Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1456: Chapter 9-5: Legend

Five hundred percent sure?

All the officers of the Leifeng Star Army present were dumbfounded with laughter. Whether Fatty could squeeze a bug into juice, they didn’t know, but this guy puffed up his cheeks and boasted outrageously, which they all witnessed.

”You don’t believe it, huh?” Hearing the laughter around him, Fatty glared, scanning the room fiercely, sneering repeatedly... finally pointing at Chen Fengxi: ”It’s enough if you believe it.”

Chen Fengxi smiled wryly. In hesitation, he suddenly noticed that the bandit army officers behind Fatty all wore natural and composed expressions. Especially several Leray Generals, who didn’t show any embarrassment or joke.

”Alright!” Chen Fengxi, ignoring Pierre’s surprised look, glanced at his watch and decisively said to Fatty: ”The 33rd Army needs at least seven hours to deploy to the flank of Frenso Town. And the enemy’s follow-up forces will likely arrive around that time. I’m now ordering the ground-based air force to set out, to delay the enemy’s movements. This time, I’m giving to you!”

Chen Fengxi paced quickly with his hands behind his back, then turned to Fatty: ”General Tian, war is not child’s play. If you can complete the encirclement and interception within the stipulated time, the 33rd Army will launch an attack from the flank to cooperate with you in combat. If there is any mistake, the 33rd Army will bypass to the east of Frenso Town to construct positions for an interception. We will not, and do not have a single soldier to support you! Any questions?”

”None!” Fatty solemnly replied.

He knew Chen Fengxi had given him the utmost trust. As an experienced, rigorous general, making such a decision upon the first meeting, without any direct understanding, weighs heavily on Chen Fengxi’s shoulders.

According to Pierre’s plan, the 33rd Army would directly construct positions for interception to the east of Frenso Town, needing only about ten hours. Following his own plan, he would first move directly towards Frenso Town, taking seven hours; if found wrong by then, bypassing the Western Alliance Army and diverting to the front to construct positions would need another seven hours, totaling fourteen hours.

Fourteen hours versus ten hours only differs by four hours. But at this moment, four hours could be fatal. This means the frontline forces currently resisting the enemy will suffer even more severe sacrifices, possibly total annihilation. It also means the 33rd Army will lose the opportunity to construct positions, fighting the enemy head-to-head with every blade and bullet.

What Chen Fengxi made might be the most foolish decision of his life!

”General Robert.” Fatty shouted.

”Present, sir.” The slender Robert strode forward and saluted.

Fatty looked at this former Leray Federation Army Admiral, the chief commander of the Army during the counterattack against Gazalin, now a Major General of the bandit army.

At fifty-four, Robert did not show the slightest sign of aging. In his prime, though not as physically strong as those in their twenties or thirties, his experience and thinking as a military strategist were at their peak. Now, standing before him, he showed no resentment, disappointment, or arrogance from his past position.

A nation, at some point, will possess a batch of elites supporting that nation. They are determined, talented, and broad-minded. Personal honor and disgrace never seemed worth mentioning in their eyes. Their vision extends further, their ideals soar higher.

Hamilton, Mihailovich, Bernadotte, Flavio, Snyder, including the present Robert, Fei Ouwen, Blatt, Chel, Zhou Zhisen, and many more... these people are this era’s most valuable assets of Leray. Without them, Leray could not have persevered to this point, and he himself would not have come this far either.

Fatty, while pointing on the electronic sand table, gave orders: ”General Robert, you and Stewart lead the bandit army’s Second Armored Division to quickly head sixty kilometers south of Frenso Town to the Bordeaux agricultural area. From the Chuckna 202 Armored Division and 1861 Mechanical Infantry’s position at North 130 defense line 323, attack and defeat the Jiepeng 1912 Armored Division in the west of the agricultural area, then quickly follow the highway north. Make sure to sever the enemy in Frenso’s connection with the rear within seven hours, and hold the line for forty-eight hours with Dorai River to the west of the town as the boundary.”

”Yes!” Robert did not protest, saluted, turned, and strode out of the command hall. Stewart did not follow; he must quickly communicate with Stewart and rush to the Second Armored Division.

”Carl, contact Rashid, the First Armored Division immediately prepares to depart, advance at full speed. Within four hours, head twenty kilometers east of Frenso Town to Half Cloud Ridge, setting up positions, engage the enemy immediately if encountered. Ensure they are confined west of Half Cloud Ridge. Also, order the directly subordinated Special Forces Camp to set out; I will head directly to Half Cloud Ridge to meet them.”

