Armed Train in the Apocalypse

In the room, accompanied by a faint metallic hum, a Chongying katana was sheathed. Its owner was a young man of about twenty, wearing a black moisture-wicking high-neck base layer, with a hooded tactical jacket over it, unzipped to the chest.

”As expected of the heir of the Wuming School; your swordsmanship progresses as swiftly as your evolution.”

A steady voice came from the inner room, where a middle-aged Chongying man with a small mustache knelt by the tea table, leisurely sipping tea.

The young man called Qianye didn’t care for the praise, his gaze fiery as he looked outside the window, ”Hopefully, this time there will be true masters from Donghuang.”

The mustachioed man sneered, ”We’ve swept through a three-hundred-kilometer radius, countless small and large forces, and haven’t seen a single true master. It seems Donghuang has fallen behind the times; the future belongs to us Chongying people, they no longer deserve this fertile land!”

”Those Korean fools were chased like dogs by a mere force of a few hundred, only proving their utmost incompetence, finding excuses just to make their failure sound better, nothing but cowardly choices.”

Qianye shook his head, ”Nomura, they do tend to boast, but no matter how worthless Kim Eunji might be, he is still a solid Tier Two Evolver. I have a feeling that this time, we will encounter true masters.”

The mustachioed man set down his teacup, stood up, and said with a faint arrogance, ”I hope so, my gun hasn’t tasted the blood of a true hero in a long time.”

”Boom——”

A fleeing vehicle had its tires shot out, crashed uncontrollably into the outer wall, and in an instant, turned chaotic.

The remaining riders and vehicles hurriedly fled into the town, only to collide head-on with a tide of zombies emerging. Caught between a rock and a hard place, the Pan-Asian Alliance’s men could only despairingly open fire on the zombie horde.

Lian Jin grabbed the edge of the window and sat back inside the off-road vehicle, frowning as he asked, ”Something feels off, how’s it going on the other side?”

The communicator personnel in the back seat immediately responded, ”All six hundred have been cleared, no incidents, they are currently converging towards us.”

”We’ve cleared this town before, right?”

”Yes, it was cleared during a major sweep six months ago, but some wandering zombie groups have recently gathered here again. The density and energy intensity match; no suspicious targets have been found.”

Lian Jin looked at the town ahead, irritably rubbing his chest hair, ”Forget it; once they’ve arrived, let’s flank them and encircle, aiming to wipe out this Pan-Asian Alliance team by noon today!”

”Understood!”

As soon as the words fell, the car door opened, and a strong figure in a suit leaped out from the front passenger seat. As soon as he landed, the ground sunk slightly, and his burst of speed surpassed that of the sprinting off-road vehicle.

The highly skilled melee Evolvers in the team quietly followed; the armed vehicles parked outside the town, and the armed personnel disembarked to adjust positions.

The closer they got to the town, the stronger Lian Jin’s premonition became. It was the ”battle instinct” telling him that even though he hadn’t seen or sensed anything, his body had already captured crucial information, forewarning him of a major battle today.

Lian Jin growled into his earpiece, ”Fire cover!”

Soon, shells were fired, landing in the town.

”Boom boom boom——”

The shockwave from the explosions, carrying flesh and blood, struck the building walls, causing them to collapse instantly, and the sticky, paint-like blood splattered across the streets.

Amidst the zombie horde’s roars, more shells fell into the already dilapidated town, leaving it even more battered.

The unfortunate Pan-Asian Alliance personnel were blown apart on the spot, while the rest madly fled into surrounding buildings amidst the chaos, evading high-tier zombies’ pursuit and ducking from the falling shells from the sky.

Kim Eunji hobbled along the building’s edge with two Tier One Evolvers trailing behind him.

Seeing the shells whistling down from above, he cursed and turned to dart into the building behind him, ignoring the loud screams of his subordinates.

”There’s a master in here; I’m going in first!”

