Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Shu Wei frowned. ”With this level of combat intensity, even Tier Two armor might not hold. The train is very likely to suffer large-scale damage.”

Yu Yue said firmly, ”The train is meant to protect people. If he were here, he definitely wouldn’t want He Jie and the others to die in front of the train.”

Shu Wei was stunned for a moment. ’Do you have some misunderstanding about him?’

...

He Jie’s Roar was like the horn of a final battle, and the remaining ten squads opened fire simultaneously.

The entire outpost battlefield became the cruellest meat grinder.

From this moment on, there was no pause, no rest, only endless war until one side completely collapsed.

The whistling of bullets and Roars continued from the grey light of dawn all the way to noon.

The sound of shells hitting the ground roared without end. The Armed Train, no longer holding back, emptied all its reserves, giving the Four Nations Alliance a grand and brutal lesson.

Today the sun still did not rise. A blood-red veil shrouded the entire battlefield, and then, under Xiong Er’s iron-blue expression, time quietly slipped into the afternoon as the sky gradually darkened.

The ground of the outpost battlefield had thickened by two layers. The Four Nations soldiers had already rioted twice, refusing to step onto the battlefield, but under the suppression of Xiong Er’s personal guards, they could only charge forward in despair to die.

The vanguard soldiers of the White Elephant and Stick Countries were already completely wiped out; only the White Rabble and the Chongying People remained, their total number barely twelve thousand.

In a single day, over eight thousand people were swallowed up on that narrow battlefield.

Among them, the number of dead Tier One Evolvers had reached a terrifying five hundred!

The vast majority were blown to pieces by shells falling from the sky while they were crammed into the narrow assault zone. But their deaths did indeed create value—during the last hour, almost no shells had fallen from the direction of the Armed Train.

No matter how many Evolvers he sent, that defensive line was like it had been welded shut. No matter how battered it was by bombardment, there was not the slightest sign of a breach.

Of the two Tier Two Evolvers sent on a stealth attack, one died on the spot; the remaining one refused to go up again no matter what.

Just as Xiong Er’s face, dark as the bottom of a pot, was about to merge with the surrounding night, his adjutant came running madly, wild joy on his face. ”Reinforcements from the Army Headquarters’ command post have arrived, and they brought heavy weapons!”

Only then did Xiong Er’s expression ease a little. He turned to go inspect them.

A moment later, looking at the scant shells and heavy weapons, he cast a vicious glare at the adjutant. ”This is the support you were talking about? This isn’t even enough for me to fire a single salvo!”

The adjutant said bitterly, ”Headquarters is still slaughtering the intruders over there, and Tan Junyue’s transport route has also been cut off. Getting this much support was already very difficult. But with the 155 howitzer, we can help break through the outpost’s defensive positions, especially since that Evolver who can repair Metal isn’t there.”

Xiong Er’s expression was gloomy. ”What’s really blocking us isn’t some bullshit fortifications, it’s that damned precise gun-type Tier Two Evolver. If we don’t take him out, even if it’s just him alone, we can forget about getting through before he runs out of bullets!”

The adjutant glanced at the distant battlefield, a flash of cruelty in his eyes, and lowered his voice. ”Why don’t we wear him down for another night? At dawn, we gather the Tier Three Evolvers for a concentrated charge. Even a God of War would have to be taken down!”

Xiong Er pondered for a moment. ”We’ll do it that way!”

The Four Nations soldiers, who had fought for an entire day, still didn’t get any rest. They only managed to hastily eat a bit of dry rations before returning to the icy camp. Every tent in the night was filled with low curses and weeping directed at Xiong Er. When they finished cursing and crying and were just about to rest, they were brutally driven back to the battlefield by the blocking detachments.

By the time they came back again, there were hardly any of them left. In an entire camp sector, only a few tents still showed signs of life.

At four-thirty in the morning, Xiong Er stood on a boulder, gazing at the bright Gunfire from the distant outpost.

The Tier Two Evolver beside him had a wary look in his eyes. ”Are you sure you can take him out? Ozawa was killed in a single exchange; his body was turned into mince!”

Xiong Er’s tone was calm and confident. ”As long as you can pin him down for three seconds, I’m absolutely certain I can kill him.”

Seeing that he was still somewhat doubtful, Xiong Er lowered his voice. ”The support arrived during the day. It includes a holy relic bestowed by Lord Baki. It will definitely take care of him!”

The Tier Two hesitated for a moment, then his figure vanished silently from the boulder.

The adjutant watched his departing back with some hesitation. ”General, that is still Lord Hasegawa after all.”

Xiong Er swept him with a cold glance. ”What then, you want to be the one to hold off that gun-type Evolver?”

The adjutant was instantly at a loss for words.

”Go execute the order!”

”Yes...”

Very soon, a violent surge of Energy erupted inside the outpost, and a sharp warning tone sounded, proving that the Tier Two had already restrained He Jie.

Xiong Er gazed calmly at the battlefield, icy light in his eyes. ”Farewell, warrior of the Empire.”

The adjutant had long been pacing back and forth in front of a row of artillery. Upon hearing that sharp sound, he trembled with excitement. After a brief hesitation, he suddenly swung his hand down.

In that instant, more than a dozen guns completed their transformation from slumber to Roar.

The flames spewing from the muzzles of the heavy 152mm howitzers were the thickest and most violent, like the breath of an enraged giant dragon, instantly illuminating the entire battlefield and the undulating terrain to the rear. The flames lasted for nearly a full second, rolling, swelling, and rising.

These dozen-odd simultaneous eruptions of fire formed a brief yet terrifying sunrise on the ground in the darkest moments before dawn.

After light came sound.

Roughly two seconds of deathly silence later—”Boom————!!!”

More than a dozen massive blasts stacked and crushed together into a continuous low-frequency Roar! Unlike thunder from the sky, this was a Roar from deep within the earth, laden with malice.
