Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Who knew that the man would pull out a silver instrument from his white coat, snarling viciously, ”Don’t blame me! You all go die!!!”

Luo Qianqian only had time to turn and shield An Hao, when the dagger sliced through her clothes and backpack straps, not even touching her skin. The backpack fell off Luo Qianqian’s back and hung from her arm, she instinctively delivered a side kick to his stomach, sending him tumbling onto the stairs with a muffled grunt.

”I X your mom!” The man’s eyes immediately reddened, he grabbed the knife, and An Hao was still sobbing loudly. Luo Qianqian panicked completely, sure that An Hao must not be hurt, not even a bump or a jolt, for babies are fragile and even the slightest accidental injury could lead to irreparable consequences.

”My child!” The old lady, as if unable to wait, or perhaps having heard some noise, directly climbed up the stairs. Seeing the child in Luo Qianqian’s arms, her eyes lit up, ”Take him away, I heard from your brother this little burden is quite rich!”

The man was taken aback, but at the mention of money, his eyes also shone.

Luo Qianqian turned her back, holding An Hao in her arms, planning to bear any harm herself.

”Qianqian!” Out of nowhere, He Wenyu and Zhang Ye’s voices came from upstairs.

”I’m here.” Luo Qianqian was utterly distraught, really unsure how to handle things, with An Hao continuously crying, she didn’t even know how to hold him properly and could only do her best to protect him.

Hearing someone approaching, the man and the old woman also panicked.

The old lady directly said, ”Take the kid and go, just stab the burden to death.”

??? Stab her to death??? Luo Qianqian was completely shocked, were people really discussing illegal acts so blatantly?

”After all, it’s our family’s child!”

Hearing his mother say this, the last bit of hesitation disappeared from the man’s eyes, and he looked menacing with the knife raised.

Luo Qianqian held An Hao with one arm, comforting him, ”Little brother, be good, sister will protect you.” She then pulled out a key from the side of her backpack. Her long-sleeved shirt stood no chance against a surgical scalpel; she had to grab whatever was at hand.

Without any hesitation, she turned to face the direction of the knife and threw the chain of keys toward the man, then tossed her backpack in his direction, before darting to the side, narrowly avoiding a vital blow, but still got a cut on her back, feeling a sudden chill there and a slight stinging pain—it must not have been a deep wound.

Zhang Ye had also arrived and immediately jumped down the stairs, delivering a kick that pinned the man beneath him, and promptly pulled out handcuffs, ”Police!” showing his badge.

The old lady panicked and tried to run, but who knew that someone from the Elevate Fried Chicken duo noticed something was off and also came up, quickly restraining the old lady.

When He Wenyu arrived, seeing Luo Qianqian leaning against the wall and soothing the child, tears fell, and he slapped Luo Qianqian’s arm, ”What were you thinking! Do you know how worried I was!”

Luo Qianqian groaned, then raised a smile, ”I’m fine, look, An Hao stops crying when he sees you. If you keep being fierce, An Hao won’t like you.” Luo Qianqian took a few steps forward, ”Let’s send An Hao back first, hopefully, mom hasn’t woken up.”

”I don’t know whose been calling me little monkey all the time... Qianqian!” He Wenyu looked at the blood on the wall, his pupils slightly dilating.

Zhang Ye, having just called his colleagues, also noticed the blood on the wall, slightly frowning and looking worried, ”Qianqian.”

”It’s nothing, probably just a scratch.” Luo Qianqian waved her hand, appearing calm.

But her furrowed brows said otherwise.

The duo in disguise, having heard the noise, also quickly looked up.

Zhang Ye saw the weapon on the ground, disbelief on his face, ”A surgical scalpel?”

Luo Qianqian gave a bitter smile. Was it good that it was a scalpel? If it had been anything else, would she have to worry about tetanus?

Her footsteps faltered, and the handsome young man quickly came up to take An Hao, gently holding and soothing the child, looking at Luo Qianqian, ”You should go get that wound treated first?”

However, by the time they reached the ninth floor, it was in chaos, with gifts scattered all over. Although the lights in the hospital rooms were off, family members going to the bathroom and nurses making rounds were all frozen in place, not understanding what had happened.

At that moment, Lin Xu, who had gone to the bathroom, returned to the room and discovered his son was missing, and hurriedly sought out a nurse.

