

Naoki replied, ”Combee.”
