Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 709: Chapter 689: Bringing Gifts

Lu Simiao was speechless, spread his hands. He was speaking seriously, but Luo Qianqian disrupted him, making it feel not serious at all.

”We’ll first swing by to see Elvis as it’s on the way, then head to the school to drop some stuff off, and then go to the hospital.” Luo Qianqian quickly made a decision. Lu Simiao was sick, and she had to make sure everything was alright with him in front of her before she could be at ease.

Lu Simiao spread his hands, went back to his room to pack some things, then carried a bag and changed into sportswear, standing beside Luo Qianqian: ”Ready anytime.” It was just a physical examination. He wasn’t a little girl to be all coy, nor was he scared. How could he let Luo Qianqian look down on him?

Qin Nuan raised her brows, shook her head subtly, Luo Qianqian’s height, truly a disadvantage.

”Carrying a bag too, do you also plan to do homework on the way?” Luo Qianqian raised an eyebrow, thinking of those kids rushing their homework on buses and subways, she frowned slightly: ”Do you have a lot of homework now?”

”I’ve already finished it.” Lu Simiao didn’t want to look at Luo Qianqian. Even if she was a sister he got for free, could she not think so wildly? Could only homework be stored in a backpack? Sometimes he really wondered, was this person really attending college?

”Not bad, very good.” Luo Qianqian praised in an elder’s tone: ”I’ll buy you something tasty later.”

Lu Simiao didn’t want to talk.

Qin Nuan giggled on the side: ”Alright, alright, let our little man help carry a bag.”

Both of them had exerted considerable effort to bring the specialties, neatly packed inside two paper bags on the floor.

Lu Simiao naturally picked up the bags. As a boy, he should be a bit more gentlemanly. He had to do more, there was no reason to let a girl carry things while he just watched.

Luo Qianqian nodded in satisfaction, couldn’t it be seen that their little Lu Simiao was quite the gentleman?

The three of them walked side by side; in the end, Luo Qianqian didn’t have to carry anything. Qin An didn’t want to bully the kid, Lu Simiao upheld his gentlemanly demeanor, and in the end, the relatively ’weakest’ Luo Qianqian ended up with an easy task.

At that moment, Qin An fully stopped thinking of Luo Qianqian as the ’Flying Little Policewoman’ and only saw her as a child. They reached Elvis’s doorstep, the door ajar. Luo Qianqian, feeling mischievous, knocked on the door and lowered her voice to say: ”Hello, checking the water meter.”

”Why check the water meter now?” Elvis grumbled as he walked out, then saw those lively eyes through the door crack, his face lit up: ”Luo Qianqian, what brings you here?” His voice was much louder than his grumbling.

Luo Qianqian jumped slightly, her mouth pursed. Was it necessary to be that surprised?

”I came to check on our major patient, and also to bring you a gift.” Luo Qianqian smiled: ”What are you doing at home?”

”Oh...” Elvis casually glanced inside: ”Just cleaning up. What gift?”

The room indeed was quite clean, a table held books and a computer, and there was a half-drunk coffee still steaming.

”I see you were just enjoying yourself.” Luo Qianqian smirked, took a gift from Qin Nuan’s bag and stuffed it into Elvis’s hands, then handed him the entire bag: ”Carrying it was a bit tiring, I left these here for now, I’ll come to get them later. They’re not all for you.”

Elvis wore a helpless expression: ”Fine, give me one, stuck carrying two bags, I was a bit excited for nothing.”

Luo Qianqian shrugged: ”I still need to go to the school, won’t disturb you anymore, I’ll find you for a meal after the check-up.”

”Okay.” Elvis nodded, his blond hair shimmered in the light, capturing Luo Qianqian’s gaze for a few extra seconds.

”Hmm, we’ll chat when I get back, you keep busy,” Luo Qianqian bent her lips, thoughtfully closed the door for Elvis, and turned around with Qin Nuan and Lu Simiao, leaving in the direction of the school. Luo Qianqian didn’t mention anything about homework; she was coming back later anyway so there was no need to rush.

A figure at the window finally breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the three leave, set the tray of cakes on the coffee table, and sat on the sofa to take a sip of coffee, ”Remember to close the door next time.”

Elvis gave a wry smile, ”They’ll be back soon, what do you think?”

”I’ll be leaving soon,” the man said as he turned on his computer and skillfully typed a few lines, ”Even though I don’t want to... Hey, did she just mention a health check? What health check?”

”It must be that child; the child was sick before, so they are probably going for a thorough check,” Elvis shrugged and continued scrubbing the floor.

Meanwhile, the trio had already reached the school. Luo Qianqian, looking at the yellowing leaves, couldn’t help reflecting, ”Time flies so fast. It was green just a second ago, and now it’s turning yellow. A moment ago, we were children, and now we’ve grown up...”

”The leaves’ departure, is it the pursuit of the wind, yearning for freedom, or the tree’s reluctance to hold on?” Qin Nuan voiced her thoughts as she observed the fallen leaves.

”It’s abscisic acid, big sister, it’s abscisic acid,” Luo Qianqian dispassionately revealed, showing no sign of romanticizing the moment.

Qin Nuan was speechless, ”Can’t you let me be sentimental for a moment?”

”Then don’t get sentimental over the pine tree’s fallen leaves. You should know that it is evergreen,” Luo Qianqian pursed her lips and turned to Lu Simiao, ”You need to study hard if you want to attend the same school as us, you know?”

Lu Simiao nodded his head understandingly.

The next second, the three of them encountered Xi Ming and a few boys talking as they walked.

”Xi Ming!!” Luo Qianqian waved her hand and called out to Xi Ming, who was surprised to see Luo Qianqian and Qin Nuan, then told the boys something and walked over to the group.

”You’re back today? That’s not like you,” Xi Ming smiled as he tousled Luo Qianqian’s hair, then looked toward Lu Simiao, ”This must be your brother, right? He looks good.”

”Tousling hair will stunt growth,” Luo Qianqian puffed her cheeks, then rummaged through the bag in Lu Simiao’s hand, pulling out two gift bags and handing them to Xi Ming, then took out a wrapped box from her own bag, ”This is for you, and these two are for Sister Xi and her husband.”

”Ye Liang knows you changed your tone so quickly?”

”There are gifts too?” Xi Ming shook the bags in his hand, smiling, ”Okay, I’ll deliver them tonight, mission guaranteed.”

Luo Qianqian chuckled, ”Then you go ahead, I’ll continue being a gift-giving Santa Claus.”

Xi Ming nodded, looking at the people who were waiting for him, ”Then I’ll be leaving first, if you guys are bored this afternoon you can come over.”

”Okay.” Luo Qianqian watched Xi Ming run off and said to Lu Simiao, ”Look at Brother Xi Ming, he became president of the student council at such a young age, you should learn from him, you know?”

Qin Nuan, standing by, had an expression full of disbelief, ”You really have the nerve to talk about Xi Ming being young? And during a lecture to Lu Simiao too?”

Lu Simiao watched Xi Ming running into the distance, then turned to Luo Qianqian’s earnest expression, unable to understand her reference to being youthful.
