True Buddha!?

Ye Qing was startled by these two words. Although he was not very familiar with Brahmanism, he clearly understood the meaning these words represented. In fact, a single word like ’Buddha’ was enough to explain everything.

Those who could be called Buddha had mostly already passed into nirvana, and these Buddhas were mostly legendary beings. Modern people, no matter how strong or deeply versed in Buddhism, are at most referred to as enlightened monks and would never be called Buddha. As for the two words ’True Buddha’, they are even more profound, signifying an existence comparable to the Ancient Buddhas, indicating the immense significance they hold.

And now, the Broom Star before him actually claims to be a True Buddha. Can Ye Qing not be shocked by this?

Ye Qing certainly had heard about the True Buddha of Brahmanism, but he was unaware of the reincarnation of the True Buddha, so naturally, he did not know how the Broom Star could be called a True Buddha. However, for some reason, Ye Qing was greatly inclined to believe the words of Broom Star. Since Broom Star says he is the True Buddha, it must be accurate. Yet, despite knowing that Broom Star is indeed the True Buddha, Ye Qing still could not understand the reason behind it. How could a child so young be a True Buddha? Even if he began chanting from the womb and possessed exceptional wisdom, that would not warrant him being called a True Buddha, would it?

”This True Buddha of yours...” Ye Qing took a deep breath and asked in a low voice, ”Is there any difference between you and the True Buddha of Brahmanism?”

”You should only ask which generation of True Buddha I am, and not question the difference!” the Broom Star, or rather, the True Buddha, replied softly, ”He was the previous generation True Buddha, and I am the new True Buddha following his nirvana.”

”Ah?” Ye Qing was even more astonished and asked, ”After his nirvana, you... you became the new True Buddha? How do you know this happened?”

”Originally, I did not know about this, but after being burned by the Purple Lotus Karma Fire, which cleansed all worldly impurities from my body last time, I knew everything!” the True Buddha replied calmly, ”The title of True Buddha appears because every generation of True Buddha passes their memory to the next True Buddha. Hence, the memory of True Buddha is preserved and passed down. Every generation of True Buddha retains all memories of the previous True Buddhas, which is a key reason why True Buddha possesses great wisdom and can perceive worldly events!”

”Memory inheritance?” Ye Qing asked in wonder, ”How... how is this done?”

The True Buddha slowly shook his head and said, ”This is a Secret Technique.”

”Apologies,” Ye Qing quickly gestured with his hand, knowing that the person before him was the True Buddha and no longer the Broom Star; his speech now contained more courtesy. After all, it was the Broom Star who had a close relationship with Ye Qing, not this True Buddha. Honestly, looking at the True Buddha before him, Ye Qing truly could not reconcile him with the former Broom Star. This child, one could say, had become an entirely different person!

”Each True Buddha, before achieving nirvana, transmits a portion of their spiritual power to the next True Buddha. This transmission transcends space and merely requires a thought from the Buddha to convey the memory to the chosen next True Buddha. The next True Buddha then gradually assimilates this memory and slowly removes worldly impurities from themselves before the previous True Buddha achieves complete nirvana; all memories will fully be bestowed upon them. Once they thoroughly digest these memories and completely eliminate worldly impurities, they become the new True Buddha!”

Saying this, the True Buddha glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”I am an exception because when I received this memory, I was too young, and the memory was too vast for me to accept at once. Fortunately, I previously absorbed the Purple Lotus Karma Fire from the Corpse Ghost Dragon, which burned away all worldly impurities from me, aiding in my closed meditation period where I fully absorbed this memory. So now, I am the new True Buddha!”

Ye Qing watched the True Buddha slowly extend his hands, feeling an indescribable sensation inside. Although this child is young, his presence exuded a divine aura that made people instinctively want to worship. Is this the influence of the True Buddha?

Recollecting, Ye Qing finally understood why the Broom Star had gone into seclusion for such a long time, and why Shijia and Wuhua had insisted on his seclusion. It seems Shijia and Wuhua had recognized the Broom Star’s true identity long ago, which is why they had him absorb and integrate that memory.

”Since you are the True Buddha, there’s a matter related to the Buddhist Sect that I wish to ask about...” Ye Qing looked at the True Buddha and said, ”Have you ever heard of the Immovable King Supreme Bodhisattva?”

The True Buddha responded, ”You wish to ask about the Immovable Bodhisattva Seal, correct?”

Ye Qing was surprised; indeed, he wanted to ask about that matter. However, he did not expect that the True Buddha would know his thoughts as soon as he spoke. It seems this True Buddha not only inherited the memories of predecessors but also their wisdom, truly extraordinary.

