Armed Train in the Apocalypse

A mere Level 5 Crew member, his head now feels twice as heavy.

If He Jie felt his heart was squeezed tightly before, now it was as if he’d been punched hard, his chest seemed to turn into a solid iron block, unable to inhale or exhale air, suffocating to the point where he felt he would burst apart any moment.

Did he really make a mistake?

Perhaps... but definitely not now!

He Jie’s gaze became firm once again, like a starving brown bear after hibernation, radiating a chilling aura all over.

His voice was cold and ruthless, ”I’ll explain to the conductor myself, this is the last warning, don’t blame me for disregarding camaraderie.”

Licking Rabbit walked away without looking back.

”Bang!”

A gunshot rang out.

Everyone looked at He Jie in shock; he was holding the Ming Lion, and the gun was aimed at Licking Rabbit.

It had escalated to this!

Glasses were stunned by the unexpected development.

He’d seen arguments before, but this was the first time he witnessed a confrontation with knives and guns.

The nature of the situation had completely changed.

With a trembling heart, he looked at Licking Rabbit on the other side, seeing him still standing in place, with only a blood streak appearing on his neck, dark blood flowing, soaking the pale green collar.

Licking Rabbit reached out to straighten his coat, the heavy fabric crackling like fireworks.

Then he walked out without looking back.

He Jie’s shot had barely grazed him; as Licking Rabbit said, the Armed Train wasn’t He Jie’s after all.

The automatic door closed, and He Jie felt the Ming Lion in his hand was as heavy as a ton of weight, pulling his hand straight down.

Yet he slowly placed the handgun on the table, as if nothing had happened, ”Connect me to Lin Jin, Zhong You...”

...

Inside Four Nations territory, a temporary command post.

As long as the war lasted, the Pan-Asian Alliance had been arguing for just as many days.

Initially, they argued about how many people to send into Donghuang territory. At that time, Chongying took the lead, sending three Tier Two Evolvers, including the first Sword Saint Qianye, initially cautiously, later relaxing when they saw Donghuang’s organizational capabilities collapse.

They set a trap intending to take down Lian Jin but ended up being encircled by the train.

Chongying waited left and right but didn’t get the three Tier Two Evolvers, instead receiving news of the Armed Train boldly crossing the river, almost spitting blood.

For such high-level masters, even the strength of a nation could only gather around a dozen; losing three all at once was a significant blow.

But after realizing only the Armed Train was their opponent, the Four Nations regained their confidence, deciding to use their numerical advantage to overwhelm it. Yet, as soon as combat began, each nation lost a Tier Two Evolver.

Within the Four Nations, there were just over twenty Tier Two Evolvers combined, all either as trump cards or major faction leaders, naturally unwilling to send them into battle. Thus, through this tacit understanding, they formed a plan to gradually exhaust the Armed Train through conventional warfare.

Inside the meeting room, Chongying Empire’s Army, Alpha Division’s brigade commander Ying Shanche, sat in the prime position, listening indifferently to the ongoing arguments below.

”They’re clearly advancing toward our country, hoping the alliance will intercept!”

This was from the White Elephant person.

”Nonsense, the Donghuang People are concentrating forces to attack our Tan Junyue, a sacred site for us Koreans whose importance is self-evident, naturally, we must assist first. Moreover, Tan Junyue is a crucial transport artery; if the Donghuang People take it, the border war will be a complete waste!”

This was said by the Korean person.

”Ridiculous! According to intelligence, the entire Armed Train only numbers a few thousand; how could they possibly pass through my hundred thousand-strong army and attack your Tan Junyue? It seems a few lost troopers scared you stiff. If it hadn’t been for our timely arrival, your Black Tiger Brigade would’ve been wiped out by the Donghuang People.”

The representatives from the White Elephant, White Crow, and Chongying all laughed simultaneously.

The Korean representative instantly stood up, humiliated and angry, looked at Ying Shanche first, and passionately declared, ”General Ying Shan, do you really think this way? If so, I believe there’s no need for the Four Nations Alliance!”

’There was never anything necessary in the first place!’

Ying Shanche disdainfully thought but maintained a calm exterior, soothing a bit to the Korean representative. Once the other sat down in a huff, he said, ”Tan Junyue is an essential route for my army’s advance and must be protected, so let’s have each of the two routes stationed with a brigade for protection, each dispatched by White Crow and White Elephant, how about it?”

