Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 640: Chapter 620: Lin Xu’s Decision

As they had anticipated, the matter of Lin Jiabao’s guardianship, with the elders not at home, was laid before Lin Xu.

Unexpectedly, when confronting this phone call, Lin Xu did not hesitate at all, ”I don’t care.”

This response made An Zilan beside him couldn’t help but stare in shock, her face filled with disbelief.

Although they usually lived quite well, Lin Xu often used his own money to help out there and even occasionally bought food to take over. An Zilan saw all this, but since it wasn’t her money, she turned a blind eye, after all, they were a blended family, different from those with original partners.

Usually, whenever there was a small issue there, Lin Xu, even if he had just lain down, even if he felt unwell, even if he was busy, had to drop his work and rush over. If he was a bit late, he would be scolded by that old lady for being unfilial and not caring about her life and death.

Now, hearing Lin Xu’s firm and decisive, not leaving any room for redemption in his words, how could it not be astonishing?

Lin Jiayou was also stunned when his dad called to explain the situation, knowing usually whatever that troublesome kid wanted, Lin Xu always persuaded him to give it to his brother, since he was the elder brother, ”Has Dad changed his ways???”

At that moment, He Wenyu and Luo Qianqian were happily eating cake, and upon hearing what happened after Lin Jiayou hung up the phone, Luo Qianqian frowned, ”It must be because they tried to hurt An Hao, right? After all, An Hao is still in swaddling clothes, utterly defenseless...”

”Why don’t you think it’s a little accumulated as well? My dad is very suppressed, you know?” Lin Jiayou picked up his cup, his face filled with exclamation, ”But speaking of which, what about that little guy? It’s not like he can just be ignored, right?”

”Why do you care so much? It’s not like they’ll dump him on you, just relax.” Luo Qianqian spoke calmly, put down her fork, and stood up, ”Compared to that, I’m more interested in those three adults.”

”It’s not the nursing period, that aunt can’t possibly come out to cause trouble again, can she?” He Wenyu slightly frowned, his face expressing dislike, ”But do you know what I’m afraid of?”

All three of them looked at He Wenyu, who bowed his head, hiding his swollen eyes, ”I’m afraid that troublesome kid will follow suit and then also try to pull something big...”

”Don’t scare me...” Lin Jiayou frowned deeply, having not often returned there for the New Year or festivals in recent years, so his impression of the child was still from a long time ago.

For instance, if he liked a dish, he had to monopolize it all, and if someone else took a bite, he would cry, compelling the family to let him have his way. But he didn’t lack food himself, so he never fought over it.

For example, if he saw something he liked and the family didn’t buy it for him, he would throw tantrums, he had to have whatever others had, he would even steal money to buy it himself or starve himself in front of the old lady to force her to compromise...

Looking at it now, it really was uncertain, after all, when Luo Qianqian had something, the troublesome kid wanted it too, but it was only stopped by him.

Frowning deeply, ”That kid, too troublesome, if he worries about An Hao taking his stuff and thus does something, it’s not impossible...”

”Stop, An Hao taking his stuff? Uncle Lin and your younger uncle are not even on the same standing in front of that old lady, and before An Hao was born, didn’t that old lady make all sorts of mischief trying to make the godmother miscarry? Initially, didn’t she also say that the child wasn’t Uncle Lin’s? How could she possibly compete for his affection?” He Wenyu immediately objected, knowing the old lady’s extreme favoritism, even his mother could see it, how could she possibly dote on An Hao?

And furthermore... she almost took An Hao away.

”That family lives off the money given by Uncle Lin, which means if Uncle Lin stops giving, they lose their source of livelihood. In that case, it’s not unreasonable for them to direct their anger at An Hao.” Luo Qianqian paused for a moment, then pouted her lips in anger, ”Having hands and legs but still relying on an older brother to provide, that family really is the worst!”

He Wenyu and Lin Jiayou immediately looked at Luo Qianqian herself, seemingly hinting, ”Don’t you always say you want to be a happy little rice bug under Luo Shufan’s wings?”

”Problems that can be solved with money are not problems at all,” Jimo Cheng suddenly declared.

Lin Jiayou glanced at his serious expression and frowned slightly, ”But we don’t want them to have a happy and joyful happy end.”

”Does money really bring happiness?” Jimo Cheng shook his head, looking at Luo Qianqian, ”What do you think?”

”As long as my mom, An Hao, and Uncle Lin are happy and content, that’s all that matters,” Luo Qianqian said after a moment of silence. As for the others, she was temporarily unable to do anything about it, especially in front of Jimo Cheng, where she still had to play the role of the knowledgeable and gentle little fiancée.

He Wenyu sighed, ”If we let them off easy, it always feels uncomfortable, especially since Qianqian was hurt; if they don’t pay a price, it’s just not satisfying.”

Jimo Cheng just chuckled lightly without responding.

The three thought he would let it go, but that very evening, they received a call from Zhang Ye, full of confusion, ”Qianqian, does that cheap grandma of yours have a history of hereditary mental illness?”

”Huh?? Really??” Luo Qianqian was so shocked that the half-eaten apple in her hand fell to the ground as she stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

”Cheap grandma? That’s quite an apt description,” He Wenyu nodded repeatedly as he listened and then remarked, ”Lin Jiayou is playing games with your senior brother; why not just ask him directly?”

Upon hearing this, Luo Qianqian agreed, grabbed her phone, and walked out of the room. She looked at the two playing Super Mario in front of the TV with a speechless expression but still asked, ”Brother Jiayou, do you have a mental illness?”

Lin Jiayou: ???

He looked at Luo Qianqian with a face full of surprise. What kind of question was that? Was she doubting his sanity? Or did he do some bizarre act again?

Jimo Cheng just smiled on the side without saying a word.

Lin Jiayou: ”Luo Qianqian, what do you have against me again? Why would I have a mental illness? What did I do to provoke you?”

Seeing Lin Jiayou’s reaction, which indeed didn’t seem like he was hiding anything, Luo Qianqian said into the phone, ”It should be a no, Brother Jiayou says he doesn’t have a mental illness...”

He Wenyu bent over laughing on the side, who would admit to that when asked in such a way?

He quickly explained the reason behind Luo Qianqian’s question, ”Zhang Ye called Qianqian to ask if there’s a history of hereditary mental illness on Uncle Lin’s side, so Qianqian came out to verify...”

”Hereditary? And mental illness?” Lin Jiayou immediately dropped the controller, furiously stating, ”I guess I inherited being handsome, but why haven’t I heard about this? Does my dad look like he’s mentally ill? But... my grandma really fits that description, paranoid and opinionated.”

”That’s strange,” Zhang Ye, hearing Lin Jiayou’s response from inside the phone, was even more puzzled, ”Someone just showed their psychiatric evaluation certificate and took them away...”