Outside, Lian Jin barked an order, turned off his earpiece, and pocketed it.

As he performed these two actions, his body started releasing adrenaline, his blood sugar levels spiked, his body temperature soared, and he charged towards the town like a warbeast, keeping time with the pounding rhythm of his heart.

The ”bang bang bang” sound was no less than artillery shells hitting the ground.

A faint gunshot rang out, Lian Jin suddenly ducked his head, a sniper bullet hitting a small crater into the wall behind him.

He clenched his fists, sneered, ”Playing dirty with me, huh?”

With a grab at the wall, like a fierce tiger scaling a mountain, he leaped onto the building before him, scanning the spot where the bullet came from, indeed spotting a black figure leaving the sniper position.

With a kick, a section of wall tumbled; with a swing, the chunk of cement whistled through the air like a cannonball towards the figure.

But faster than the cement block were the dense bullets raining down like a downpour on Lian Jin’s landing spot.

Clearly, there had been an ambush!

Lian Jin’s face twitched, although his Tier Two ”Iron Fist” body was extremely tough, against a barrage of 12.7mm bullets, he could only avoid the force’s edge, just as he prepared to dodge, a violent vibration from his feet, like standing on a rampaging bull.

”Fuck! There’re mines!”

”Boom!”

The explosion echoed across the rooftop, but the Donghuang Heavy Industry armed personnel below just glanced up and continued focusing on the battle in front of them.

After entering the town, the troops got caught in street fighting.

Though Donghuang Heavy Industry’s troops were much superior in quality compared to the Pan-Asian Alliance’s thirty-thousand-strong ragtag group, they couldn’t gain as much advantage in street fighting as they could on open plains, only able to make a steady advance.

A young man with a katana quietly appeared at the edge of the explosion, lightly pushing his left hand against the sword guard. In an instant, a fierce blade light emerged, instantly suppressing the erratic dust within a dozen meters.

A wild figure appeared five meters directly above him, eyes brimming with malice!

”Boom!”

Qianye looked up at Lian Jin. Without any warning, as if moved by the wind, his left foot slid forward half a step, and his body’s center of gravity silently shifted forward. This subtle movement caused his originally clear outline to momentarily blur in Lian Jin’s retinas.

The metal-clad fist slammed into the sharp blade of the katana, the seemingly slender and fragile katana surprisingly withstood the strike, but its body showed obvious bending. The blade rubbed against the gauntlet, emitting an ear-piercing scream.

Qianye grunted, eyes beneath his short hair filled with awe, his entire being involuntarily flying backward.

”Daring to face my punch, you’ve got guts!”

Lian Jin roared with grim delight, attacking again, as his right fist withdrew, his left fist drove straight for the swordsman’s abdomen.

The air compressed by the punch howled and tore the clothes apart. Qianye’s eyes filled with dread; if hit by the punch, his physique would probably lead to instant death!

In his panic, he used his trump card technique.

The katana became lighter in his hands, like a thin sheet of paper. Flashes of his instructor’s teachings surfaced in Qianye’s mind, ’Unattached mind, sever the light, then see true darkness.’ The countless practice swipes from the dojo erupted in that moment, his hands conjuring a storm, slashing at Lian Jin like a raging tempest.

Committing to no defense, risking all to kill the opponent in front.

In an instant, a fierce pressure burst between them, sweeping everything in its path, leaving the arriving Kim Eunji wide-eyed.

’Attack against attack?’

Lian Jin’s thoughts flashed, not a trace of fear in his eyes, rather more exhilarated, slightly tilting his head to dodge a bullet from the shadows, and then charging the swordsman with even greater ferocity.

”Boom——”

The ground shifted in the vibrations, buildings tilted towards the battlefield center.

Sharp blasts tore through the explosive roar, leaving those around dazed.

A dozen ordinary zombies, drawn by the battle, suddenly fell, black blood slowly seeping from beneath them.