Pointing out the two routes, implying that the Koreans weren’t so significant and shouldn’t act conceited.

The Korean representative sensed something was amiss but couldn’t quite oppose the decision.

Other representatives also voiced agreement.

Ying Shanche continued, ”Let’s discuss the upcoming assault schedule on the outposts.”

Upon this topic, even the usually optimistic White Elephant remained silent. Despite their illogical thinking, they did feel pain, and after the irrational were killed off, the remaining sane individuals multiplied.

Seeing no one had any desire to speak, Ying Shanche cleared his throat, ”Undoubtedly, everyone received the alliance command already. Two days later, we’re to completely annihilate the Train, initiating the first battle to enter Donghuang!”

Someone hesitantly said, ”Isn’t it a bit too rushed...”

Ying Shanche calmly replied, ”After these days, everyone has gauged the Armed Train’s prowess. Although impressive, it’s still not half of our Four Nations Alliance’s might, coupled with our numerous warriors, we hold a significant advantage.”

”True, but massive losses wouldn’t align with alliance interests.”

A White Elephant person with a red dot on the forehead said, speaking feminine despite being male. With his religious attire and boasting impressive purity of bloodline and remarkable appearance, he was appointed as the White Elephant military representative.

”We’ve obtained Lord Baki’s mysterious armor; it can resist fire and water. Even the opponent’s two Tier Two Evolvers would be rendered useless.”

Ying Shanche confidently stated.

Hearing ”Baki,” everyone’s eyes subtly shone with excitement, their previously grim faces instantly rejuvenated.

”If we possess Lord Baki’s mysterious armor, we’ll surely sweep through everything!”

”I believe we don’t even need two days, one day, no! Tomorrow! We can break the Train’s defenses!”

”Let’s go all out!”

”Yes, let those arrogant Donghuang People witness the true heritage we Four Nations hold!”

Even the Korean representative, who had just been embarrassed, joined enthusiastically in collective daydreaming; then someone hurriedly entered, whispered something in Ying Shanche’s ear, causing him to frown.

Soon enough, another individual quickly entered, and whispered behind each representative’s ear.

”What? The Donghuang People have attacked?”

”Is it that Flame Demon?”

”Damn! How dare they!”

Everyone, shocked and enraged, rose to their feet, intending to make a move, but instinctively looked toward Ying Shanche first.

He raised his hand, ”No need to worry. Quickly return and stabilize your troops. It’s likely the Donghuang People are at their limits, planning a desperate gambit. Victory is within reach; whatever you do, don’t disrupt the ranks!”

Everyone quickly retreated, leaving Ying Shanche alone in the room.

A blond-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian came out from the rear compartment, smiling and clapping, saying, ”Congratulations, with this battle achievement, General Ying Shan may qualify to ascend further, right?”

Ying Shanche maintained a calm expression, ”You’re impressive too; I never expected you could convince the alliance to dispatch forces, typically, they’d merely argue non-stop like today’s group.”

Haywood shook his head, ”That’s because they already have ideas regarding Donghuang; aren’t you the same?”

Ying Shanche nodded in agreement, ”Suppressing immediate greed for greater desires, we call it restraint.”

”What is Lord Baki?”

Ying Shanche’s expression turned somber, ”That question crosses the line—”

Mid-sentence, Ying Shanche suddenly realized something was off; this wasn’t even Haywood’s voice!

But the instant the thought arose, a cold sensation exploded within his heart; a powerful hand crushed his throat, rendering him unable to make any sound, only to feel life ebb away from the gaping wound in his chest.

”It’s presumably the great serpent in Chongying mythology, similar to Xiang Liu.”

Another voice uncertainly said.

”Ah, just a beast then, Victor Haywood, Mr. Blindman.” Tong Zizhan released the pencil soaked in blood, stating simply, one didn’t require complex weaponry to kill a Tier One Evolver; a pencil casually picked up from the table was plenty.

”It truly has been... a while!”

Gao Yuan stood beside, twisting his ring, and coldly echoed.

The change happened too quickly, Haywood’s smile hadn’t had time to recede, frozen on his face.

He’d seen these two faces endless times in files but facing them personally was a first.
