I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 279: Chapter 264: The Significance of the Wild Fruit

For Lu Yuan, now that he knew the beef noodles and Yangchun Noodles here were also incredibly delicious, he was definitely going to use this breakfast as a chance to try one.

So, he didn’t take Ye Shengge’s advice.

He would wait for Li You to return. He didn’t mind if it took a little longer.

’Going hungry for a bit is worth it for good food.’

After hearing this, Li You apologized again and said he would go cook a bowl for Lu Yuan right away.

Lu Yuan nodded. ”Then I’ll have to trouble you, Boss Li You. I’ll take the beef noodles, a large bowl.”

’Beef noodles today, Yangchun Noodles tomorrow morning.’

’I’ll be here until tomorrow, at least.’

Li You said he should be the one thanking Lu Yuan for his business. Then he went into the kitchen and cooked a large bowl of beef noodles.

He then personally brought it to Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan’s excitement grew when he saw the beef noodles. It was presented beautifully and looked absolutely delicious.

’Waiting for Li You was definitely the right choice.’

He then picked up his chopsticks and began to eat.

He took a bite of noodles, then a piece of beef. It was even more delicious than he had imagined.

This bowl of beef noodles was a culinary masterpiece, an absolute delight to eat.

’Just eating this one bowl of beef noodles is enough to feel completely satisfied. This trip was already worth it.’

Lu Yuan felt both moved and excited.

He continued to eat the noodles.

He quickly finished all the noodles in the bowl, even drinking the broth until not a single drop remained.

This was the first time Lu Yuan had ever finished all the broth when eating noodles.

He was full, but he still wasn’t satisfied. Lu Yuan desperately wanted another bowl. But he glanced at the time—it was already 10:30 in the morning.

’Better not. If I eat another bowl, it’ll probably ruin my appetite for lunch.’

’And there are so many other delicious foods waiting for me at lunch.’

He settled the bill.

After settling the bill, Lu Yuan stepped outside and said to Li You, who was standing by the door, ”They say the beef noodles from Lanzhou are the most authentic and delicious. But now it seems that even the best beef noodles in Lanzhou can’t compare to yours.”

Li You replied, ”You can’t really say that. Beef noodles have different regional styles all over the country, and Lanzhou is no exception. Someone accustomed to other styles might not necessarily find my beef noodles delicious.”

This wasn’t just Li You being modest; it was the truth.

He had mastered the beef noodle recipe and could indeed make the most delicious beef noodles in the world.

But that was just relative to the general public. Not every single person in the world would find it delicious.

There might not be many people who wouldn’t like it, but they certainly existed.

Lu Yuan was very impressed by Li You’s words. ”You have a point there,” he said. ”However, I think even people who are used to other styles of beef noodles would find yours delicious. The deliciousness of your noodles transcends regional preferences. It’s so good that it would appeal to people with all sorts of different tastes. Of course, I can’t rule out the possibility that some might not like it. But people like that must be few and far between.”

Li You smiled as well. ”I hope you’re right, Mr. Lu Yuan.”

Lu Yuan said, ”I’m sure of it. Oh, by the way, Boss, while I was waiting for you to get back, I took a look at your wild fruit orchard. I saw a fruit there called Half Spring. Would it be alright if I picked a few to try?”

Li You was a little surprised. ”Are you interested in Goat’s Milk Berries too, Mr. Lu Yuan? That’s what you called Half Spring. It’s what we call them around here.”

Lu Yuan nodded. ”Yes, I’m very interested. I spent some time in the countryside when I was a boy, and I used to eat them back then. We’re talking almost thirty years ago now. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Half Spring in your wild fruit orchard earlier. I never expected you to have them here.”

While waiting for Li You to return earlier, Lu Yuan had taken a thorough walk through the vegetable garden, the Hundred Fruit Garden, and the wild fruit orchard.

Lu Yuan was thoroughly impressed by all three gardens. He was beginning to think that opening a restaurant here was an excellent choice.

’A restaurant in the city could have gardens like these?’

’Don’t even dream of it.’

When he reached the wild fruit orchard and saw the branches laden with Half Spring fruit, Lu Yuan was absolutely delighted.

It was a memory from his youth.

Even though nearly thirty years had passed, he still vividly remembered being a boy in the countryside, going with a few friends to pick and eat this fruit.

Time waits for no one. The boy from long ago had long since shed his youthful innocence, his hair now streaked with gray.

’I’ve long since lost contact with those old friends. I wonder where they are now?’

But the memory of them picking Half Spring together was still crystal clear.

’But the taste of the Half Spring had grown hazy. What exactly did it taste like again?’

After leaving the countryside, Lu Yuan had never eaten Half Spring again.

He hadn’t just not eaten one; he couldn’t even recall seeing one again.

That’s why Lu Yuan was so delighted. After nearly thirty years, he was finally seeing this fruit again.

Then, Lu Yuan felt the urge to pick a few and eat them.

He longed to rediscover that taste, now so faded in his memory.

It was a taste that brought back fond memories.

Lu Yuan grew excited at the thought of being able to taste it again.

However, these fruits weren’t out in the wild, but inside Boss Li You’s wild fruit orchard.

’In that case, picking the fruit to eat without Boss Li You’s permission would be stealing.’

So, Lu Yuan resisted the urge to reach out and pick them. ’I’ll wait for Boss Li You to get back and ask him if I can pick a few to eat.’
