Chapter 1468: Chapter 13: Deathmatch (Part 2)

”Defensive formation, numbers four, five, six, alternate cover, retreat!”

Facing an attack, Wood made a choice in an instant. The black [Judger] Mecha soared into the air, streaking like a meteor and heading towards his team.

As a former Army Major with extensive battlefield experience, Wood was inherently cautious. Even after undergoing brain modification to become a Transformed Soldier with hand speed reaching seventy moves per second, he had not become arrogant. He knew that confidence brings composure, while arrogance often leads to unnecessary peril.

Wood trusted his squad’s combat capabilities, but he did not want to take unnecessary risks.

This place was very close to the bandit army armored company down the mountain. If they couldn’t disengage quickly, his squad would be surrounded by the enemy in a matter of minutes. Knowing oneself and the enemy ensures victory in every battle. Facing the enemy with inferior troops without knowing their combat strength would undoubtedly be a foolish decision.

Judger had twice fallen to the bandit army, which was both infuriating and an alert!

Moreover, Judger’s combat approach did not rely on brute force in direct melees.

As the Western Alliance’s most advanced army force, in conditions with sufficient support, sneaking through the opponent, moving across the battlefield to find opportunities to destroy the enemy’s command center, targeting their most crucial facilities and bases, raiding their logistics troops, creating chaos and panic, obscuring battlefield intelligence, and intercepting enemy reinforcements... these are the tasks of a Judger squad.

A Judger squad roaming in the dark, perhaps using terrain and time, could defeat an entire armored division bit by bit. However, if faced directly against an entire armored division without equal troop support, it would be akin to seeking death.

There wasn’t an entire armored division here, but there was a bandit army armored company with unknown combat power.

More importantly, Wood sensed a dangerous aura from these black Mechas surrounding him, which he had never encountered before.

Being able to silently and covertly approach within two hundred meters of his squad and surround them from all sides proved these were not ordinary beings.

Wood’s order to retreat might have been difficult for the team members to accept. The Judger squad did not retreat instantly.

Nine Judger Mech Knights, while effortlessly dodging the opponent’s Energy Cannon, withdrew their formation and counterattacked with long-range firepower. The radar of the automatic fire control system quickly moved to lock on targets. Energy bullets and rapidly darting missiles shot through the jungle. The violent explosions instantly transformed the tranquil forest into a hell of flying mud and broken trees.

”Retreat!” Wood, piloting his Mecha, soared to the rear of the team, leading the way.

Although his teammates’ slow reactions annoyed him, it was not the time for blame. He understood the arrogance of his team, and truthfully, deep down, he too had the impulse to measure against any opponent.

Seeing Wood retreat, the team members could only follow reluctantly but closely.

”Who are these guys?” In the communication channel, number four, in charge of the rear guard, asked disdainfully while activating the Mecha’s full firepower, the wildly rotating Energy Cannon drew three whip-like light chains through the jungle, wreaking havoc everywhere.

”There are bandits down the mountain!” Wood instantly locked onto three Devil Mechas, and the missile launcher emitted three sharp whistles as three missiles shot out with white trails, zigzagging through the trees towards their targets.

”Bandit army?!” The communication channel echoed with the team members’ astonished voices.

”Yes, they are here.” Wood flew swiftly, eyes fixed on the direction of the missile flight.

As the missiles approached at high speed, the three Devil Mechas racing through the jungle suddenly dodged. With aerial pivots or quick ground maneuvers, their distinctly different trajectories made them move like nimble phantoms in the forest!

When the missiles, missing their targets, exploded into three bright flames on the ground or tree trunks, the three Devil Mechas had returned to their original assault paths, moving in unison. This precise close-range strike didn’t slow their advance in the slightest.

”Go!” Wood shouted wildly. From this single evasive maneuver, he realized just how terrifying these suddenly appearing Devil Mechas were.

He could perform such maneuvers too, but that was when he used to be an Army Major with hand speed of forty-two moves per second, not now when he is the captain of the Judger squad with a Twelfth Generation Mecha after transformations!

Seeing the actions of the Devil Mechas, the team members this time did not hesitate again. Following Wood at the fastest speed, they dashed through the jungle. With maximum exertion, a frightening sense of danger was akin to a battering ram, repeatedly pounding their hearts, making their pulse accelerate and their skin shiver.

Since becoming Transformed Soldiers, they hadn’t felt such sensations in a long time—the icy chill stabbing their backs like needles, the pounding heartbeat, akin to finding old photographs from the bottom of a box, taking them back in time.

They weren’t afraid; they were shocked by the suddenness of everything ahead. The bandit army had arrived, and these previously unseen Devil Mechas possessed such astonishing power.
