Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 728: Chapter 708: Lunchtime Fright

”Trouble yourself for lasagna, seafood pizza, and also cream-filled pancake rolls, and a cheese fondue,” Chu Ting ordered quickly and then looked directly at Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian paused for a long time before she finally thought of a dish she knew, ”Italian risotto, thank you.”

They sat by the window, while Jimo Cheng and his two companions were seated across the aisle from them.

The three people on the other side, two of whom had faces expressing their speechlessness. Why would they want to eat this stuff? Just hearing it sounds like it’s high in calories, doesn’t it?

”What are you eating?” Jimo Cheng looked at the two people and realized they both had faces full of distaste. Almost immediately, he understood what they meant and sighed silently to himself, ”Girls are really troublesome.”

He ordered casually, seeing the expressions of the other two and deciding not to eat either.

Luo Qianqian noticed Qin Nuan’s worried look and shook her head slightly towards her.

”Sister Chu, is there something you wanted to talk to me about? I have classes in the afternoon, so I don’t have much time. If you have something to say, please say it quickly,” Luo Qianqian gently swirled her water glass as if it were a wine glass, without any intention of taking a sip.

”Can’t I come to see my sister without a reason?” Chu Ting smiled and then got straight to the point, ”I think my sister might have misunderstood me, so I came to explain a bit.”

”Oh?” Luo Qianqian merely raised an eyebrow.

Seeing Luo Qianqian’s distant demeanor, yet affectionately calling her ’sister’, Chu Ting couldn’t help but think more highly of her, ”The waiter who made the mistake yesterday has been fired, so I would ask for my sister’s understanding.”

”It was just a careless mistake, yet it’s caused him to lose his job? This is making it seem like I’m relentlessly demanding the Chu Family give an explanation, isn’t it? He said he was sorry, I said it was no big deal, and the matter was over,” Luo Qianqian was especially calm, ”There’s no need to do so much. Everyone has their moments of carelessness.”

She emphasized the words ’careless’ and ’unintentional’, yet her face didn’t show the slightest dissatisfaction.

Qin Nuan on the side was also very impressed by Luo Qianqian’s performance at that moment. Only in this way could she match wits with Chu Ting. After all, without Luo Qianqian back then, Chu Ting had become the unparalleled leading lady of the Capital City’s socialites, her reputation soaring.

”The Chu Family certainly doesn’t keep those who are useless, my sister might be overthinking it. It’s fortunate that my sister is so magnanimous. If something like this were to happen to some important guest, coupled with the fact that such an incident had occurred here before, then it would be the Chu Family’s fault,” Chu Ting also spoke with conviction, sounding very reasonable.

Luo Qianqian merely curled the corners of her mouth, ”The Chu Family is really strict,” she said, her hands clasped and holding the water glass, her face betraying no expression.

”That’s how it should be,” Chu Ting smiled, ”Your dress has been returned to the Luo Family.”

Luo Qianqian nodded in understanding, ”Then thank you for the trouble.” Her face wore a serious expression that didn’t allow for any fault to be found.

”Here’s your cream risotto.” The dish Jimo Cheng ordered had arrived. Luo Qianqian looked at the steaming hot rice and became suddenly alert. She remembered that Chu Ting ordered a cheese fondue, right?

So... could it also be scalding hot? Could it possibly...

As it turned out, she was overthinking it. The cheese fondue was placed steadily on the table.

Luo Qianqian then breathed a sigh of relief and took a few bites of her risotto, setting her spoon down afterwards. She would rather eat in the cafeteria than have these kinds of things. At least she could be assured of food safety.

This mixed taste, she really couldn’t come to like it.

Chu Ting on the other side had already put down her chopsticks too, seeing Luo Qianqian put down hers, she looked puzzled, ”Don’t you like to eat?”

”Oh, I’m on a diet, I can’t eat high-calorie food.” Luo Qianqian was especially calm, for the food she loved, eating it with someone she disliked was hard to swallow. The food she didn’t like, eating it with someone she adored could still be very enjoyable.

”That’s the case, huh, I am too, had I known, I would have chosen something low-calorie.” Chu Ting smiled.

As a model, she naturally had to maintain her figure, so even for food she loved, she could only ever take a small bite, and because of that bite, she had to increase the intensity of her workouts to keep in shape.

”Yeah, after all, it’s a woman’s lifetime career.” Luo Qianqian’s eyes drifted to Qin Nuan, who was happily eating pizza. When Qin Nuan felt her gaze, she shivered, put down the pizza, and wiped her mouth.

”I’ll go to the bathroom first.” Chu Ting, carrying her small bag, went towards the bathroom with her graceful, swaying steps.

Luo Qianqian didn’t care if she was going to run away; she could afford the meal, and hurriedly called out to Qin Nuan, ”Stop eating now, and take me to eat something else later!”

Qin Nuan looked at the table full of food and sighed, nodding her head; she understood Luo Qianqian’s reservation about eating, after all, the other person was Chu Ting.

Jimo Cheng looked at Luo Qianqian with a helpless smile, this was also good, since he hadn’t eaten a bite anyway.

Just as he was about to say something, he frowned and looked towards the man who got up and staggered, feeling a dangerous sensation.

He was about to warn Luo Qianqian but was startled by the sudden roaring sound and the impact that followed, upon opening his eyes, he directly saw a truck hitting the seat where Luo Qianqian was, destroying the whole seat, without any sight of Luo Qianqian.

Jimo Cheng couldn’t care about the glass shards and rubble around him, he quickly looked left and right where Luo Qianqian had just been, but he couldn’t see Luo Qianqian or any blood, and neither was she anywhere to be found in the surroundings.

At this moment, Qin Nuan couldn’t care about her arm that had been hit by the glass; it wasn’t bleeding, it was probably just bruised from the impact.

But the three people who were directly facing the truck received less damage than those at the adjacent seats. Some of them had been hit by the flying glass shards, causing them to bleed profusely, and others had even been scalded by the flying cheesy hot pot, screaming in pain; the scene was a complete mess.

Chu Ting, coming out of the bathroom, was shocked at the scene before her, one thought crossing her mind: It’s over.

Now, no matter how she explained, no one would believe she was innocent, although she wanted to do so, she ultimately didn’t have the courage. After all, Luo Qianqian had stolen some of the glory that belonged to her, how could she not bear a grudge?

”Where’s Qianqian?” Qin Nuan, along with Cong Rong, stood up without caring about the car right in front of them, tears falling down, they crouched down and carefully checked under the car, afraid to see a scene they didn’t want to witness, but if there was no such scene, it meant Luo Qianqian was safe, wasn’t it?

Not seeing any blood, the two exchanged glances, then both heaved a sigh of relief, no longer caring about the dirty and chaotic ground, they just collapsed sitting there.

Qin Nuan comforted Cong Rong, and in comforting Jimo Cheng, she was also comforting herself, ”It’s okay, that girl is incredibly lucky, she won’t have any problems.”

”Yes.”

”Mhm.”