Once they related it to the things on the ground, the ninth floor burst into chaos, with claims that someone had come to steal a baby.

An Zilan, exhausted from a whole day, was sound asleep and wasn’t awakened by the commotion.

When Lin Xu frantically took out his phone to call the police, he saw several people emerging from the emergency exit. Zhang Ye, with a stern face, was holding their younger brother and mother. The brother was still in a white lab coat, holding the deranged man An Hao, who was even wearing a wig. There were also a frantic He Wenyu and a stranger holding a pale-faced Luo Qianqian.

In He Wenyu’s hand was a cloth bag with a bloodstained scalpel.

”What’s going on?” Lin Xu was completely panicked. How could Qianqian and An Hao suddenly appear, along with his mom and younger brother?

”You guys first take Qianqian to get her wounds treated,” Zhang Ye coldly ordered. Then he looked at An Hao, ”It’d be best to have the child checked as well, in case he was shocked.”

He had never expected to encounter a newborn in such a situation. He also understood why Luo Qianqian had reached out to him. At this moment, he was only thankful that Luo Qianqian had sought him out and hadn’t tried to solve the problem on her own. However, he was also irritated that she hadn’t been clear with him, which had led to her getting hurt.

As Lin Xu took An Hao, tears began to flow. Looking at the sleeping An Hao, he was utterly perplexed, ”What happened? How did Qianqian get hurt?”

He Wenyu glared venomously at the old lady, ”You should ask Uncle Lin’s mom and brother that. If it weren’t for Qianqian, would An Hao still be alive now?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Xu was completely dumbfounded. An Hao, his son—what were his mom and brother planning to do to his son?

Upon hearing this, a nurse quickly took An Hao from Lin Xu to find a doctor, jokingly saying, ”Newborns are so fragile.”

Luo Qianqian, feeling wronged, lay exposed in front of the doctor, needing disinfection, and kept groaning softly. Yet, her eyes always carried comfort toward He Wenyu, and she kept saying, ”It’s okay, it doesn’t hurt. Don’t cry.”

The doctor huffed, ”Doesn’t hurt? Then who exactly is trembling all over right now?”

But the doctor was still somewhat gentle, considering how the small child could still bear not to cry despite the situation, ”The wound is deep on top; you’ll need stitches and also a tetanus shot.”

Luo Qianqian was about to cry, stitches, and a shot?

Luo Qianqian stubbornly made He Wenyu leave, then she began to tear up and snivel, ”Okay, sew it up.”

The doctor was speechless, ”Little sister, this is the obstetrics and gynecology neonatal department; you should go to surgery.”

”What?” Luo Qianqian wiped her tears and clutched her precarious clothes, ”Isn’t it necessary to put on a band-aid or something? Going out like this would invite infection, which isn’t good.”

Listening to Luo Qianqian still analyzing so logically, the doctor couldn’t help but laugh and cry, ”You’ll also need a tetanus shot in a moment. Hurry along now.”

Luo Qianqian walked out of the doctor’s office feeling aggrieved, looking at He Wenyu, who stood in the hallway with tears in his eyes, and she pouted, ”The doctor said he takes care of children, not me, and told me to go to surgery.”

The slightly ajar door allowed Luo Qianqian’s words to reach the doctor’s ears, who shook his head in disbelief. However, shortly after the two had left, a man pushed the door open, ”Where are those two kids just now?”

??? Taking advantage of the fact that he was the only one on duty in internal medicine today, right? Such an aggressive tone?

But still with a smile, ”They went to surgery to get stitches and are also getting a tetanus shot,” he casually pointed at the pile of bright red disinfectant cotton in the trash bin.

”Stitches?” Zhang Ye was stunned—a wound that severe? And the child hadn’t even cried out in pain.

”It’s too late to look for her now. I’m a police officer; could you tell me her detailed condition?” Zhang Ye’s colleague was still waiting.

The doctor was startled, then briefly explained Luo Qianqian’s condition, and couldn’t help asking, ”What happened to the child? She doesn’t look like a bad kid.”

Zhang Ye briefly explained the situation and then left the office, ”Thank you.”

In the surgical clinic, Luo Qianqian still sent He Wenyu out and then began to cry, biting her lower lip hard.

Only after the dressing was done, and she had received a tetanus shot, did she dry her tears, patted her cheeks, and forced a light-hearted smile, ”Thank you, doctor.”
