Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 631: Chapter 611: Child Turmoil (14)

He truly flew out, his entire body crashing into the wall outside the hospital room, then slumped to the ground, his hand still tightly gripping a fruit knife.

When Luo Qianqian arrived at the hospital room, she saw Jimo Cheng standing in the middle like a savior, maintaining the pose of kicking someone. She hurried to her mother’s side, only to find An Zilan holding soup and staring like she was watching a monkey, taking a long time to react.

Surrounded by people with worried expressions, An Zilan finally connected the woman who had burst in with the words spoken. ”Did she call me the wretched woman?”

Seeing that her mother didn’t seem hurt, Luo Qianqian hurried over to Jimo Cheng’s side. Jimo Cheng had already regained his posture and, showing a smile, said to her, ”I’m fine.”

”Senior brother... sob sob sob.” Luo Qianqian threw herself into Jimo Cheng’s arms. Heaven knows how scared she was when she saw that figure enter the hospital room, fearing her mother might be in danger. Jimo Cheng, not daring to touch her back, could only gently stroke her hair.

His face, however, was flushed. Heaven knows, this was the first time he had been so close to a girl, although the current situation was exceptional.

Following him into the hospital room were Lin Xu and He Wenyu. He Wenyu, seeing Luo Qianqian’s sobbing demeanor, found it hard to look directly at her. She had been so fierce just moments ago; how had she changed so quickly? But she also jumped when she saw the knife on the floor, hastily checking on An Zilan, Luo Qianqian, and Jimo Cheng, who had delivered a stunning kick.

Lin Xu, meanwhile, placed the child on the bed and held An Zilan, continuously shedding tears. ”Wife wife wife...”

”What’s going on?” An Zilan still looked stunned.

But He Wenyu was not confused and immediately took out her phone to call the police. This matter, undoubtedly, should be handled by the police.

An Zihua looked at Luo Qianqian’s appearance. It didn’t seem like the sudden incident had caused her to cry this way. Then looking at Lin Xu, who was also crying abnormally, and Xiao Yu, who seemed too composed, things appeared off.

”Brother-in-law, do you know something?” An Zihua’s gaze towards Lin Xu was scrutinizing. Right now her older sister was clearly in a state of confusion due to her pregnancy, not yet realizing the danger she had just faced.

”Man, why is this old lady here? Qianqian, are you okay?” Lin Jiayou had just returned from the restroom and was shocked to see the person unconscious in the hallway. As his aunt, how could he not recognize her? Recalling what he had heard at the police station yesterday, he immediately started looking for Luo Qianqian.

An Zilan, still clueless, widened her eyes when she heard her daughter’s name. ”What happened to Qianqian?”

Luo Qianqian, sobbing, came out from Jimo Cheng’s arms and wiped her tears. ”Mom, I’m fine. I was just startled by the knife,” Luo Qianqian said loudly, glaring at Lin Jiayou with her red, fierce eyes.

Lin Jiayou awkwardly touched his nose. He hadn’t worried unnecessarily, so why glare at him? Still, he felt guilty and closed his mouth.

Luo Qianqian, looking aggrieved, walked up to the hospital bed. ”With such a big knife, wouldn’t a cut hurt a lot?”

An Zihua frowned. ”Speaking of which, that woman looked somewhat familiar. I think I’ve seen her before.”

”I also have some impression of her,” Grandma An nodded, though the interaction had been quick, just a flash before her granddaughter’s senior brother had kicked her out.

Thinking this, a somber expression crossed the elderly woman’s face.

The child clearly ran in, so being so far away, how could they be sure that this woman was in danger?

Luo Qianqian was still feeling wronged and struggling while He Wenyu just stood in the corridor, watching the woman without entering the hospital room. Of course, he didn’t forget to pick up the fruit knife with a tissue. As the woman fainted, nurses surrounded her, but Lin Jiayou directly stopped the rescuers, ”We’ve already called the police; please preserve the scene now.”

An Zihua held the little baby and walked straight to the door of the hospital room, frowning and taking a careful look, ”Why do I feel like she’s my brother-in-law’s...”

Lin Xu didn’t hide it and nodded directly, pressing An Zilan’s hand, ”She is my sister-in-law.”

Luo Qianqian felt utterly wronged. How had her mom ended up with such relatives? The elder ones are disrespectful and horribly wicked. The men, impartial, selfish, and self-serving, are willing to harm a baby barely out of infancy for their own gain.

And his wife, indeed not sparing her own kind, had just been hurt and yet was thinking of causing more consequences?

Luo Qianqian was genuinely scared. If it wasn’t for Jimo Cheng stepping forward, what would she have done if her mother had been hurt by this wicked woman?

An Zilan frowned, ”What about her...”

”Uncle Lin, is it because you were saving up for An Hao’s tuition, and Grandma Lin and Uncle didn’t agree?” Luo Qianqian didn’t hesitate at all and immediately interrupted what Lin Xu might have said, coming up with a reasonable explanation. She knew very well that if she didn’t interrupt, given the situation, Lin Xu was very likely to mention yesterday’s events.

Now that An Zilan couldn’t be agitated, Luo Qianqian indeed chose to conceal the truth for her own mother’s sake.

An Zilan frowned, ”Is that so?” her voice carried a hint of helplessness. She really was at a loss with this family; ’greedy’ couldn’t fully describe them.

Usually, whatever groceries were bought at home, as soon as this family casually strolled through, they would definitely take everything with them. They didn’t even spare the rice. If they couldn’t take money, they took things; if there were no things to take, they’d just linger and not leave. They even went to ’God Luo’s Record’ store to take things, but luckily there were full protection measures in place there. The store clerks didn’t care who you were and would simply call the police.

After being taken to the police station twice, they learned their lesson and dared not come to take things anymore. They even told neighboring stores that she was unfilial and such. Fortunately, the neighboring stores all knew each other well, who would listen to that old lady’s nonsense?

”Get a good check-up and then discharge from the hospital, I’ll arrange for a nurse and doctor,” Jimo Cheng said, frowning as he looked at Luo Qianqian’s tear-stained face.

Luo Qianqian kept waving her hands, ”No need, no need, I can arrange it myself.”

”Dear,” Jimo Cheng ruffled Luo Qianqian’s hair, his face showing a comforting smile, ”Leave it to me, we don’t need to be so formal.”

Luo Qianqian paused for a moment, then her cheeks flushed red and she nodded quietly, moving aside to watch the stout woman with He Wenyu.

An Zilan, seeing her daughter’s reaction, no longer had the mind to worry about the woman’s intentions and started gossiping about her daughter’s romantic prospect with her eyes.

Jimo Cheng took out his phone, tapped on it casually, and then put it away, ”Uncle and Aunt, go get checked now, and if there’s nothing wrong, you can be discharged.”

Lin Xu nodded absently. Why did it seem like the kids these days all had such strong presences?
