Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 742: Chapter 722: Wanting to Grow Taller

After Luo Xiying took Luo Qianqian home, she spoke with the two elders for a bit and then left. Watching Luo Xiying leave, Yue Tingyu secretly wiped away her tears.

Old Master Luo sighed deeply and gently embraced Yue Tingyu, ”The children have all grown up, you shouldn’t worry so much.”

Yue Tingyu didn’t say anything, but quietly nodded her head. Old Master Luo watched his son leave and also had much to reflect on; he sighed and then said nothing more.

After Luo Qianqian returned to her room, she saw that Qin Nuan and Sister Congrong were actually playing poker, and moreover, they were playing ”Fight the Landlord,” which left her momentarily speechless.

”You’re back?” Qin Nuan, seeing Luo Qianqian return, quickly handed her a stack of cards, ”Hurry and continue, Sister Congrong is the landlord...”

Luo Qianqian, with a face full of speechlessness, nodded and finished the round with the two of them before going to wash up. As soon as she came out, she saw both of them already lying on the bed, looking at her with expectant faces.

”What’s up?” Luo Qianqian was puzzled. Had she done something wrong again?

”Did your uncle scold you?” Qin Nuan chuckled mischievously.

Sister Congrong immediately retorted, ”No, no, he must have been concerned about you, right?”

Luo Qianqian thought carefully, ”It seems he came by to see me since he was passing through...” So, he didn’t scold her, but speaking of concern, did it look like concern at all?

Upon further reflection, Luo Xiying’s actions felt somewhat incredible to her, and so did Bai Yixian’s. She had never sensed anything like this from either of them before, nothing seemed different about the two at all.

Wait, that’s not right. The first time the two of them met, when she was kidnapped and then rescued by Luo Xiying, Bai Yixian had already shown a hint of something not quite right. But at the time, she hadn’t paid it much attention.

As for Luo Xiying, she couldn’t see anything special; apart from seeing him less often than others, there wasn’t anything particularly notable about him, other than showing up in emergencies.

No, that box under brother’s bed...

Luo Qianqian frowned tightly as she pondered...

”Qianqian!” Qin Nuan slapped Luo Qianqian’s hand, ”What are you thinking about?”

”I’m thinking... whether or not to eat at home tomorrow.” Luo Qianqian snapped back to reality and immediately said seriously.

”Huh?” Qin Nuan looked puzzled.

However, a hint of understanding appeared on Sister Congrong’s face, with a smile, she shook her head slightly.

”There’s no meat at home tomorrow, you know I’m not a rabbit, how can I just eat vegetables? I still need to grow...” she rambled on about various things, but the main point was, without meat, she had no appetite.

”Is it really good for you to have eaten such greasy food this morning?” Qin Nuan looked at her with disgust, ”If it’s not okay, go buy something at school, don’t really refuse to eat with a look of disdain.”

Luo Qianqian had improvised an excuse just now, naturally, she wouldn’t really do that. She nodded slightly, her face full of helplessness, ”Looks like we should take good care of our bodies, otherwise, we’ll end up like Grandpa in the future, unable to eat what we love; how pitiful that would be.” She knew Old Master Luo was restricted by his high blood pressure because he refused to take his medication.

”Wow, that’s rare,” Qin Nuan rolled her eyes, ”Who was it before that ate rice grain by grain to maintain her figure during meals?”

Sister Congrong feigned surprise, ”Counting rice grains? What a big project that is.”

”That’s for sure. Little do you know, one pizza is equivalent to how much rice.” Qin Nuan looked at Luo Qianqian, seeing her face of indifference, was about to say something more when she heard Luo Qianqian’s owed laugh.

”Oh my, I really need to eat more meat in the future—it’s nutritious, and that’s the only way to grow taller.” She said, raising an eyebrow at Qin Nuan with a mischievous smile, ”How sad would it be if I ended up shorter than expected?”

Qin Nuan’s face turned instantly dark, proving what ’darker than the bottom of a pot’ really looked like.

In her previous life, she stopped growing altogether in her sophomore year of college, but compared to this life... she was actually three centimeters taller then? That made no sense; she took calcium supplements, soaked up the sun, exercised, and even ate more ribs—she tried everything but only grew one centimeter and was two centimeters shorter, leaving her utterly baffled and without any way or will to continue trying...

Because of that one centimeter, she had gained a full ten pounds, ten pounds!

Seeing Luo Qianqian’s triumphant look, Qin Nuan deeply understood the idiom ’the ignoble reveling in their success’. Wasn’t it about people who were small or young feeling smug? Wasn’t Luo Qianqian the very definition?

Looking at Qin Nuan’s expression, Luo Qianqian chuckled and turned to Cong Rong, ”Sister Congrong, how tall do you want to be?”

”I’m fine the way I am now,” Cong Rong was caught off guard, just enjoying the excitement of the two. When she was asked the question, it took her a while to react.

”I wish I could get to one meter seventy. Then I’d have super long legs.” Luo Qianqian’s face was full of yearning.

Qin Nuan chuckled softly to herself. They shared everything with each other, so they were clear about past issues with height.

Considering Luo Qianqian was two centimeters shorter than her, her desire to reach one meter seventy probably included ten centimeters of high heels.

However, in front of Cong Rong, Qin Nuan would not expose Luo Qianqian’s pretense.

”Not necessarily...” Cong Rong said earnestly, ”Look at the dorm supervisor downstairs, she’s tall enough, right? But her legs aren’t that long.”

Luo Qianqian was speechless, why would a young girl like her be compared to the dorm supervisor?

”Then look at that high jumper from the sports department, those legs, my goodness, they’d be enough to amuse me for a year,” Qin Nuan quickly added, ”But she’s not one meter seventy either, missing by a tael or two.”

”I...” I don’t want to strangle you to death, but isn’t it pretty close even without one meter seventy?

”So leg length has nothing to do with height,” Qin Nuan concluded her remarks with a seriously look.

Luo Qianqian turned her head away, indicating she didn’t want to deal with her, then took out a bunch of facial masks and skincare products from the drawer, ”Come on, let’s do some skin care. I bought these before military training and haven’t used them.”

The three of them happily began caring for their skin. Even though they knew cosmetics were pseudoscience and virtually useless, they still enjoyed it tirelessly—women are such strange creatures.

The next morning, Cong Rong and Qin Nuan got up early as they knew Luo Qianqian’s alarm clock was always set right at the limit. If all three of them got up according to Luo Qianqian’s alarm, even if they wouldn’t be late, they’d surely break out in a big sweat.

So the two tacitly rose half an hour earlier.

When Luo Qianqian opened her eyes and saw the two had already gone to wash up, she yawned, pulled out the buzzing phone from under the pillow, ”Had I known, I wouldn’t have gotten up.” She then rolled over to continue sleeping, taking over Qin Nuan and Cong Rong’s territories in the meantime.

When the two returned from washing up, they saw Luo Qianqian had fallen asleep spread-eagled, and their faces couldn’t help but show a sense of helplessness.
