Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 608: Chapter 588: So, The Pick-Up Came

After class, Luo Qianqian packed up her backpack. Seeing Jimo Cheng still focused on his painting, she didn’t disturb him and quietly sat on the side, picking up a book. After all, there were no classes for a while; her next class wasn’t until the afternoon.

”Is class over?” It wasn’t long before Jimo Cheng put away his pen and realized that the classroom was nearly empty, except for Luo Qianqian, who was engrossed in her book.

”Yeah,” Luo Qianqian put away her book, smiling, ”You get so lost in your work that you forget about time. You might miss lunch, right?” Yet there was a hint of concern in her eyes.

Jimo Cheng shook his head with a light chuckle, ”No, I usually finish my drawings quickly.”

”Let’s go, then. I’ve arranged to meet Elvis, you want to come along?” Luo Qianqian finished packing her backpack, her face all smiles.

Jimo Cheng nodded, ”I don’t have anything else planned, and I was thinking of having lunch with you, so let’s go together.”

Luo Qianqian nodded, informed Elvis through her phone, then smiled, ”I’m thinking of buying some comfort gifts.”

”Elvis, is he that blond guy who got hurt that day?”

”Yes, isn’t he quite handsome? He’s one of the most attractive guys in our school.”

...

As they walked and talked, they were soon stopped. Luo Qianqian, seeing the timid girl in front of her, flashed a knowing smile and said, ”I’ll go ahead and make a call to Nuannuan, you guys go ahead and talk.”

Watching Luo Qianqian actually walk forward, a hint of resignation crossed Jimo Cheng’s face, though he kept his smile in check, ”What’s up?”

”I’m Yanyan from the foreign languages department, first year. I’d like to get to know you. Could I get your contact information?” The girl blushed as she spoke, then bowed her head, unable to meet Jimo Cheng’s gaze.

Jimo Cheng’s eyes followed Luo Qianqian, who was happily making her phone call in the distance, and he said, ”How old are you? I only like girls younger than me; by the way, I’m seventeen.”

”Hey, don’t go too far,” said two girls standing by as they overheard, frowning as they stepped forward.

”Still seventeen? Everyone in the first year is at least eighteen, right? If you want someone underage, why don’t you look in high school?”

The group of girls started to argue back and forth.

Jimo Cheng did not interject until they paused, then pointed at Luo Qianqian and asked, ”Do you know how old she is?”

The confessing girl frowned, ”She skipped grades to get here, she’s close to the school hunk as well, and she’s a computer science student Luo Qianqian. Probably fourteen, right?”

”Exactly, being young doesn’t mean she’s innocent. Not only is she close to the school hunk but also to the former one. Plus, handsome guys often pick her up in their cars; it’s quite messy.” Another girl quickly added, ”Unlike our Yanyan, who is pure and unaffected, never had a boyfriend, love isn’t about age or distance...” She elevated her own friend while disparaging the other.

”Do you even know who I am?” Jimo Cheng’s face revealed a cold smile.

”You couldn’t possibly be her boyfriend, right? You’d better break it off early. How is she better than our Yanyan?”

Jimo Cheng’s lips curled into a smirk, ”Before you speak, take a look in the mirror. Isn’t the reason for not having a boyfriend obvious?” Looking at the girls who wanted to get angry and cry, Jimo Cheng showed no pity, ”I am the fiancé of the girl you’ve been maligning. I reserve the right to take legal action against you.”

The three girls instantly turned pale, not because of the word ’fiancé’, but the prospect of being sued frightened them.

After making her phone call, Luo Qianqian saw that the issue hadn’t resolved and started kicking stones by the roadside, ”The woes of being attractive, such a luxury.” Seeing that the crowd not only hadn’t dispersed but had grown larger, she made a judgment about her fiancé’s attractiveness.

”I hope you understand the consequences of your words,” said Jimo Cheng, and then passed by the three girls towards Luo Qianqian, his face breaking into a smile again.

He had been praised and pursued from a young age, and there were plenty of beauties who chased after him, so he knew very well what he wanted to protect.

Watching Luo Qianqian kicking a little stone, he approached with a smile, ”Bored?”

Luo Qianqian was startled by his voice, jumped a little, and the next second she stopped kicking the stone, her face full of embarrassment as she smiled and said, ”Are you done talking?”

Jimo Cheng nodded, and Luo Qianqian continued to talk about what they should have bought for the hospital visit, without any intention to ask about what just happened.

If she did not ask, he would not tell.

Who knew, they ended up encountering another two groups of girls similar to the first one. Luo Qianqian was helpless, constantly finding excuses to give the girls a chance, after all, when others were around, girls tended to be shy.

Jimo Cheng’s face turned dark, not because someone stopped him asking for contact information—this kind of thing happened often, not only at school, so it was not surprising.

It was because each time, Luo Qianqian would find a reason to leave, giving the girls an opportunity. How could this be the behavior of a fiancée?

But perhaps it was because she trusted him, which allowed him to handle it himself?

Jimo Cheng could only think this way, what else could he do?

Finally, after buying a bunch of fruits, nutritional products, and lunch, Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng finally arrived at Elvis’s home.

The door was not locked, and it opened at a push. Luo Qianqian was startled and almost thought it was a break-in, only to hear the sound of video games coming from inside.

Pushing the door open, she saw Elvis, sitting straight on the floor with the computer on the coffee table gaming, ”You’re really taking it easy? Have you had breakfast?”

Elvis turned around only when he heard her voice, saw Luo Qianqian without a hint of surprise, then turned his attention back to the keyboard and pressed a few keys, ”Why did you only come now? Xi Ming came over in the morning and brought me porridge, it was so bad I wanted to throw it out.”

”I brought fried chicken,” Luo Qianqian said with a light laugh, knowing that Elvis usually bought her breakfast from this place and probably liked it a lot.

Elvis immediately minimized his computer, a joyful expression on his face, ”You’re the best, I was getting tired of bland food... um, this is...” Elvis stood up and looked at Jimo Cheng, who was standing behind Luo Qianqian with a bag.

He obviously knew who it was, but was just playing dumb.

Luo Qianqian helplessly rolled her eyes at him, clearly having gone with Xi Ming to the gala, but obediently introduced, ”This is Jimo Cheng, my senior, my mentor, my fiancé.”

Jimo Cheng smiled and nodded, ”Hello.”

Elvis just chuckled, ”Hello.” He responded politely and then said to Luo Qianqian, ”Qianqian, Xi Ming said Chang Xi has already picked out a dress, did you know?”

A dress? Luo Qianqian looked puzzled, then a second later, she realized it was the bridesmaid dress, shaking her head, ”Sister Xi hasn’t told me yet, but I have a good figure so I can wear anything.”

Elvis immediately switched to a face full of disdain, ”Tsk tsk,” then stretched out his hand, ”Hurry up and give me the chicken, next time just buy popcorn chicken and chicken nuggets for me.”

Quite picky indeed.

Luo Qianqian could tell that Elvis was reluctant to talk much with Jimo Cheng, but since that was always his way, she didn’t think much of it. She was just worried Jimo Cheng might overthink things, so they left after sitting for a while.

After the two had left and they heard the door close, Elvis, with a stern face, put down the food in his hands, opened the computer, and after pressing a few keys, said to the computer, ”Did you hear? She introduced him herself... how could I lie to you?”

”She really has grown up.” The voice that came through was somewhat hoarse, and if Luo Qianqian were there, she would definitely recognize it as Shufan’s voice.
