I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 291: Chapter 275: Just Here to See the Birds?

Then, as the one-minute countdown ended, Li You returned to the real world.

Only a second had passed in the real world, so Ye Shengge didn’t notice anything unusual. She was still looking at the tea tree, lamenting the pest infestation.

Li You said, ”Wild tea trees are usually very resilient. Even though this one is infested with pests right now, it will most likely heal on its own. If we come back in a while, the infestation will probably have improved significantly.”

Ye Shengge nodded. ”I hope so.”

Li You added, ”Let’s go.”

Ye Shengge glanced at the tea tree a few more times, then nodded. ”Alright.”

The two of them returned the way they came.

They returned to where the motorcycle was parked, got on, and set off again.

This time, Li You didn’t stop along the way, riding straight to the village entrance.

As soon as they reached the entrance, the sound of birdsong immediately grew much louder.

The calls of different birds echoed from near and far. Ye Shengge listened with delight and said, ”It really does sound like there are a lot of birds. The environment for birds in your village is wonderful!”

Li You smiled. ”That’s mainly because everyone here likes and protects them.”

Ye Shengge nodded and added, ”And the scenery is nice, too. It’s beautiful. Living here must be very comfortable.”

Li You nodded. ”It certainly is. Let’s go in.”

”Alright.”

Li You rode the motorcycle into the village.

Ye Shengge looked all around, and the more she saw, the more beautiful she found the village. ’Living here really would be very comfortable.’

”Xiaoyou, you’re back. Huh...?”

They ran into a villager on the road. The villager had intended to greet Li You, but he quickly noticed Ye Shengge sitting behind him.

His eyes instantly lit up. ’Who is this girl? She’s gorgeous!’

’She’s riding on Xiaoyou’s motorcycle, coming back with him.’

’Could it be?’

The villager was instantly thrilled and asked, ”Xiaoyou, is this your girlfriend? She’s so beautiful!”

The villagers were always very interested in which of the young people had started dating someone.

And Li You was currently the village’s star. If he got a girlfriend, the villagers would be extremely interested.

Li You chuckled. ”No, she’s my guest. She heard our village has a lot of birds and wanted to come see them. It just so happened I was coming back today, so she came along with me.”

The villager was very disappointed to hear this. ’I really thought she was Xiaoyou’s girlfriend. To think she’s just here to see the birds.’

”Xiaoyou, you’re not getting any younger. You should really find a girlfriend,” the villager added.

Li You replied, ”There’s no rush for that. I’ll take my time.”

The villager added, ”With your prospects, it’ll be easy for you to find someone. So I guess you really don’t need to be in such a hurry.”

Li You let out a laugh, said goodbye to the villager, and continued on his way home.

On the way, Li You said, ”After riding through the village like this, I’m afraid everyone is going to misunderstand our relationship.”

Ye Shengge smiled faintly. ”Then let them misunderstand.”

Li You smiled at her reply. Just as he was about to say something more, several large white birds suddenly flew out of a rice paddy not far ahead.

Ye Shengge let out a little ”Ah!” and said, ”Boss, look! Those birds are huge. What are they? Some kind of egret?”

Li You nodded. ”They are egrets, indeed. A type of white egret.”

Ye Shengge said excitedly, ”You even have egrets! Boss, your village is so awesome!”

Li You said, ”It’s not just egrets, we have grey herons too. Grey herons aren’t as white. Only the center of their crown and their neck are white; the rest of their body is mostly grey.”

”You have grey herons too?” Ye Shengge grew even more excited. ”What about cranes? You don’t have Red-crowned Cranes, do you?”

Li You said, ”No Red-crowned Cranes here, unfortunately. But there are some in Jiulong Gorge. Qingye took a lot of photos of Red-crowned Cranes there last time.”

Ye Shengge nodded. ”I heard about that. It would be wonderful if those Red-crowned Cranes could show up around your shop one day.”

Li You replied, ”I hope so too. Those are the legendary immortal cranes. I hope they really do come to the area around my shop one day.”

Ye Shengge said, ”It’s a real possibility.”

The two chatted as they rode. After seeing the egrets, Ye Shengge went on to see more than ten other species of birds, large and small.

This kept Ye Shengge in a constant state of pleasant surprise.

’The variety of birds in the boss’s village really is incredible.’

’Anyone who loves birds would be absolutely thrilled to come here.’

Of course, Ye Shengge also loved birds, so she was quite thrilled herself.

Slowly, they arrived outside Li You’s courtyard.

Parking the motorcycle outside the courtyard, Li You said, ”This is it.”

Ye Shengge got off the motorcycle and looked around. The house was a beautiful, two-story building with a large courtyard.

There were plots of land outside and next to the courtyard, planted with many kinds of vegetables. At the edge of one plot stood a large plum tree.

’Those delicious plums of Li You’s must have come from this very tree.’

’I didn’t expect the tree to be so big.’

In front of the plum tree, there was also a pond.

The pond wasn’t small, at least 200 square meters.

Ye Shengge asked, ”Boss, does this pond belong to your family?”

Li You nodded. ”It does!”

Ye Shengge asked again, ”Are there fish in it?”

Li You said, ”There are, but not many. We don’t specifically raise fish, so the ones in there are basically semi-wild.”

Ye Shengge said, ”That’s even better! That kind of fish is the most delicious. Boss, your home’s environment is fantastic! Right outside the courtyard is a vegetable garden, so you can pick whatever you want to eat. You could even come out and pick them right before cooking. That’s as fresh as it gets. Plus, you have plums to eat and you can go fishing. It’s really wonderful.”

Li You smiled. ”It’s alright. Come on, let’s go inside.”

Since this was Ye Shengge’s first visit, Li You didn’t ride the motorcycle directly into the courtyard.

Ye Shengge nodded. ”Alright.”

Then, Li You took the fruit out of the storage box on the back of the motorcycle. They each carried some and walked into the courtyard.

”Dad, Mom, we have a guest!” Li You called out loudly.

Hearing his voice, his parents hurried out of the house. They were both stunned when they saw Ye Shengge.

’This is the guest?’

’She’s so beautiful, and so tall!’

’Why would such a pretty girl come to visit?’

Both his parents had the same question in their minds.

But soon, they both thought of a certain possibility.

’Could it be...?’

This thought brought a pleasant surprise to both of them. ’Is our future daughter-in-law this beautiful?’

Li You knew his parents would definitely misunderstand, so he spoke up first. ”This is Miss Ye, my guest. She heard our village has a lot of birds and really wanted to see them, so she came along with me today. And this fruit is a gift she bought for you both.”

’Just a guest?’

His parents were both very disappointed to hear that.

At that moment, Ye Shengge smiled faintly. ”Hello, Uncle. Hello, Auntie.”

”Hello, hello. Hello to you too, Miss Ye,” his parents replied.

Then, his mother added, ”Miss Ye, just your presence is enough. You shouldn’t have bought fruit. And you bought so much, this is really too much.”

Ye Shengge said, ”It’s not that much. Uncle, Auntie, it’s just a small token of my appreciation. I hope you’ll accept it.”

His parents quickly said that the fruit was all high-quality and expensive, and that they were very happy to receive it.

At the same time, his mother stepped forward and took the fruit from Ye Shengge’s hands.

This was a gesture of politeness. When a guest arrived carrying a gift, it was customary for the host to step forward and receive it.

Afterward, both his parents invited Ye Shengge to come inside and sit down.
