Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 739: Chapter 719: Old Master Luo Wants to Eat Vegetarian Food Now

The greasy meal indeed made everyone eat less, and Old Master Luo took advantage of Yue Tingyu’s inattention to sneak bites here and there, eliciting utter speechlessness from everyone at the table. If you want to eat, just say it outright. Is this really a good way to do things? It made everyone lose their appetite...

Yue Tingyu snorted, ”Qianqian, for the next month you’ll eat outside, we’re going vegetarian at home!”

Old Master Luo’s face instantly turned sour. If it weren’t for his inability to resist this time, there’d usually be at least a small but delicious non-greasy meat dish on the table at home, or some seafood like fish or crab. Since Luo Qianqian didn’t like them much, those dishes were typically reserved for when she wasn’t around. And now, even these were going to be stripped away? Old Master Luo sullenly grabbed the big elbow joint and brought it in front of him, proudly starting to feast on it. Since he’d be without meat for a whole month, he was determined to eat his fill!

Yue Tingyu had an expression of helpless resignation on her face, yet she didn’t stop him, her face betraying a hint of schadenfreude.

Luo Qianqian initially didn’t understand the meaning, nor did she think it through completely, but soon enough she found out. Merely half an hour later, Old Master Luo, looking oddly pale, rushed towards the restroom.

Yue Tingyu was leisurely writing up a menu, mulling over what soup to simmer for Luo Qianqian in the evening.

What about Luo Qianqian, Qin Nuan, and Cong Rong? They had already taken Baozi out for a walk, unable to bear the sight of Old Master Luo’s discomfiture.

The two daughters-in-law were also dispatched to buy groceries. With such an incident at Luo Qianqian’s home, they were worried and wanted to help however they could. Luo Xihan returned to the company, and before leaving, she didn’t forget to call Luo Yanran to escort him to the airport.

When Luo Qianqian and the others returned, Old Master Luo had just come back from the restroom, his face devoid of healthy color.

No sooner had he sat down and taken a few sips of water than he clutched his stomach and headed for the toilet again, ”You actually poisoned me!”

Yue Tingyu hummed a tune, ”Qianqian ate it too, how come she’s fine?”

”Granny definitely did it on purpose,” Luo Qianqian muffled a laugh behind her hand.

”I certainly did not, don’t talk nonsense,” Yue Tingyu cheerfully raised her eyebrows, and even poured another cup of cool water for Old Master Luo.

Luo Qianqian, having witnessed the scene, immediately stood to pour water for Baozi before returning to her seat. ”Yeah, I ate too, but I didn’t get an upset stomach, did I?”

Qin Nuan pursed her lips on the side. You only had one bite, while Old Master Luo had a whole plate! A whole plate!

”You’ve been eating plenty of greasy food at school, and your grandfather has been having light meals for such a long time. How could he not feel unwell after suddenly eating something so greasy?” Yue Tingyu said with a calm face, ”Now I’m just waiting to see how much he’s willing to sacrifice for the sake of eating meat.” Saying that, she revealed a mischievous smile.

Luo Qianqian burst out laughing at that, with Qin Nuan and Cong Rong joining in the laughter. It seemed that both the elderly had plenty of spirit and a youthful heart.

Later that evening, Yue Tingyu led the two daughters-in-law to prepare another table full of meat dishes. Yes, that’s right, a table full of meat dishes, and although there were fewer people eating compared to lunch, the amount of food was no less.

”It really is Grandpa’s breaking the fast day today, huh?” Luo Qianqian giggled, knowing that Old Master Luo, according to Yue Tingyu’s incomplete tally, had made over twenty trips that afternoon.

He still looked feeble and lackluster, but for the sake of eating meat, he stubbornly got up to eat dinner.

However, he was convinced that Yue Tingyu had poisoned him with croton, which was why he had such severe diarrhea. So, he became wiser and only eyed the dishes Luo Qianqian had tried. He was certain Yue Tingyu wouldn’t want her granddaughter to suffer from stomach troubles.

Luo Qianqian thought about it and quietly drank two bowls of pork rib soup, then ate half a bowl of rice with some pickles and declared she was full.

Old Master Luo’s face was a picture of disbelief.

Qin Nuan and Cong Rong also covered their mouths and snickered as they followed Luo Qianqian’s lead in drinking soup and eating pickles. And Yue Tingyu? She only drank a bowl of rock sugar and white fungus soup at night, for beauty, nourishing her complexion, and moistening her lungs.

The two daughters-in-law were also having the rock sugar and white fungus soup, learning Granny’s beauty secrets. Old Master Luo watched as no one touched the spread of dishes on the table, swallowed his saliva, rubbed his still grumbling belly, and stared at his bowl, not knowing what to do.

The three generations of women were all laughing so hard they could hardly take it. In the end, Luo Qianqian couldn’t bear to see her grandfather’s pitiable look and picked up her chopsticks since among the six people present, she was the only one who wasn’t very afraid of gaining weight.

She picked up a piece and ate it in front of Old Master Luo.

After they all had eaten, they rubbed their stomachs, pursed their lips, thinking, this was really torturing... They had soup and rice, and now they have to eat a pile of meat? But the meat in the evening was obviously a lot more refined than at noon, less fatty, and mainly consisted of beef, lamb, and chicken, without any pork.

However, Old Master Luo seemed to no longer care about this, rubbing his stomach that was either hunger or his intestines protesting, he ate happily. After all, his meatless days were looming.

After the hearty meal, Old Master Luo conscientiously took his newspaper and reading glasses into the bathroom, given how long his stomach had been making noises, it was time to pay the toilet a proper visit as a gesture of respect.

Of course, the result was a slight continuation of his diarrhea, undoubtedly because he ate too much at lunch.

Watching Old Master Luo enter the bathroom, Luo Qianqian tentatively asked, ”Granny... are we really not going to let Grandpa eat meat anymore?”

Yue Tingyu nodded her head, all seriousness, ”For your grandfather’s health, it’s a must.”

Luo Qianqian pursed her lips and nodded. Although she felt very sorry for Master, Granny wasn’t wrong. Health is the most important thing; one can’t neglect one’s well-being for a lifetime’s worth of dietary desires, right?

When Old Master Luo came out, he saw his little granddaughter with her hands spread and a helpless expression on her face.

He knew his granddaughter had been persuaded. He sighed slightly, thinking that maybe he should eat out from time to time? It was time to dip into the private fund he had hidden in the vase!

To his surprise, he saw the envelope in front of Yue Tingyu, his expression froze as Yue Tingyu waved it with a full smile, ”I’ll accept this surprise, but don’t splurge like this again next time.”

Old Master Luo wanted to cry without tears.

Yue Tingyu laughed triumphantly, so many years and you haven’t searched it out, thinking of using it for dining out? Don’t even think about it! She casually handed it to Luo Qianqian, ”Here’s some pocket money from your grandpa and me.”

Old Master Luo could only muster a smile that was both awkward and graceful, his newspaper nearly crumbled in his hands.

Before he could react, the front door opened, and he saw his youngest son at the doorway. A streak of annoyance crossed his face, ”Why have you come back too? And so late at that? Everyone else has left, and now you show up. Can’t you stick to the plan?”

Luo Xiying appeared completely bewildered, ”What do you mean ’too’? Who else came back? I heard that the old man had diarrhea so I came back to check on you.” Luo Xiying said with unaffected calm, as if it was all true.