”Yes!” Carl saluted and left.

”General Pierre,” Fatty reached out to Pierre: ”I hope your troops can arrive in Frenso Town within seven hours and engage in battle. I guarantee, once you arrive, it will be an easy battle.”

Pierre showed a range of expressions on his face. He glanced at the silent Chen Fengxi, finally sighed softly, reached out and shook Fatty’s hand firmly: ”I’ll be watching you!”

Finished, he turned with a grave expression, and walked to the SkyNet communication station to issue orders.

”General Chen,” Fatty turned to Chen Fengxi, ”I have one last request.”

”Speak,” Chen Fengxi calmly replied.

”I need command authority over all the troops currently hindering the enemy.” Fatty bluntly stated.

”Alright! I’ll give it to you!” Chen Fengxi gritted his teeth, making a decisive move.

”Believe me, your trust will be rewarded!” Fatty smiled, reaching out not for a handshake, but for a clap.

Chen Fengxi looked at Fatty, after a long pause, smiled broadly, and clapped his palm firmly with Fatty’s: ”I believe!”

”Officer...” Suddenly, Isaac, who had been silent all this time, stepped forward and directly questioned Fatty: ”Why aren’t we going to battle? You know, we’re closer to Frenso Town than the 33rd Army.”

”I don’t need a unit that might disobey orders,” Fatty’s gaze swept over Isaac and Diana’s faces, then he gave Garfield a slight smile: ”This time, you’ll stay here and watch until you really want to integrate into this unit.”

After speaking, Fatty walked out of the command hall with Bonnie.

Isaac and Diana exchanged glances, feeling somewhat unnatural and disappointed. They inadvertently stole a look at Margaret, who remained in the command hall, but from Margaret’s calm face, they gained nothing.

Garfield silently sat down in a corner.

Tony joined Qian Bolin’s fleet. Now on this planet, only the three of them were left. This time, his two companions should realize that Fatty’s insight is not as dull as he appears. Although they hadn’t clashed directly with Fatty along the way, what they were thinking had already been seen through by Fatty!

Bandit army.

This completely unknown army in the eyes of common soldiers assembled and set off for the frontline within an hour of landing, causing an uproar.

Phoenix City, this large military camp, was as if a nuclear bomb had been dropped, and the shockwave of the news quickly spread around. Wherever it spread, groups of soldiers or officers were left speechless and dumbfounded.

Soon, with the news of Frenso Town’s fall and the complete annihilation of the 172nd Chuckna Division coming in, the intensity of the commotion increased.

One by one, the cyan Fatty Mechas sped along the highway in a marching column.

The Mecha line accelerated, and eventually, soldiers on either side of the road only felt as if a high-speed train was passing by at close range. Each section of the train passed in a flash to the distance before they could even see clearly.

What kind of unit is this?

Why is the command so eager to send this unit into battle, how dire is the frontline situation, and could it be that the rear can’t dispatch any forces?

What model are these Mechas, and among them, those black, terrifyingly sinister-looking Mechas, what model are they?

Why were two obscure armored divisions brought up, while the Feiyang Armored Forces preparing the Eleventh Generation Long Sword Mechas stayed put?

The sniper cleaning his beloved gun paused the optical cleaning cloth, the mechanic soldier repairing the Mechas halted the automatic repair arm, soldiers gathered drinking coffee or eating stood up, stunned and turned back, soldiers in combat training maintained their fighting posture blankly....everyone was bewildered in the rush of the Mecha column’s high-speed advance.

As the unit moved away, the warriors started to inquire about the news.

A variety of rumors circulated in the barracks, training grounds, field hospitals, and grassroots command posts.

Some said these guys were just a bunch of militiamen sent to the frontlines to experience it, so they wouldn’t wet their pants at critical moments. Others said the frontline situation was dire, and this unit was sent up to buy time for the following troops. Still, others claimed this was a legendary unit composed of countless Level 9 and Level 10 Mecha Warriors and even War Gods, sent up because in Frenso Town, the Western Alliance’s Judger Force was found, and only they could counter those terrifying Judger Mechas.

Of course, the last claim was the least credible among these warriors who had no chance to pay attention to the outside world.

Moreover, those who said this made it very clear.

It was just a legend.

Hell, are legends even real?