Of course, hearing the True Buddha speak this way, Ye Qing was aware that he must know about the matter.

”It’s about the Immovable Bodhisattva Seal!” Ye Qing said, ”I’ve seen two Immovable Bodhisattva Seals, suppressing two Evil Demons. Also, my master Fu Qingping has seen one Immovable Bodhisattva Seal, which also should be suppressing an Evil Demon. However, my master and I have tried to destroy those Evil Demons but were blocked by the Immovable Bodhisattva Seal. Not only does the Immovable Bodhisattva Seal suppress the Evil Demons, but it also protects them; what’s the meaning of this?”

The True Buddha chuckled softly, shook his head, and said, ”What you see is not real. What you think is right is not necessarily right, and what you believe to be wrong is not truly wrong.”

These words left Ye Qing even more baffled, as he looked at the True Buddha and said, ”What... what does this mean?”

”Soon you will understand,” the True Buddha slowly stood up and said, ”Mr. Ye, could you assist me with something?”

Not having received the answer he sought, Ye Qing felt extremely frustrated. Since the Broom Star had become the True Buddha, he had become even more mysterious in his words. He seemed to know the truth but chose not to reveal it, leaving Ye Qing unsure of what puzzle he was trying to solve. Still, since the Broom Star is raised by Ye Qing himself, there should be no harm intended. Thus, hearing True Buddha ask for assistance, Ye Qing agreed without hesitation.

”How can I help?” Ye Qing asked.

The True Buddha handed the Buddha’s Golden Body to Ye Qing and said, ”Help me safeguard this Buddha’s Golden Body, and after I die, place this Buddha’s Golden Body along with the other eight Buddha’s Golden Bodies.”

Ye Qing looked at the True Buddha in surprise. Although he had acquired much of his predecessors’ memories, the True Buddha was only a few years old, whereas Ye Qing was over twenty years older than him. If judging by age, the True Buddha should die after Ye Qing. However, he now confesses his last wishes, which puzzled Ye Qing greatly. Does this mean he knows he will die before Ye Qing?

”After you die?” Ye Qing asked in wonder, ”You’re just a few years old, why are you contemplating death? Even if arrangements need to be made, it should be me directing affairs. I’m over twenty years older than you, so by age, I should die before you.”

The True Buddha shook his head gently and said softly, ”Rest assured, you will certainly die after me.”

If the Broom Star were to say this normally, Ye Qing would surely think it nonsense. However, since the Broom Star is now the True Buddha, these words leave Ye Qing no choice but to believe them. Could it be that the True Buddha indeed has the ability to foresee his own death? But if he can foresee his own death, why not avoid it?

”Can you foresee your own death?” Ye Qing asked.

The True Buddha chuckled slightly and said, ”I know what you want to say, but this matter is unavoidable. Even if I can foresee my death and even know how I will die, I cannot avoid it.”

”Since you’re aware, why can’t you prevent it?” Ye Qing asked urgently, puzzled by the True Buddha’s words confirming the ability to foresee his own demise.

The True Buddha said, ”Death is inevitable for everyone. If one insists on evading it, there will be a hefty price!”

”What is costlier than death?” Ye Qing countered.

The True Buddha looked at Ye Qing calmly and said, ”Some costs truly outweigh death. You will understand eventually; just remember my words, safeguard this Buddha’s Golden Body for me. Upon my death, ensure the Buddha’s Golden Body is placed with the other eight, and that is all!”

”Didn’t you say before that if these eight Buddha’s Golden Bodies converge, it would equal the gathering of the Buddha’s Nine Heads? And if the Buddha’s Nine Heads gather, the Buddha’s Golden Body will manifest, causing chaos across the world!” Ye Qing took a deep breath, looking at the True Buddha and said, ”By asking me to place this Buddha’s Golden Body alongside the other eight, aren’t you intentionally inciting chaos across the world?”

The True Buddha shook his head, ”If indeed I die, even without the gathering of the Buddha’s Nine Heads, the world will still descend into chaos. In such a time, gathering the Buddha’s Nine Heads wouldn’t create chaos; it would serve as salvation!”

These words stirred something within Ye Qing. According to the True Buddha’s perspective, perhaps it is due to worldly chaos that he dies. Hence, his demise is also linked to Guiguzi’s prophecy of gods causing calamity. If so, preventing the opening of the Heaven Earth Man Three Gates to avert gods causing calamity might prevent the True Buddha’s death?

Ye Qing did not voice this question, as he knew even if he did, the True Buddha would still talk about inevitability. Even Guiguzi speaks of the inevitability of gods causing chaos. However, Ye Qing did not believe so; despite his total ignorance of historical intricacies, he understood the principle that efforts lead to change.
