Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 621: Chapter 601: Child Turmoil (4)

”...Are you an overprotective brother?” He Wenyu said helplessly, ”But it’s been a while since I’ve seen him, and I do miss him.”

”So, are you?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes dismissively, had the nerve to say it about her?

He Wenyu pouted, just like a familiar puppy that you haven’t seen in a while, you’d miss it, but comparing Luo Shufan to a puppy somehow seemed like an injustice to the older brother?

”Huh? Zhang Ye actually drove here?” She had thought he’d take a taxi, but then she saw a silver sedan stop in front of them, the driver gesturing to them with a wave, ”I’ll go park the car, wait for me for a moment.”

Luo Qianqian quickly nodded and then handed a box of chicken wings to He Wenyu, ”I’ll be right back, wait here for Zhang Ye, I’ll be right back.”

He Wenyu nodded, watching Luo Qianqian run towards the hospital with her phone in hand.

Luo Qianqian took out her phone and made a call, ”Come down and have something to eat, I’ve packed some late-night snacks.”

”But...” The person on the other end hesitated, the fact that someone had been lurking around the hospital ward seemed very risky.

”Keep watch at the door; as long as they can’t leave the hospital, it will be fine.” Luo Qianqian knew well that the hospital wouldn’t have many side or back doors open at night, given the limited number of doctors on duty, they couldn’t afford to trouble the on-duty medical staff, ”We have to give them a chance or else how will the play go on?” Luo Qianqian smiled, but her face was full of tension, as it concerned her younger brother, she couldn’t help but be tense.

”Alright then.” The person on the phone, understanding Luo Qianqian’s intentions and clearly having a backup plan, agreed.

”Okay, I’m at the elevator, just come straight down.” Luo Qianqian watched the elevator, squinted her eyes, and hid on the side because she really didn’t know where that nasty old lady might be hiding.

The two people who came were exactly who Luo Qianqian had expected.

Luo Qianqian handed them the food, smiled slightly, and bowed, ”Thank you for everything, and for what’s to come too.”

”Oh, it’s nothing.” The two young men were flustered and waved their hands, especially the one wearing the long wig, whose face was as red as a boiled shrimp.

”Hehe, don’t be shy, you guys deserve this thanks.” Luo Qianqian handed two bags to them, one bag contained chicken wings, and the other had burgers and colas. Considering their physique, which didn’t seem like the kind that easily fills up, she had specifically bought several burgers.

”Eat up.” Luo Qianqian smiled and waved as she ran towards the outside of the hospital.

”Brother, I feel like crying.” The delicate-looking man adjusted his wig and rubbed his nose.

”Cry for what, you’re spineless, just eat.” The more masculine man smacked his head, ”The boss said this was a good errand and you didn’t believe it.”

Luo Qianqian saw He Wenyu still standing there by himself, his feet surrounded by several bags, somewhat puzzled, ”Did you go shopping?” Upon closer inspection, they were nutritional products and things for kids.

”What? No...” He Wenyu pointed feebly in the direction of the moving figure, ”I really wonder where he found these... is the mall still open this late?”

Luo Qianqian followed the direction He Wenyu pointed, then saw Zhang Ye with just as many bags, her mouth twitched, ”He must have been prepared well in advance.”

”I even went back home to get them, Grandpa told me to visit him when you’re free,” Zhang Ye grinned at Luo Qianqian, ”I don’t even know what you sent, but it made the old man laugh all day. He hugged the box and laughed like a fool, Grandma thought he had gone crazy.”

Luo Qianqian was startled, she hadn’t sent anything special at all, oh right, there was also a piece of Chengxin Tang paper in a box.

She smiled knowingly, ”As long as the old man likes it, that’s good.”

Thinking about the gifts she had for her grandparents back home, her eyes curved even more, ”They’ll like them too, right?”

Looking at the bags on the ground, she asked in confusion, ”These weren’t prepared by you, were they?”

”My mom prepared them. Do I look like someone who would prepare these things?” Zhang Ye pursed his lips, his hands full of stuff, pointing to one of the bags on the ground, ”This was specially brought back by Grandpa and Grandma from their travels, they said it’s particularly good for women recovering post childbirth. They wanted Aunt An to give it a try.”

Luo Qianqian clicked her tongue, how expensive must this thing be... She hadn’t brought back the Chengxin Tang paper, ”Grandpa and Grandma really went through a lot of trouble,” Luo Qianqian gave Zhang Ye a bow.

”You might as well save it, go and tell them yourself when you’re back, I won’t carry the message.” Zhang Ye swiftly jumped aside, not accepting Luo Qianqian’s formal gesture. He wouldn’t tell Luo Qianqian that during his recent visit to Grandpa’s house, Grandpa had kept expressing how they hadn’t picked the wrong child and how she was even more considerate than his own grandson...

”Haha, let’s go.” Seeing that most of the lights were turned off, Luo Qianqian curled her lips and started picking up the bags, ”We originally called you to join us, and here you come bringing so much stuff, making it look like we asked you to buy it all.” Luo Qianqian pouted, her face expressing reluctance.

”Even if you didn’t mention it, we would have known about it in a few days, and couldn’t have avoided coming. Moreover, these things were already being prepared. Today was just the right time to convey my grandfather’s wishes, and these days, I’m afraid he’ll keep mentioning you. You’d better go visit him sooner rather than later,” Zhang Ye didn’t forget to put in a good word for his grandfather, since it was rare for his grandfather to give such a formal request.

”Ah, Grandpa Zhang has never missed me like that,” He Wenyu said sourly from the side.

Zhang Ye rolled his eyes, ”You go there once a week, more often than me, his own grandson, and still complain!”

Seeing Luo Qianqian’s puzzled look, He Wenyu slightly lowered his head, coughed lightly, and his face reddened a bit, ”Went to learn baking.”

The three of them got into the elevator. Watching the numbers on the elevator change, Luo Qianqian narrowed her eyes, hoping to catch someone in the act, so the child wouldn’t be scared. After all, it was her own brother, their mother’s own son.

Unexpectedly, just as the elevator reached the ninth floor, she saw someone in a white lab coat dash into the emergency exit.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Luo Qianqian immediately dropped everything and chased after the figure.

Compared to the nervous man in the white lab coat, Luo Qianqian was even more agitated, yet her steps never faltered. She quickly pulled out the Silver Needle that she had ready in her backpack’s side pocket, fearing the worst.

However, the man seemed like the type who was lazy and averse to effort, and began gasping for breath after running just a few steps.

Luo Qianqian grabbed onto the railing, ignoring several steps and leaping down, grabbing the man in the white lab coat. The soles of her feet were numb, but she didn’t hesitate to drive a Silver Needle downwards, though the man swayed and dodged it unexpectedly.

The man was startled by the person behind him and immediately let go of his hands, trying to run but his legs gave way, and he fell forward.

Without a moment’s hesitation, watching An Hao about to hit the ground on the staircase, Luo Qianqian leaped forward, catching An Hao in her arms. She landed heavily on her back, groaning in pain.

An Hao, awakened by the commotion, felt the unusual atmosphere around him and began to cry loudly without a second’s hesitation, startling the man in the white lab coat, who then kicked Luo Qianqian harshly in the stomach twice, intending to snatch the child.

Luo Qianqian clenched her teeth tightly, protected An Hao with both arms, and got up leaning against the wall, warily watching the man.
