Chapter 1459: Chapter 9-7: Now_2

”General, do you think if the Front Command knew our true mission isn’t to hold off the Western Alliance’s attack west of Frenso Town, but to push forward directly and make a large-scale flanking maneuver, they’d be surprised?” Stewart raised an eyebrow.

”To be honest,” Robert said, ”I’m surprised at General Tian’s appetite.”

He looked at the distant mountains, his hand subconsciously patting the railing of the Command Mecha platform, and remembered Fatty’s words on the communication screen half an hour ago, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

In fact, as early as seeing the combat situation map in the command hall, Fatty had already pinpointed the problem faced by the Fei Alliance Joint Army.

The western line of Phoenix City spans over two thousand kilometers. It’s impossible to have an entire row of indestructible fortifications, nor continuous trenches. To resist the Western Alliance’s attack, it’s only possible to rely on scattered units at the front line to contest each town, each strategic location. Using tug-of-war tactics, penetrating encirclement, rapid assaults, and on-site defense, they construct this complex and vast line of defense.

The foundation for such a defense line is solely one thing: military strength!

Currently, the Fei Alliance Joint Army has concentrated forces of fifty-seven divisions at the front line. Besides this, Chen Fengxi has only twenty divisions on hand when adding the miscellaneous divisions formed by temporarily gathering front-line scattered soldiers.

As for the opponent, merely Bellif’s Northern Cluster alone has nearly fifty divisions. The total military strength of the north and south battle zones is one and a half times that of the Fei Alliance Joint Army. More importantly, behind Bellif’s northern cluster and Antoniscu in the south, there is Rosenberg, the Bear of Army, with at least sixty divisions!

Therefore, when the Western Alliance suddenly launched an attack on Frenso Town using three armored divisions and a valuable Judger Company as a spearhead and opened a passage, one must not only be cautious of the Western Alliance breaking through here but be more worried about their heavy assaults on other defense lines. If Chen Fengxi pulls too many forces into Frenso Town, then should the Western Alliance suddenly launch a heavy attack on other front lines, he will have no troops available.

The Leifeng Star Army has always adopted frontal defense tactics. From the comparison of forces and the situation’s stance, this seems correct. But being correct does not mean victory. In reality, the Alliance forces are already stuck on a tiger’s back, with military strength continually consumed in this whirlpool. If this continues, the complete collapse of the Phoenix City western line is only a matter of time.

Therefore, it’s necessary to initiate a campaign to annihilate massive enemy forces and deliver a heavy blow to the Western Alliance.

Chen Fengxi thought Fatty deploying two armored divisions was merely to eat up three enemy divisions at Frenso Town, cripple one Judger Company, inflict pain on the Western Alliance, and retract their fist hidden behind. Unfortunately, he did not understand the combat strength of the Bandit Army’s First and Second Armored Divisions, nor did he grasp Fatty’s appetite.

If the task were merely to eat up three enemy armored divisions, the Bandit Army First Division could finish the battle before the enemy reinforcements arrive. Remember, Faset’s 31st Army is far superior in combat power. Whether in personnel quality or equipment, it far surpasses these three Western Alliance armored divisions. At that time, the Bandit Army would still have to restrain themselves, unable to strike severely. Here, there’s nothing to worry about.

Having these two divisions serve three ordinary Western Alliance armored divisions, to put it elegantly is shooting a sparrow with a pearl, boiling a chicken in a giant pot, crudely speaking, it’s Godzilla raping Pretty Sheep.

However, Fatty wants to undertake a big one but cannot say it openly. If said directly, it might scare Chen Fengxi and Pierre away. For these two commanders who have persistently held Resk, stability is more important than anything. They have carefully contemplated even the plan to encircle three armored divisions at Frenso Town, let alone operational plans several times larger.

Thus, Fatty used the attack on Frenso Town to transfer the 33rd Army, then seized the opportunity to take command of all forces near Frenso Town. He dragged the Leifeng Star Army into his plan. When the heavy forces hidden by the Western Alliance move, he will lead these troops directly into a deep penetration to cut off the enemy’s retreat route with a large-scale flanking maneuver!

Once the flanking maneuver succeeds, even if Chen Fengxi doesn’t want to fight, he has no choice. The meat delivered to his lips, he will not only eat but bite more fiercely than anyone!

”General Robert, the vanguard has contacted the Chuckna 202 Armored Division. Their division commander is inviting you over,” a report from a Combat Staff in the Command Mecha interrupted Robert’s contemplation.

”Let’s go.” Robert turned first, entered the cockpit.

The Command Mecha swiftly raced along the muddy mountain road, appearing in the temporary camp within the jungle and crisscrossing trenches, informing Robert that the 202 Division’s station had been reached ten minutes later.

Mecha stopped in front of a sprawling tree requiring five men to encircle, Robert and Stewart disembarked, surveying the surroundings.

The vanguard of the Bandit Army Second Armored Division had already stopped, assembling within the woodland. Sunlight piercing through the canopy’s gaps sprinkled mottled patterns in this primitive forest. A thin mist rose and coiled within the slanting beams of light. Fallen branches, leaves on the ground, and moss on the roots and rocks made this place seem damp and decaying.

Nearby, a trench wound its way deep into the forest. Camouflage nets hung on the tree trunks and several anti-detection interference devices arranged intermittently. Dozens of scarred Mecha, either crouched or standing, surrounded by heaps of empty ammunition boxes, energy boxes, or parts boxes.
